I too love both balls.. but I'd say since they're so evenly matched, and one helps you or at least gives you more confidence in putting, go with that one.. dropping more putts in my mind would cancel out the how even they are among all the other clubs.
I’ve played the Tour Stripe the past week or so since the first video. Definitely been helping with alignment off the tee as well as on the green. A bit more than I would normally pay for balls (usual is AD333) but the increased confidence and straighter of the peg makes it worth it. Thanks for the videos.
I have been using the tour response for 3 years now. It was the previous project A ball. Love the new look. I always used the yellow version. I bought 3 dozens -2 yellow and 1 stripe. So I may just go with the stripe version this year.
Thanks for another great review. I’ve tried these balls just the other day, and what I found was similar distances off the tee in low wind. I lost yardage with my irons to the tune of almost a full club length vs playing a ProV1 though. Where I live we deal with lots of wind and these lower compression balls just balloon every time you try to hit one on windy days. Where ProV1s are much easier to control, and fight the wind much much better! Also around the greens there is a big difference in the spin you get off these vs a high end premium ball. It all depends on your skill set. These aren’t bad balls, they just don’t fit what someone like me is looking for and the conditions I play in. I think if your swing speed is in the low to mid 80s, then these would be great for you. You’d probably pick up some good yardage throughout your bag!
I’ve recently bought both sets of balls and love them! My problem is, I like them so much that I don’t even use them because I’m worried I’m going to lose them, which is a real possibility. I know it’s ridiculous but that’s what I’m thinking haha.
I am in the same position, whenever I use a brand new ball I typically manage to lose it within half a dozen holes. Find a ball and I have it for several rounds. Would not be too bad but the TP5 even with a special price was over £3 a ball
I've found if I only keep 1 ball out and treat it like my last one I don't lose them as much. Plus you don't take any crazy risks that could hurt you. Just play it no matter how bad you hit it.
I was bothered about this too and usually lose a couple a round. Changed to the AD333 and haven't lost a ball in 36 holes. Probably a coincidence, but maybe it helps somewhat subconsciously!
Tested this ball with Gaz, it’s good really helps with putts saves time trying to keep your eye on a tiny drawn line. Don’t see why you’d pay the extra for TP
Playing my first round of the year this weekend! Will be trying the Wilson Triad. I have lots of RZN golf balls to use, though I am tempted by the Stripe.
I loved the project A ball, but as an older player I have a lot of trouble seeing a white ball in flight. I have a box of the tour response and will play them as soon as the weather permits. If the green stripe makes it easier to see in flight then I will play them.
Couldn’t agree more James. Loved the Tour response last year. This year’s version with the stripe has been awesome. Love the feedback, especially on green.
I am currently playing the Callaway Chrome Soft “practice” ball. Mainly because it’s a premium ball, but at only $29.99 USD. I have been trying out the Tour Response Stripe as well and I will be putting it in play next week when I get to play TPC Sawgrass.
Used the stipe for the last couple of rounds and it’s honestly made a huge difference to my putting. Can’t see myself using anything else for the foreseeable.
My favourite ball is the callaway ERC soft, however, having just changed my irons to Orka's, I will be having a ball fitting soon as I don't want to lose the spin I've just gained with the irons.
Guess it’s all about round the green performance for you. Most companies that do a ball fit should work from the green outwards not the tee if that makes sense.
I've used the all white Tour Response all 2022 season (110 rounds). I have mixed in the stripe version throughout the year. I like using the stripe for putt alignment but I don't use the alignment on the tee. The Tour Response is an excellent ball that performs as good at TP5 or Titleist ProV1. I am currently paying between $34.99 - $39.99 (USA) depending on where I buy.
I used to play TP(5) back a number of years ago. For some reason I went on a journey of Titleist, Callaway, Bridgestone and finally Kirkland last year. I remembered my love for the feel of the TP(5). I went with the Tour response stripe this winter and I am loving it again!! I guess either choice you make is a winner, James.
