- Since FGO NA has been pushing the game so much to new players for a couple months now so I decided to make a new account to see what was all the fuzz about! 😈
This is my first time doing a FGO "video essay" but I always wanted to do one so I'm really happy about it and I hope you enjoy it! 😳

Its never too late to get into the FGO or the Nasuverse, you can start from anywhere, i literally first fouund out about The Fate through Carnival Phantasm, and that made want to go dreeper into the rabbit hole.
I fell in through the Apocrypha anime. It’s a good thing I watched that first because I liked it and the general consensus was it was really mid compared to other Fates 😬
@@kaz7690 apocrypha is nice too, all the jokes in carnival phantasm flew over my head until i went through the other fate series and rewatched it again, it felt more funny cause i got the jokes now.😂😂
Carnival Phantasm is how i got into Tsukihime so yeah, anywhere is a good starting place

I got into Fate and the whole Nasuverse as a whole from Learning with Manga. TH-cam recommended me the FGO Learning with Manga anime and introduced me to the abomination named Gudako, I got curious and read all the FGO Learning with Manga manga in one sitting. Then, I watched Apocrypha anime and from there, more into the rabbit hole.
Imagine 1 copy of hans is more difficult to get than 4 gong copies 😐

I recommended a friend the Fate Go game, she was a little bit not into it, but Emiya archer appeared in her screen and she asked me: who is this cool "canelita pasión" guy ?, I told her he appears in the anime of fate and now she has seen almost everything for fate anime and she is finishing camelot singularity in the game, I'm so proud of her, I feel like I created a cute little monster ;3
Hell nah, this game ruin my life, 10/10
Honestly it's worth more playing now than before with the right mindset of rather than feeling like you missed out you instead can take the story and game at your own pace.
Though I still wish they'd just give hunting quests and half ap exp runs while dead weeks are up. More dead weeks more time for new players to catch up which is a negative for veterans but a positive to new players to get through the main story
The only thing I hope they 🔧 is pure prism mechanisms

Also to add to my point. The low starts just get better by the year too. Hans had a massive glow up. Xu fuu comes next year to make anyone who doesn't have castoria not miss out on much and so on.
Ssr starter unit. If they wanna whale they got a gssr and possibly start with Merlin while the rest of the list all have buffs too.
While i don't like what Jp did to the starter sr list in the game they give you a fair strong list while na hasn't changed it yet so you can possibly get Helena too.
Game is a lot more welcoming and only fomo is what people think holds them back like Camelot.

I needs hans more as he and miyu combination with support gogh can beat any boss with super easy (their star/hp from np) and yet gong spooks me so often yet I don't really need him (well he carried me in early game)
Also I quite surprised as they give me chance me to choose your own ssr (for me waver) this time unlike in the past
@@lordtea yeah it was an edition they added which I feel is great for people who like fsn and any part of the series. You can start with artoria if you like her. Reroll for emiya to have both

If you are new in FGO and come only for plot, than better to watch a video on yt than play the game and waste time.

I also got into FGO during 2020, but I honestly wasn't thinking about if I was getting into the game late
My answer is always the same, the earlier, the better, but nowadays, they give so many advantages to new players that old players did not have back then that is insane, the game is really F2P specially at the beginning with the absurd amount of quartz one gets

Imo the best time to start any gacha game is almost always immediately since gacha games are a marathon, not a sprint, and the sooner you play the more you can get.

Now is the good start because its before LB7 which requires a lot of servant to fight against ort. I already max levelled servant up to 80-90 servant out of 140-150.
My honest opinion os that theres absolutely no reason to play a game where the devs clearly dont want to put effort in and improve. FGO is currently a living corpse of a game, being sustained by the IP alone while so many other better gachas release and put 10x more effort than FGO just to make a fraction of their revenue (and no, being an old game is not an excuse, Battle Cats is older than FGO and has improved 100x more in comparison).
It' very sad but its the truth, I don't think this game is EoS soon but I also dont see a future where the game gets better.
Honestly, for anybody who wants to get into Nasuverse stuff, a piece of advice I'd have is just don't be intimidated by how "complicated" it is. It's like comic books, just take what you want and leave, you don't need to get deep into the lore or anything like that. Not to mention that it runs on Rule of Cool. The guys who are in too deep might object, but really, none of the rules and philosophy and stuff matters that much unless you WANT it too. Just enjoy what you watch or read!
Its worth playing if youre new to RPG or looking something fresh. If youre here for the loop deloop, you'll get bored fast
When I started playing I think two years ago, my very first 4* was Heracles. Absolutely a carry throughout the singularities. I do think it's rather easy to burn out on FGO, though. It's dated (both in obvious target demographic and in just how combat functions, how the gacha is, etc) and it has a fuuuck ton of story to get through at this point. I've still only gotten to Scandanavia recently. The writing for events in particular can be hit or miss too, and was the main source of my own burnout (fuck Servant Summer Camp). I think most people are like that with their first gacha game though. As a first gacha, this one might be a bit rough. It's still absolutely doable though, especially if one is mindful of just how they interact with it (if it's taking up too much daily time and making you feel bad, then just cut down on it; you'll never make it through the story if you try to blitz through everything all at once).
I hate this Herc hard carry talk . My first starter was goddamn Stheno and I'm telling you I was having a blast using her , had her on my team from the start till fricking Camelot and goddamn did I find myself enjoying playing story .
This sounds dumb but I tried making a new account , rerolled for carry and stuff and getting through the story was the worst cuz it was a flow chart of clicking reds with the same battles repeating a thousand times . Meanwhile when I just started you’d find me struggling on Jalter boss fight with Mash , Stheno and support Jeanne , you would find me trying my ways around demon god pillars which were the pinnacle of tough battles for me and yet such stuff was the most enjoyable stuff in this game cuz I swear people are getting wasted with this grind meta stuff when you can enjoy the game by using servants who are rough around the edges and stuff

