well, by disabling steam input the game is interpreting the controller for what it is -- and if the game recognises ps controllers you will get ps button prompts.... but you are also disabling steam input which imo is bad - steam input offers amazing features. This needs to be fixed in steam input where you can choose to send the inputs as a ps controller if you choose to.
I really wish we could force PS buttons even without a PS controller. I'm playing God of War on a windows handheld but I'm way more used to PS buttons. The handheld makes the buttons act as an Xbox controller by default. Some games I can mod in the buttons with a texture swap but haven't found anything for God of War.
@@RegenTinte80800 It is when you also play a lot of Nintendo games where the buttons are the same but swapped. I always have that half a second doubt where I have to think if they are swapped or not. In a game that has quick time events it's really annoying. When I can use PS buttons I don't need to think of that.
@@MightGuySevereLeafHurricane No. beside finding mods it doesn't seem possible. There are programs that will take a Playstation controller input and emulate a 360 controller but nothing for the other way around.

This will only work on games that support Playstation controllers natively. Games that only support XInput and Steam Input won't detect your controller if you turn Steam Input off.

@@PartyMemebers Not totally true. Doing this same thing with RDO makes the Dualsense not work at all, but it *does* have Playstation button prompts. My buddy has them working fine. I've never been able to get it to work consistently.

That only works with games that fully support playstation controllers. If you do that on games that don't support it, the controller won't work.