I tried out the Tour Response about a month ago (all yellow) and fell in love with it vs. my yellow ProV1's. Why, it flew just a far but is a lower spin ball, hence it rolls out much further. Around the green it doesn't feel any different than the ProV1, though it runs out a bit more. Being a bump and run player, I've found I can better estimate the run out then estimating the significant checking action I get from the Pro V1. I agree the stripe version could help with putting alignment, but I never even used a line on the ball for that, such the highly visible all yellow works for me.
One thing of note between those two balls is that the Taylormade tour response is actually a remake of the Taylormade project (a). Which was also a premium cover soft compression golf ball. Now I would be curious to see what the difference between the two balls are in different climates. As a Taylormade player I use the TP5/TP5X, I play those two balls throughout the spring and summer months. However when temperatures start to dip below 50° or lower golf balls start to compress less and less. So with that said using a Tour Response or another softer compression golf ball in the cooler temperatures will counterbalance that loss of compression due to colder temperatures. I would argue that that was why you saw your drives on the first 2 holes go farther with the Tour response in the cold outside elements, then become closer in total distance in the climate controlled indoor test.
I putted so well last week with these I'll continue to use them for putting. I'm sticking with the pix for all other shots. I play with close friends every weekend and we all have putting balls we use after marking our ball.
Stripes in my bag Tuesday. First few greens I took the time to align stripe didn’t notice any improvements. Weather was cold so nothing carried off the tee. I’ll try the stripes tomorrow and decide if I’ll play them next week.
Tp5x and pro v1x. Still trying to decide what I’ll use this season. Have been using the Taylormade all of last season but shot my best round ever the other day with the pro v
I love trying out new balls My stock ball is the Titleist AVX I love it but not the price I’ve tried these new tour response and I can’t stand them around the green they feel horrible and very little spin
I shoot a vice pro soft. But I will be switching to the kirkland golf ball once I run out. They don't feel as soft around the greens, but they do go further off the woods and cost much less.
My dad used to be a groundskeeper at a course here, and from that he has friends whom still work there. In the summer, once a month he brings over a rubbermaid tub full of balls he finds while working on the course early in the mornings. Golf is already unaffordable, so these are the balls I use. And am very thankful for them :)
Picked up a box of the yellow ones , and used them yesterday, super impressed. Perfect compression for me an 11 handicapper. Long off the driver and the backspin into the green with an 8 iron cost me a par 3 nearest the pin prize! Didn’t go for the stripe as I only need a line on the ball for putting.
Great video, I play the TP5 pix , it’s a difficult ball to switch from but I may give the tour response ago, since it’s still cold in Michigan I may get more distant with it in the spring
Your putting has been so good this year and changed your scoring a lot and the balls are so similar of tee I think it should come down too which one you like putting the most… do a match play video of just putting on a green and see which ball gives you most confidence
Hi James, Played TP5 for few years. Great ball. Recently switched to Callaway Chrome Soft Triple Track. Love the alignment, really helps off the tee, never mind the putts. Chris.
Being someone who loves new golf balls and I have dozens of TP5 and Pro V1 in my garage I have just purchased a dozen striped I think they look superb and can’t wait to try them on Saturday
James, would love to see your short game numbers with these two balls. As per your other video, I found the balls very similar in distance but the short game spin on the tour response was shown to be terrible in the MyGolfSpy 2021 ball test. I’ve seen the same on the course, the 2021 tour response didn’t stop round the greens.
After watching your review of the new Wilson Triad, I bought 3 boxes ($39.99 per box). Love them. Shot back to back 39s to kick off my season. Also playing the Maxfli Straightfli and pretty happy with it as well.
Currently using the Maxfli straightfli balls. I only use it due to my slice and it seems to help offset it. But I am looking to game the tour response stripe though.
I normally play the Soft Response, but I purchased the Stripe to help my putting. I also play thee QStar Tour Divide and the Callaway ERC Triple Trac which I feel help my putting. Will let you know how the Stripe performs next week! Play the Stripe, James! Great Review! Thanks!
