I watched this and was very sceptical. I have a couple of cloth photo cubes, a cloud dome and a light box. But I tried it with a bright led desk lamp I already had - this method works better than anything I've tried - cheap and easy, thanks for the tips!
what the heck is jewelry wax? I use 5 different type of waxes, carving wax, injection wax, 3d printing resin wax, plain beeswax and sticky wax and none of them are suitable for holding a ring up.
It's a little strange that you use a sophisticated sonic jewelry cleaner, finger cots, tongs, etc. -- then you use a DESK LAMP to light the jewelry for photography!
As a professional jewelry photographer with many years of experience, I can tell you that you can't use just any old light that's handy for proper jewelry photography lighting.
I doubt very many people taking their own photos have an expensive camera like in the video. For do it yourself photos you have to have a better set up to remove the reflection from the ring. You need a box with tissue paper sides and top, and lights from 3 sides to take a decent picture.
Erin Michael - Others mentioned something called "Jewelry Wax" - 10X stronger than Bluetac, or some such thing in the answers to a similar question above...
Princess Gemstones -Good point!! 😉 - Emeralds, opals, and I've heard aquamarine too, but I'm not too sure about that one. Definitely the Emeralds and Opals though. I imagine it would be simple enough to Google for a list of stones which should not ever be put in an ultrasonic machine.
Hi Gail! We use a special positioning/holding wax that keeps the ring secure. You can purchase it at any craft store or online. Thanks! --Stuller Marketing
김상범 - The light they used in the video is just an ordinary desk light - nothing more our less. Others have said that isn't the best choice, but better choices are of course going to. E more expensive. If you have the stores available, you might check out a regular department store that sells office supplies for a desk lamp with a nice bright light in it. I don't know for sure, but I've seen jewelry under what appears to be clear LED lights, and it really makes them POP! Or, you could go to a big crafts store like Michael's and see if they have a small lighting kit with little stand up lights and a light box to set your items in.
Hi! Our photographers actually use something called Tacky Wax. If you watch this video, our Photography Manager Danny talks about the process of using the wax at 23:45. th-cam.com/video/_XaB_KRXrOc/w-d-xo.html
Hן Erin i asked for that in the big jewlery stores and they didn't know what i was talking about . i saw clips that says to glue the ring with hot glue or puddy and the resolt is ugly. if u can photo the product u wased it could help me and others.
Man thanks a ton you literally changed the game for me, didn't know how to mount jewelery but had just bought dental wax and it works like freaking magic. And the best part is that you need like a microscopic portion of that wax for a ring to stand, so it's not even visible underneath the ring on a photo! Thanks again you saved so much of my time!)
Paul Reinhard - Neither are opals!! Bad bad 😣 to put them in the sonic! Turquoise is also a big no-no! Basically anything you cannot see through clearly is a good place to start. Emeralds are part of that list because they generally have quite a few inclusions or flaws that act like weak places in the matrix of the stone and cause them to just shatter when hit with the strong vibrations of the ultrasonic cleaner. Even the very good quality man-made emeralds aren't a good idea to put in the ultrasonic.
Just uploaded how I shoot jewelry in “a day in my life” working version, I’ve been shooting jewelry for 4 years full time and plan on doing tons of tutorials ❤️

What witchcraft did you use to make the ring stand up?
hahaha
What? Are you talking about "jewelry wax"? Are you talking about the wax product that is craved to make molds for jewelry?
Robert Mohr google tacky wax. 🌝
what the heck is jewelry wax? I use 5 different type of waxes, carving wax, injection wax, 3d printing resin wax, plain beeswax and sticky wax and none of them are suitable for holding a ring up.
Just go to Amazon and search "Bard's Tacky Wax"
You are incredible, how simply You sorted things.
Thank you!
Thanks! I need to step up my jewelry pictures for my listings.
How do you get the ring to hold like this ?
The most important question! I came here to watch how to hold the ring like this and no single word about this :D

Dental wax, melt.
Or tacky wax

Bradley O Why? a light is a light at the end of the day, so long as its bright enough.
As a professional jewelry photographer with many years of experience, I can tell you that you can't use just any old light that's handy for proper jewelry photography lighting.
Bradley O his pictures turned out beautifully
@@Studio93013 Any lighting equipment you can recommend for beginners?
@@Studio93013 is it because it was reflecting light off the stone?
This is amazing! Cant wait to try it for my jewellery, Thank you
Incredible! What camera do you use and what cameras would you recommend in general for jewellery photography?
Awesome video! Thank you for the knowledge.
Clear and concise! Thanks!
how did you make it stand? :")
Thank you!!

No, the type of camera is irrelevant if you shoot from the same position as shown. It's all about the lighting.
How is the piece held in place?

Jewelry Holding Wax
For anyone who may stumble across this video, you can use museum wax to make it stand like that!
when I take photos of rings they always seem to appear very matte I use a light tent answer 3 studio lights. is it best not to use a light tent?
how do you get the piece off jewelry to stay up?
Brittany Tate - As someone else has recommended, they used something called "Jewelry Wax" to give it that "stay up straight" power!
I low key thought you said finger condoms and had to back it up for a second listen. 🤣
Jewelry photography is possible with tube light in a room evening and night time or should day light ?
Awesome! Thank you so much!
This looks exactly like the ruby ring from Fine Art Tips!
Nice tutorial but be careful people with ultrasonic cleaning. It's not recommended for all gemstones. It can damage certain gems.
What material do you use to make the ring stick there?
Hi Gail! We use a special positioning/holding wax that keeps the ring secure. You can purchase it at any craft store or online. Thanks! --Stuller Marketing

what are the lenses specs?
?
@@SanjayDevani - I'm pretty sure that the question refers to the specifications of the camera lens used to take good quality jewelry photos.
Garnets tend to shatter in the sonic machine and emeralds are not a good idea to put in as well.

how to get best photos of loose gemstones with using setup of photography
The positioning wax does the same. All you need is a small speck of it and a small toothpick or sorts.
Skipping main point how to hold the ring 💍 like this. 😁
No need to stand up the ring if you have the right lightbox... th-cam.com/video/RVO9Phs_Wbo/w-d-xo.html
