But there are long periods of when the sun is out and you can play on the Poipu Beach shoreline.
Sheraton Luau is twice a week: Mon & Wed 5:30 called Auli'i Luau, tickets online only.
Surf school is a nice shallow area. Easy place to learn. My daughters learned here as well.
The ocean suites are the best.
You can choose to be over the pool or on the southwest side which is very quiet and the suites are huge!
If you are a bride, reserve an ocean suite, ground level! You "walk out to the lawn" easy to dress and be right there on the path to the wedding site. Can pop in for changes, or freshen up, get a drink...
Luau is hot! wear sun glasses and a hat until the sun goes down. Sun screen on kids for the first hour.
Sun sets at 7 in summer months.
We don't time change.
Sun sets just after 6 in winter months.
Luau check in times may change due to this.