I'm considering using these this year over pro v1, based on price. I liked the previous version project a. If the driver numbers are similar then surely you have to go with the ball that suits your game from 100 yards and closer.
Im am a bridgestone tour xs guy. Love the feel/spin around the green. Love it off the putter. Feel great off the irons, spins a little more off the driver.. that is marginal though. Plus i get hooked up on pricing. So that helps too
Used the TP5 over the last couple of seasons, brought a pack of 3 TR stripes just to see what they are like. Played after work during the week and lost one out of bounds on the 5th hole, played one of the remaining two this weekend and won the match between our 3 ball. Found it really help with putting. Unless TM make a TP5 ball with the stripe in the future I'll be changing over to the TR stripe for the foreseeable.
I'm using the Callaway Chromesoft 2022 for the warmer months It's taken me back to an insert putter, as it feels too firm on my old Anser Feels straighter than last years And now I need new wedges too, because it's clear my lack of spin is that the old ones are completely worn out.... Over the winter, I was using yellow Chromesofts and Supersofts and matt green Supersofts - when the ball was cold, I preferred these, and dodgy ground conditions cost a few. I suspected the matt finish had a bit more grip, which I wasn't expecting.
Trying out the Honma TW-X. 3 piece Urethane ball for £19 a dozen, best value on the market by miles. So far I'm not noticing any drop off from the AVX or Bridgestone Tour BRX. I did love the Taylormade Project(a) which I think the Tour Response replaced?
I’d say use which ever you like better. I would think the stripe one would drive me nuts when not driving or putting since you can’t set the ball up and the stripe would likely not be exactly lined up how you want to hit.
Currently using TM Response in yellow. Really enjoy the urethane cover etc of the 3piece ball. Playing tomorrow and will try the stripe. Bought a bix and will use a few for outting practice in my Puttout mat.
TM TR Stripe has awkward durablity. The stripe was scratched, had scuffs and nicks after 8 partial wedge shots. The Srixon divide performs much better in this regard. Dimple pattern, softness is really nice. Flight characteristics are good. Measured ball compression at 78.
I found one of these balls on my course and played with it. Usually prefer the ProV1. After 4 holes with the Tour Response i wrnt out and bought 2 dozen. More distance, nuce sidt feel around the green. Fortuitous find.
Currently using the Chromesoft. I work at a golf course so cost is below retail. I have options to use ProV1 or Srixon. Chromesoft just works better for me. Goes far and stops on the green. Looks like it is still cold where you are. We are pushing 80deg F/27deg C.
I game the Kirkland V2 when staring at a tough hole. The high spin gives me more control. I game the Maxfli CGx on a normal hole as they carry a long way for my 90mph swing speed.
I play the tp5x pix normally, but I tried the tour response and I truly love the ball! The tp5x is still my go to, but for 10$ USD less the tour response is now my #2. I play the response on courses that I don’t think require the additional benefits the tp5x adds. Awesome ball!
Currently Using TM TR, because my swing speed less then 100mph, i can feel i get more distance out of TR then tp5x, it took me about 6 rounds to getting use to TR balls, now i love it. very tempted to by TR stripe.
Great video. I have just bought a box of the Tour Response Stripe and will use them for the first time tomorrow. I normally use a Callaway Super Soft as I have a slower swing speed.
Using Vice Pro. But like the Stripe and our pro shop has them in already - so might try a dozen ... I usually play with a yellow or neon green ball so the color works for me.
Friend of mine used the new Tour Response at the weekend, he's a 14 HCP and scored 41 Stableford points. He's always been a ball striker but putting let him down... with these it was like he couldn't miss!
Titleist Pro V1 and Callaway Chrome Soft Truvis. Love a soft feel ball and these both feel soft and will stop on a dime. I think I’ll try the Tour Response Stripe just because I like the stripe for alignment. 5 handicap.
