I've played a lot of solitaire wargames over the past couple of years (including almost all of the DVG titles) but Phantom Fury remains my favorite. The system took me a while to get used to but after a couple of play-throughs, it really clicked and felt perfect for the setting. I would love to see more titles using this system (e.g. Stalingrad).
Great review. Brings a somewhat complex set of interactions into clear view. The game is sooooo intense. I have not played a game like this that makes the units feel so valued, yet you need to sacrifice them to achieve your objective. I think the replay value is truly a 2-4 play type of game, once you know it. It was as you say a good experience and I think given the high quality components a good value. game play> facebook DOT com/TheBigBoardGaming
