    I love it. Especially the knot with the board.
    I've been wanting to put up a swing for two.
    Would a knot on each end of a board work for two?

    • @williammcginley3448
      @williammcginley3448 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, the "knot" in the video is called a Scaffold Hitch. One on each end of a plank and you've got a swing. Just be careful because the plank can slip sideways.

    Knot 1: over done barrel hitch
    Knit 2: over done sheet bend.
    Knot 3: easier to tie a clove hitch.
    Knot 4: same as knot 7.
    Knot 5: easier to tie a Prusik knot.
    Knot 6: easier to tie a timber hitch
    Knot 7: same as knot 4.
    Knot 8: easier to tie either a constrictor knot or a rolling hitch.
    Knot 9: over done (and improperly used) barrel hitch.
    Knot 10: over done taught-line hitch.
    Knot 11: not even a knot.
    Knot 12: way over done over-hand knot they made by pulling the short end between the finger and thumb quixkly so it looked like "magic".
    So technically there were only 10 knots, of which six were over done, and all were harder to tie than other knots. Next time you should consult an Eagle Scout before putting out a video on knots 🤣

    • @zecuse
      @zecuse 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Knot 1: The barrel hitch requires more line than this (bottle sling). If you don't have enough, this is a great alternative assuming the neck of the bottle has a lip to hold on to. Also, if you're worried about your item slipping out, the barrel hitch needs another wrap to make a better grip (and still possibly slip).
      Knot 2: More wraps = more friction = less slippage. Granted, 4 is definitely overkill for almost any use.
      Knot 3: This one distributes the force on the line through 2 bites instead of 1. The ends also stay apart from one another by a width of whatever they're wrapped around if that's useful.
      Knot 4: Slightly different than 7 because the ends are on opposite sides and both go through a bite in the line.
      Knot 5: Not unless you cut up the second line to make multiple Prusik's in series. This Alpine butterfly looking knot doesn't require the second line to be cut up to make the series of hoops and pulls apart just like the Alpine.
      Knot 6: The use case in video was for a friction hitch (hence the jerking down the pole). I would have used the easier to tie pile hitch instead, but the one in the video looks very similar. A timber hitch wouldn't have held onto that spot given how smooth the object was.
      Knot 7: Slightly different than 4 because the ends are on the same side and only 1 goes through a bite in the line. They made a hangman's noose.
      Knot 8: Only one I agree with you.
      Knot 9: The extra overhand knots are helping the wraps clasp the bottles together. Not very secure if given enough force because if 1 slips out, then they'll all fall out. It'll save you from having the need for multiple lines and making multiple barrel hitches and is only really good if you're delivering the group to the same location.
      Knot 10: This isn't a taut line hitch as it can't slide. This knot makes a fixed loop which might be preferred for a particular use. The extra wraps are just an aesthetic choice.

    • @michaeltebo7735
      @michaeltebo7735 5 ปีที่แล้ว