Great video James. For me it boils down to drive for show putt for dough and if they tour response gives you more confidence on the greens and will ultimately lower your score then definitely putt the tour response in the bag.
Like the concept of both, but I must use yellow balls due to distance vision problem. After trying all premium yellow balls, I found the Bridgestone Tour B RX to be the best ball for me, Srixon Z Star XV a close second and Pro V1 was well short of both in distance. Since the Tour Response has a very wide yellow strip, I may give it a go to see if it works for me and if I can see it past 200 yards
I normally play the Callaway Crome Tripple Track, mainly because of the alignment aid that it gives me during putting. I will try the TM stripe to see how that does against the Tripple Track. With the stripes cover, hopefully I will get the same feel around the greens.
Insofar as my bagged global, I use the 2022 Titleist AVX after using the Srixon Z Star for about three years. The AVX is just a little better across most ball characteristics (lower spin off driver, marginally longer, good wedge spin, etc.)
I love the TP5 and used it all last season but this season been trying q & z divide and really like them. I also just recieved my dozen of the stripe so we'll see which ones wins out over the next few rounds
Got to be the Stripe. Great video, as always. Interesting to hear your comments James about how you line it up on the tee. How do you feel about it being mis-aligned on the fairway, wherever it lands?
I play the Bridgestone Tour B RXS as my swing speed is about 90-95 mile per hour and this is the recommended Bridgestone ball for my clubhead speed. They cost about £38 but cheaper if you buy in bulk.
Currently playing Wilson Staff DX3's as I couldn't find a Taylormade ball I liked in the right price bracket. Picking up my new 3 wood today so might just grab a dozen of the tour response to try while I'm there.
I'm using the tour response for the last two years. It was the better option for me compared to the titleist tour soft and the callaway supersoft. Absolutely love them. Marking the balls with the "triple track" design for my putting. Now ordered the Wilson Triad and the tour response stripe. When they come in, I will test them on the course to decide wich ball will be put in the bag!
I think I would struggle with the stripe. I love pix as off the green a line etc I find off putting but great visibility. I would like the pix in yellow
I like the looks of those TM balls, but I switched from Vice to the Bridgestone TOUR B RXS "Reactive Cover" this year. I don't know if it's all in my head, but the Bridgestone balls do feel softer around the greens and pitch and chip shots, but hard off the tee and launch as far as my Vice balls did. So for me, it was the feel and performance. I can paint an alinement line on my ball to match the new TM balls, if I wanted to.
I'm currently using prov1 and prov1x over run that I got for like 35 a dozen and stocked up some months back and like them, but these look so nice. I loved the Callaway erc with the 3 lines on it. These just look so good. I don't know if I can even find those here since everywhere I look they are out of stock. Love the videos! Keep up the good work!
My slow swing speed isn't conducive to these higher compression balls. I've been playing TaylorMade Noodle Neons for the past 3 years and am quite happy with their play for my swing speed. They don't cut or scuff easily and they're inexpensive too!
I am totally sold on the response stripe I play off 20.8 and managed a 9 and 8 over at my local membership course. Only slight problem with the stripe is that I have noticed the stripe starting to come away from the ball. It takes a few holes to zone into the stripe but when you've got it it seems hard to miss. Off the t I find the stripe pointing to the right helps me to achieve an in to out swing heling to minimise my slice and I've even seen a draw or two. WIN WIN it's in my bag💪😍👍 ps thanks for the reviews and all you do it's transforming my golf game.
Yes I bought a dozen on Monday and used one yesterday. Pleased with the performance but I was disappointed that the green paint was starting to peel off after less than 9 holes. Seed balls do a great ball called The Jack which are very good and less than £30 per dozen.
I've been playing the AVX in yellow for a couple yrs now, but have been really considering trying this stripe ball since your 1st video on them. I also like the vice pro drip balls as well. James, go with the stripe for awhile, you really enjoy it and it works better with your putter.