It's never too late to start, what you need is patience (like getting trough the first few chapters that are boring) since i see so many new players adding me to only then be offline and never logged back in (please guys there's actual good story just be patient to finally reach it)

Don't blame them for quitting, the early singularities are so awful it's better to just play a gacha game that's good since the beginning.
The later you start FGO, the easier it actually gets
You can beat every story node (until LB7 and that too only when alien spoderman shows up) with ease. Besides, they now give us embers and mats for story progression which will help your servants hit FA faster and the most important QoL update of all, CUM PRISMS
so ya start later if you want to, the game will only get easier as the days progress
i started at 2023 and i think its the best year to start the game. i manage to got my self np5 gong (which not really hard), and castoria. and choose free tamamo in anni 6 and got ruler da vinci + ocean flyer in summer for free. 3T farm def make the grind more bearable
- Start the jp fgo in 2016 but i lost it (still have the friend code but not used and low level).
- Started fgo english version in 2018 and idk wtf happen. I just love fate franchise because of fsn deen version and so on... Also, still playing my main NA account.
- restared my 2nd jp account in 2020 because of castoria and the rest ia history...

What got me into the Fate series was the Doujins
For new players just use your 3 command seals to resurrect all your servants in boss battles to beat hard content and then let it regen for 3 days to use it again in said boss or hard battles.
I've personally used that to my advantage in 2020 as I started out and it works well!
Just make sure the boss or hard battles already have like half health that way using the command seals isn't wasted to resurrect all servants.
This is the best way new players can overcome hard content without having meta supports yourself.
Or use quartz, 1 quartz is not too big or hard to earn
Might as well tell these players to not play the freaking game. What's the point of all this TURN BASED STRATEGY RPG if you just not gonna use strategy and gonna cheese every single boss fight with CS? I honestly can't understand this way of thinking, the game is completely doable without any meta shit if you just actually play the game.
Ive enjoyed myself, it’s honestly better to start playing now probably than it was prior because they give you more quartz now.
As someone who started the fate series from prisma illya I can tell. Start from wherever you like most.
I started watching prisma Illya to clean the bitter taste that Madoka magica left and never regretted it.

I'm only sad Prisma Illya has such a bad reputation in the community when the manga is so awesome, especially 3rei which is unironically one of the best Fate works overall

I played the game 2 years late in JP serv (found out abt FGO in 2017) and I think it's was too late and too hard to catch up so once FGO NA introduced in later month I jumped in immediately, that way I won't lose anything since the start.
However as the years go by and FGO NA went older itself tbh I think new players are having FAR easier way to catch up, in terms of in-game design and rewards (like *5 selector, many OP farming servants even just from support, older welfares in store) and the community is now bigger and make navigating the game easier as we have like fgotranslator and FGA.
so for now if you want to catch up story just play JP immediately and use fgotranslator but if you want to be a collector with clairvoyance A+ play NA. Both are easier to catch up now, than if you're a new player in 2019 or something.

Me: *Literally started playing FGO when the 6th Anniversary was going down*
I got into the Nasuverse via Tsukihime manga, and my journey the rabbit hole began that day. FGO was always on my mind -(with the help of the doujins)- , but I never got to try it earlier because of disk space with other gachas taking up space. Got a new phone with double disk space, downloaded FGO and I've been having a blast ever since! The animations look awesome, I got to enjoy my 1st Nero fest, and I'm enjoying a lot of the servants I've summoned. I feel like out of the 3 gachas I play, FGO is probably were I feel like I'm poor with the summoning currency with the *DRY* amount of Quartz we receive man...
I'm almost done with Part 1, it's just that Camelot is making me taste true *PAIN* for the 1st time playing this game. I'm gonna have war flashbacks as soon as this singularity is over...
Just follow some players with strong servants and you will only have trouble when you reach lb 5.2.

