    Very nice idea with the Gobo, it gives a much richer standout feel to the stones! Going to try this technique!

      Yes, and I think it would be best to make a top notch gobo with exact pattern so the dark parts isn't all over the place. Thanks!

    Excellent video, thank you! I have been trying to shoot jewelry photography for many years for my finished work, the part that is always the hardest for me is getting all of my photography to look the same for e-commerce. It seems most websites just use a Lightbox or something to get that perfect white background for each shot, but I haven't really loved the results in doing it this way.

    Very nice! I shoot quite a bit of jewelry for a client's website, and I'll often hold a black card and move it around, now I'm kicking myself for not thinking to make some holes in it! I always learn something new from your channel. You're the best!

    To setup light for one product is kinda tricky to get it it 🎯💫 But if you shoot packshots with 100-200 products then it’s even more tricky. My clients d o n t want black parts in the crystal/stones. So my way is to have a softbox from the top and build a diffusion-tent to minimize reflections from the room. My tip is try not get to close with the camera because of the black reflection from the lens. Then focus stacking with tilt/shift and of course polarization filter. That helps me alot.

    Great tip with the speckled gobo! What do you think of using a cone?

    • @botvidsson
      @botvidsson  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Unfortunately, I forgot to test with the light cone, but it absolutely works. However, the light will then be very flat and one-dimensional and everything will look matte/dull. Then you have to add some black to liven up the jewels and gold surfaces, can be difficult to get close access with a cone, however it may work if you keep something black on the outside.

    Awesome. Playing with light. Love the nuance of the results and I bet the post production was interesting with all those shapes and angles.
    Good stuff Martin! 🙏🏽 Gracias!

      Thanks a lot! I cheated a bit in post, had to clean up the "diamonds" 😁 I'm not 100% happy with the result, as always, so I will keep testing with the next object - the necklace.

    hi i don’t know how to thank you enough for making these so easy for us! i hate to ask but id love to see a video where you talk about how you come up with these concepts. i mean how do you know how to light different, different products?

    For me, the hardest part of photographing jewelry is having good quality jewelry to photograph.

      Any camera, like Canon 5D mark 3 or 4. And a macro lens like Canon 100mm

    great demonstration, i have a question, what if i wanted to make the background more dark to build contrast ad make the stone more popping and still maintain the soft light ,

    Thank you so much for this video. Generally my clients ask me for jewelry on a white background (shiny rings and necklaces). I would greatly appreciate a video on this. By the way, we have seen in this video that when enlarging the image, the texture of the gold material was not ideal, as always happens in jewelry. Would it be possible to have a video of how you touch precious metals to give that soft look that they always look like?
    I know perfectly well that I ask a lot but I would love to see how you do it.
    Once again, thank you very much for your extraordinary work.

    • @botvidsson
      @botvidsson  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I will do a few more jewellery videos, hopefully it will give you some more insights. Not 100% sure what you're asking for, please tell me more, and be very specific what you like me to do/show.

    • @joanmorgades5004
      @joanmorgades5004 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@botvidsson Unfortunately I cannot include links to web pages where I could give you examples because TH-cam does not allow me to do so.
      What I would like to learn is how to illuminate a gold ring on a white background so that it completely retains its shiny appearance and how to retouch it so that it continues to maintain that shine, eliminating the imperfections inherent to manufacturing. I have even seen on fine jewelry websites how, after retouching, the rings look unreal, as if generated by CGI, with artificial shine.
      If you want I can send you some examples to the email you tell me.