I'm currently using the Vice pro plus. Paid 32 bucks a dozen but you have to buy five dozen to get that price. I bought them because they feel good around the green, plenty of spin, good distance with my driver and they're massively durable.
Use the stripe you definitely putt it better! I’m hoping to try the stripe when our course opens in 4 weeks when I try different balls to pick mine for the season! I’ve been Pro V1X for several seasons.
Last year I used the Callaway Superset Magna. this year I have gone to the Callalway Superset Max. (both in yellow) I find it suits my game a little better. As visually impaired golfer, I don't always hit the ball perfectly and the oversize ball is a little more forgiving. Plus it is easier for me to spot after my partner has driven up to it. It may be a little shartter off the club face, but no more than half a club. You have to hit long putts a little harder, but hat is just a matters adjustment.
I'm currently playing the Inesis Tour 900 in yellow, works great for me (not the longest of the "tour" balls, but probably one of the spiniest, and great feeling too). They come at 28 quids a dozen, which is probably the main reason I play them instead of the ProV1x left dash (which is the longest, even if it's not that spiny).
I've used the regular tour response on and off for a couple of yrs while trying to find the right ball for me and keep coming back to them. I want to try the stripe though to see if the alignment aid helps.
I too love both balls.. but I'd say since they're so evenly matched, and one helps you or at least gives you more confidence in putting, go with that one.. dropping more putts in my mind would cancel out the how even they are among all the other clubs.
Agreed Chris. From his own admission, James was feeling that he was holing more putts with the “stripe” ball. I think that answers the question.
Agreed, not to mention he can save $5 a dozen.

I was bothered about this too and usually lose a couple a round. Changed to the AD333 and haven't lost a ball in 36 holes. Probably a coincidence, but maybe it helps somewhat subconsciously!
That’s why I keep top fights and pro v’s in the bag some are going ob I just got to hope I got the right ball teed up when the ob is in play haha
Buy used ones for cheaper and you wont care if you lose it...
That's what I do with my pro vs
Get the near mint ones for 2$
Tested this ball with Gaz, it’s good really helps with putts saves time trying to keep your eye on a tiny drawn line.
Don’t see why you’d pay the extra for TP
Playing my first round of the year this weekend! Will be trying the Wilson Triad. I have lots of RZN golf balls to use, though I am tempted by the Stripe.

My favourite ball is the callaway ERC soft, however, having just changed my irons to Orka's, I will be having a ball fitting soon as I don't want to lose the spin I've just gained with the irons.
“Sit, go, stay”!! Must be a very obedient golf ball, that Stripe!! 🤣😆. Love your videos James! 👍🏼

May try the tour response. Currently alternating between TheTitelist velocity and the Wilson Triad. Like them both.
I’d be interested to see how they compare from scoring distances. How they compare with mid irons to wedges on the greens over a round.
Use the Stripe. I too am intrigued by it. I just bought a box and will use it when we play our first round of golf here in Michigan.

Hi James,

The Tour Response reminds me of the old school RBZ Ball that was also 3 piece and had a urethane cover. I used to love playing them.

Currently using the Maxfli straightfli balls. I only use it due to my slice and it seems to help offset it. But I am looking to game the tour response stripe though.
Stripe. I think anything which appears to help hole more puts is a difference maker. I am looking to try it as soon as I can be outside
I normally play the Soft Response, but I purchased the Stripe to help my putting. I also play thee QStar Tour Divide and the Callaway ERC Triple Trac which I feel help my putting. Will let you know how the Stripe performs next week! Play the Stripe, James! Great Review! Thanks!

Where are you getting that ball at that price? I play these in Italy - love them - but £19/doz is a mad deal.
Huge test!! love it
And always putting divots back in place I LOVE THAT!!! You're a boss
I really liked the old Project A for winter balls. Normally play prov1x or Bridgestone BX.
Currently using the Chromesoft. I work at a golf course so cost is below retail. I have options to use ProV1 or Srixon. Chromesoft just works better for me. Goes far and stops on the green. Looks like it is still cold where you are. We are pushing 80deg F/27deg C.
