    You’re not the only ones y’all! My house looks like a hurricane ripped through 95% of the time! Scratch cooking, farming, gardening, pets, kids. It’s lived in and fabulous! Y’all are killing it! ❤❤

    To the negative person that made that silly comment my response would have been, “maybe so but I don’t want to feel like crap my entire life. I want to enjoy my life to the fullest. I enjoy the process.”

    This is SUCH an important message! And heck yes, after a 3.5 day labor with my little girl, the BEST aspects in life require the greatest strength, sacrifice, and hard work. They wouldn't be that amazing if they came easy, right!? You keep being you!!

    Five years ago I found your channel. I had just gone through 5 years of being bedridden with migraines and seizures. I made the bold decision to come off all my pharmaceuticals and heal my body. Then Covid happened and I had a lot of alone time on my hands. I watched yours and many others videos dreaming of one day having my own homestead. I taught myself how to garden, bake bread, preserve food, raise chickens and pigs. In 20 days it will be our 1 year anniversary of buying our dream farm. I'm in the middle of planning a 3500 sq ft garden...plus other side gardens haha! Thank you for your overrated content, you helped influence my life greatly. Congrats on 100k!!

    I’m in my early 60’s however I was raised in the city. I was not taught how to garden, I didn’t start gardening until I was in my late forties. There’s no comparison to watching my tomatoes, peppers and green beans grow and then harvest them wash them up and eat them.

    I love your response to said comment. My heart always hurts for those who I think really feel discouraged that they feel they can't make a change and live the same way, and some truly just don't recognize how much of a difference this lifestyle makes in how they feel physically, mentally and spiritually. I always pray for them because in my opinion, coming back to the garden inevitably draws you closer to the Lord, something we all need.

    Congratulations on 100,000 subscribers. Like you, I usually start my seeds inside my home with grow lights, and warmers. Last grow season, I planted a lot seeds in trays and they started to pop up little seedlings. I ended up with these little nats all over the soil, seedlings, and then in my house. In the end, I got the seedlings outside, and killed/got rid of all the nats. Have you ever had this issue. This time, I've decided to start my seeds outside in old plastic milk cartons (this gives you the atrium/greenhouse affect). I'm hoping this process works. I've seen several gardeners use this process. I have one worry, this Wednesday our temperatures will drop to 15 degrees. I'll need to wrap several blankets around the milk cartons, and make sure the cartons are not sitting directly in the ground.
    Have fun planting seeds.😊

    • @WhisperingWillowFarm
      @WhisperingWillowFarm  14 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +2

      I’ve never had a gnat problem on my seedlings. More than likely they came from the soil you used. Lots of times, the gnat eggs are in the soil and when it gets wet and warm, the eggs hatch

    • @sandyoklahomatransient8557
      @sandyoklahomatransient8557 13 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +1

      @WhisperingWillowFarm I thought it was the bagged soil from lowes. The gnats (thanks for correcting) loved hanging around and in the seedlings. That season has passed, now I hope the milk cartons worked. Thanks😊

    • @bethsands7665
      @bethsands7665 24 นาทีที่ผ่านมา

      I have had this issue every time I used potting soil to start my seedlings indoors as the rich, thick soil holds onto water and the fungus-gnats thrive on that and literally appear out of nowhere to lay eggs whose young will feast on tender seedling roots. I learned that a soil-less medium is the way to go when growing inside : vermiculite, sand, worm castings etc.

    Love that short lecture 😊. It is so true and resonates. I'm just sorry you feel like the "odd ones out" where you live. I didn't expect that. The culture and some of the old fashioned way of thinking about some things is waining these days. There is a shift of sorts. Keep going. The negative can be tiring if you let it under your skin. The reason of the how and the why you choose to live is yours and you do inspire. 🌻. Aaannnd...Congratulations! 😊

    Awe love you Jill and so agree some are so negative about this and wven rubs off on our child because our kid will say things like my health more important then so and so and even gotten in trouble over it. I was so frustrated and your probably right they might be some jealously and lack of understanding. We do this for our kids health for ours and no am not at that point of sou dough ..i would like to be for sure but we grow as much as we can for one because we chose to step down for jobs so we can farm more. So we can be more of the slow life style. Thanks for sharing i always love your positive energy!!!

    I had a friend once who went out and purchased breakfast, lunch and dinner every single day. It was so alien to me. It took him waaay longer to go to the store and buy his food than it took me to cook an egg and some toast, make a sandwich, cook a steak and some vegetables. Not to mention the serious health violations that come from eating takeaway all the time. Some people are just on a different trajectory than I.

    Oh guys...don't even worry about your messy house! I guarantee 95% of our houses look like that, especially when we're homeschooling, and trying to start seeds!🤪😆 Remember, the enemy will use all kinds of people and things to try to bring us down, and not fulfill the purpose God gives each one of us. We need to pray for those poor people who have that outlook on life that God will open their eyes, and bring them the kind of joy you guys have in the work you do! You totally bring me joy and motivation to do better! We need your wisdom friends! Big hugs to y'all!
    I was wondering, what is your favorite seed starting soil, AND if someone's greenhouse got totally destroyed by spring storms last year, ( and insurance barely gave you enough to fix the roof on your house, let alone your greenhouse) would you try to rebuild it, or go the high tunnel route? Thanks!😁

    Whether you believe in a Christian God or in any other spiritual system, it would be hard to deny that this life we have as human beings is a gift - from a God or just a miracle that happened in the universe. Whatever you believe, not acknowledging and appreciating the amazing body we inhabit and the world around us seems very sad. If you don't care about the miracle that is you then you can never truly care about all of the family and friends and all the souls on this earth, also very sad. Life must seem very pointless in that case. Now that I am an old lady, these are things that I do think about, a lot. And sometimes, it does seem pretty overwhelming. But I refuse to check out, I refuse to stop trying to do better, I refuse to stop trying to help others who want to do better. I only want joy in my heart - not hate or hopelessness or selfishness. And growing my garden and cooking delicious, healthy food brings joy. With everything that is happening these days, that is no small thing and it is something that I can control while so much else I feel that I cannot.

    If people don’t agree 👍🏼 with what you’re doing they shouldn’t watch ur channel & just live an ignorant life if they just want instant satisfaction. Of course there are also always trolls 👿 unfortunately 😐😠