@@DouglasStewart99 in the future you will be able to use sup NPs without even following/adding . So can always just refresh until you find what you need.
@@DouglasStewart99 well, the commands are there to be used, the devs balance around you having them from time to time, using blue cubes is kinda cheap before lb6 since it wasn't planned to be there.

It's remind me i play Fgo like 1 year ago, before my reason play fgo, because i like Fate series, but after Play 2 weeks....its hell, gacha very salt, after Final singularity many enemy have 300k hp, but yeah after all FGO is very fun
But yeah even after 1 year...actually 247 days, i only have 12 SSR in NA

Yes and no for the servants and the story hell yes, but with so many events down the drain im half like why bother. But I will say with the exp quests now its a bit easier to grind if your just starting out. I still have like 40 servants I havent maxed cause grinding is hell.
Levelling up only stops being a bother after you farm a couple hundred boxes from a lotto. For better or worse, that is how the game is.
I dont know how you people do it I can barely get to 10 boxes before im burned out from grinding. Also I have literally no servants for 3t teams so im screwed.@@BornFromTheLight314

Me who's playing the game 2 year ago without any Meta Servants...,and now at LostBelt 6 my account feels like cursed😒😒😒😒. That's why I make a 2 account during the free GSSR anniversary to pick Waiver and guess that's where I more focus to play that account than my cursed OG account😅😅😅

@@maxmahusayjr7258 Oof, if you're still getting unlucky with the gacha, I suggest go for the single roll. I've managed to get the majority of my ssr this year for just doing that. It saves a bit of fund too cuz you don't overspend with 30 sqs rolls

In my opinion, as a player ever since the game started., the biggest negative point to this game for new players is 6 years of missing Servants.
By starting now you have missed Waver, Merlin, Skadi, Tamamo and Castoria, nevermind all the 5* hard hitting Servants you will need to finish harder missing later on.
Game's great for plot, waifus and Leonidas. 10/10 would gacha agaon.

IMO 2023 is the best and worst time to get into FGO. For NA this is the BEST year anyone can join but by how things are in the JP Server, things are only slowly going down from this year.
I just wish the game was voiced man.

There is no doubt the story, character design, voice acting is great, being carried by the long established Fate IP. But as far as gacha games go, its an antiquated system with horrendous account management (bind codes wtf), a buggy laggy unoptimised UI, a terrible gacha system with an astronomically high pity, devs who refuse to put out QOL updates at a reasonable frequency, and lets be honest the first few chapters are a boring slog to get through. I would say if you are looking for a new gacha game to try I would browse around a bit first before deciding to play this, as it could cause an immense amount of suffering. If you really really love Fate, then you might find it a good time. This is coming from someone who continues on both servers having started in 2019.
For those who somehow want to start playing fgo. Spare yourself the misery. Just buy a SQ account. They are pretty cheap. Or you can even find the SQ accounts with majority of ssr supports for a reasonable price.
Not dealing with gacha makes fgo way mkre fun and entertaining.

You miss your daily login rewards, and it resets to the beginning of those rewards.
To be honest FGO has only good plot, and is better watch a video on yt, gameplay hasn't changed since they added the bar system like 4-5 years ago, and basically what you do in this game is a material farming. FGO is too old for new players, just like World of Warcraft in MMO genre, today there is much more games with better gameplay and good story, by what FGO is looking realy bland, espacily when you can get spoiled story by JP version.And don't forget about FOMO. The worst part of the story is that is not even voiced.

FGO is just too big to fail, so they don't really need to compete with other gacha's in term of quality. FGO is objectively a worse game then most other gacha's but that really don't matter for them.

I would NEVER recommend a friend to start playing FGO, I would 100% recommend them to read the stories on youtube or something but never to start playing it.
If either Castoria or Koyan were wellfares or featured in that free ticket thing, I would recommend it, but other than that, I think it's kinda cruel to tell someone to start playing, let them cruise through part 1 with op supports just to realize they'll struggle hard af to clear the content, or start events and instead of 3T spending 7,8,9 maybe 10 turns to farm event quests.
I do have a roll for fun account with Koyan and Oberon, if a close friend really wanted to start playing I could give it, but that's about it.
Honestly I think they're past the point of making the game playable to a newer player without changing their policies drastically.

I honestly dont think this game is worth playing. I did more than 500 rerolls and i discovered some really bad "things" the devs do with the summon rates and everything.. Dont hate me, im being honest. And that chinese dude whos on every fgo news video, everytime i see him i see Mr.Burns, creepy as fuck.

JP too, since last year they started spamming rerun banners without even their own event (will start to happen in NA next year)

The surprise SSR on NA was really sus for me. NA server already makes only less than 8% of FGOs total revenue, so it's no surprise they are trying to make more money, especially now that Honkai Star Rail released and is a worthy competitor on the west (not on JP cause whales are way more insane there).