I've played with both and the stripe is great but after 13 holes I noticed a little cut on the cover but they are definitely my ball for the season
Tried the stripe felt I got a bit more pop with my irons and love it off the putter. Another colour would be great.
Titleist Pro V1 and Callaway Chrome Soft Truvis. Love a soft feel ball and these both feel soft and will stop on a dime. I think I’ll try the Tour Response Stripe just because I like the stripe for alignment. 5 handicap.
Currently playing Wilson Staff and trying out the Triad.
Budget I would use the stripe. I am like you I play the tp5x right now but I will try the stripe next time I buy golf balls
I normally play the Callaway Crome Tripple Track, mainly because of the alignment aid that it gives me during putting. I will try the TM stripe to see how that does against the Tripple Track. With the stripes cover, hopefully I will get the same feel around the greens.
Have been using the Srixon Z star for several years, now but would like to test these Stripes out - if nothing else, for holing more putts
Time for a change james. Going to get the Stripe and the Triad to try both. Use pro-v1 at the moment but.....
The greenkeepers repairing your divots on the tee 😀👍🏼the dog just stole the show 😂
Insofar as my bagged global, I use the 2022 Titleist AVX after using the Srixon Z Star for about three years.
I am eager to trying the stripe It maybe a good option for you. If all things consider equal, the putting alignment may win out.
Got to be the Stripe.
Great video, as always.
Interesting to hear your comments James about how you line it up on the tee.
How do you feel about it being mis-aligned on the fairway, wherever it lands?
currently using Titleist tour soft at approx 30 pound dozen, but thinking of changing to the stripe, as I like the feel.
I play the tour response and the Titleist velocity. I chose these balls for my average swing speed and both balls having a mid compression.
I play the Bridgestone Tour B RXS as my swing speed is about 90-95 mile per hour and this is the recommended Bridgestone ball for my clubhead speed. They cost about £38 but cheaper if you buy in bulk.
Always nice to have a change James I do like the stripe might invest in some trying the Wilson Triad just now though
I use the TP5 and TP5x. Great distance and great feel off the club face.
Currently playing Wilson Staff DX3's as I couldn't find a Taylormade ball I liked in the right price bracket.
Picking up my new 3 wood today so might just grab a dozen of the tour response to try while I'm there.
I used to use the previous model to the tour response, the project A and loved them, never really tried the TP5 unless I found one lol
We've had the stripe in our shop for a couple of weeks now alongside the pix and have outsold the latter easily... Seems to be a very popular ball
I think I would struggle with the stripe. I love pix as off the green a line etc I find off putting but great visibility. I would like the pix in yellow
I use pinnacle soft. I just like the way it feels and the controll on chips
Looks like you’re getting more spin on the TP5X (which makes sense). I think the Tour Response performance is phenomenal.
I'll be sticking with my tp5 pix balls. Been using them for a year and a love them
I like the looks of those TM balls, but I switched from Vice to the Bridgestone TOUR B RXS "Reactive Cover" this year.
I play the Tour Response and love it for it's consistency from tee to green, but still have longer drives and better rounds with the Pro-V1.
Vice Pro Plus for me based on performance for the price. But want to try the Tour Response, might even buy some just to practice putting with!
Played 3 rounds with the Stripe and not seen any impact on the paint as yet, though I did lose 3......!
Just got a dozen of the tour response stripe. Can’t wait to get them out on the course!
Supersoft
I'm currently playing the Inesis Tour 900 in yellow, works great for me (not the longest of the "tour" balls, but probably one of the spiniest, and great feeling too). They come at 28 quids a dozen, which is probably the main reason I play them instead of the ProV1x left dash (which is the longest, even if it's not that spiny).
I've used the regular tour response on and off for a couple of yrs while trying to find the right ball for me and keep coming back to them. I want to try the stripe though to see if the alignment aid helps.
