I wouldn't recommend starting FGO as of right now simply because it lack of new events, outdated UI, very little to no animation or quality of life updates. Even the main story which is what keeps most people playing, is dragging it's self for so long that you might as well do something else worth your time when it comes out. I would just recommend any Fate Fans to just watch the cutscenes of FGO Main story/events since I personally think you get the joy of reading FGO without dealing with gacha, farming, or lack of new content. I personally recommend the TH-camr Linkmstr since you get more context of the cutscenes since they show the gameplay.
Honestly, that's pretty valid. Game is in a mid state rn, story and char design is def what's anchored me for so long. God bless the heroes who put the entire story on TH-cam.
Actually its usually 3 events followed by a main story...or was. Then we got Lostbelt 5.5 and this time we got Koyonskya. I think next time is gonna be 6.5 then 3 more events THEN lostbelt 7.
My take? As a player on NA as early as August of 2017, I'd say you should stay as far away from FGO as possible. FGO devs simply don't care anymore since they already know they have a captive audience and a multitude of whales. Pity system is close to nonexistent; you're going to spend $430 minimum to hit pity. From 2017 until now, I've spent close to $2,000 on this game alone and yet I feel more satisfied with what I spend on Azur Lane or Arknights. I'm happy to spend on Yostar games because I'm sure it'll come back and make the game better; FGO on the other hand, hasn't had an animation update for any of their older Servants in ages now. If I'm going to be frank about it, FGO shouldn't exist in today's market, given the many better alternatives. If it weren't for the IP of Fate, the game wouldn't have lived past 2020. And there's evidence for it - DW/Lasengle has not released any other mobile game after FGO. They tried doing so with the Sakura Taisen IP, but it shut down within six months of release and the only concession I'll grant it is that they got Hideo Baba involved (of Tales of Zestiria irrepute.) Just don't, is what I'd say. If you're dead set, then at least press the Skip button whenever possible since the writing is so good that it is a form of parasocial bond. Don't make the mistake of thinking a bunch of pixels on the screen are sapient. By the end of the day, Servants will just feed you the same repetitive lines when you interact with them, or at least the cardboard standee that are meant to be them since the game does not have L2D.
Every story is riddled with references to previous events that happened years ago, and they don't often explain the connection because they assume you know.
I started playing 2 weeks ago because my job is slow and I enjoy context to my doujins. At first the game felt somewhat f2p friendly as it showered me with 4☆+ servants and materials (newb bait). But after delving into the systems ive come to realise that treating this like an actual game is hopeless. Literal weeks of grinding just to have a chance at getting a chatacter you want is honestly evil, and actively justifies spending money cuz its faster to make irl cash than in-game SQ. I do enjoy the gameplay tho and getting free rolls feels like a treat, so ill push through the story and see what happens. I hate myself

Same, I got lucky with Sith and Barghest, and I also Lancelot and Percival which I have little to no interest in. My gripe with the game is certain contents are story locked so I really need to do catchup.
Just a tip from someone who have played this game as a f2p from the start, don't get obsessed with geting high rarity characters, you probably won't have the materials and qp to upgrade them and they will fare worse than your low rarity ones. Focus in geting one good support and upgrading core f2p characters, the dps 5 star you can get from the friends list. Seriously the bs about the game is not f2p friendly come mostly from people who can't control themselves and roll almost every single banner. After so much time as f2p eventualy you will get your 5 stars, i have more than 30 of them and don't use most lol. Get to know the banners that are comming we have this advantage as na player and hold your quartz to use in the right banners like summer this year. Ps: if you are griding meterials in the game you are doing it wrong, wait for an event and get the mats on the shop, griding free quests is a waste of time.

@@kimitohanahala8674 they are almost in the same order, the problem is the anniversary that jp one and the na one are in different times of the year so that cause some confusion, but usually the events and banners come almost at the same time they happened in the jp server, not in the same day but in the same time frame. So while the event may not happen exactly january 9, it will probably happen around the middle to the end of january.
As a London starter, ghr gsme has reslly come a long way, we used to not be able to loop or consecutively play stages, the animations of year 1 servants compared now to year 8 are worlds apart in quality, the battle system and ui improvements hsve been amazing but still lacking in certain aspects like skipping np animations or skipping anitions completely in favor of pure numbers game, addition of 90+ dailies brought the qp economy from a drought, the gacha system itself could use a massive revamp, same how much sq you can earn per week being vastly limited. Servants either come out busted on launch like Berserktoria or lower rarity servants manage to outdo higher tier servants, making said higher tiers obselete, eg Asclepius and Medea Lily. If you want to start this gsme go ahead, but id suggest to keep an eye out for when a new starter campaign is rolling out or around new year's/Anniversary otherwise youll jusy be missing out on free shit. Game is improving but dragging along now in its final arc, especially because we have been collectively cockblocked by the whole post lostbelt gameplay snd how we probably hsve to wait ay least a year or 2 still for s conclusion to this game.
Yeah the games definitely in a better state than it was and the improvements are nice. The economy and gacha system, while not perfect, are so much fucking better. I'm honestly pretty happy with the state of the game rn, although their is a bit of a content drought. Hopefully the future is bright. Much love brotherman bill.
Good video, I think my only critique is that it IS pretty dang f2p friendly if you just invest the time(like just about every gacha). People beat the hardest content in the game with only bronze units all the time, there are really amazing welfares, and over time you are bound to get really good ssrs even if you are f2p.
I think it's people who are new to gacha, and henceforth believe that an ssr should be a given out after an hour of grinding. I find this to be particularly funny because of the fact that most other gacha games literally have worse systems(aside from pity) particularly genshin
@literalgarbage8014 yeah you're definitely right. I play a handful of gachas, and it's almost guaranteed you'll have an ssr unit within the first hour of playing to get you started/hooked. It's still fairly f2p friendly, but you can't expect to go in and just yoink every other ssr or plan ahead to guarantee pity like genshin
fair play, game can definitely be beaten with welfare units like any other gacha; but I feel like E tier luck in rolling can turn ppl off cause they want a particular character or 4-5 stars so that's why I brought it up. The pity system is also not the best, so that doesn't help when high rolling and getting demoralized. Nothing wrong with most of the "weaker" units since chars like Arash are so damn effective at what they do. Very poorly worded and explained on my part, my fault.
I played this game for about 4 years. After the disaster that was the past 12 months, I have finally dropped it, feels like a huge weight lifted off my shoulders. It has not kept up with the times and innovation of other gacha game competitors, and while the story has some pretty insane high points, the current arc has dragged too long now and story content is coming out way too slow. It's a shame, I will never forget this game's story, but IMO it's really not worth starting now compared to its recent competition.

Well i started like half a year ago and i literally cannot put it down. This is technically my first gacha game if you don't count Pokemon Masters ig. I don't really plan to start other gacha games since I'm so invested in Fate as a whole now. Lostbelt 6 was fucking peak and I can't wait to see what the future stories have in store. I also did the New Years GSSR for Castoria and got her so I guess I'm in it for the long haul.

For me the story itself is worth it and im f2p and ive gotten really great units i think its not too bad if you save and are not extremely willy nilly for servants and i havent had to grind too much for quartz besides one time for muramasa

Started back in October. Well I’ve kinda been sucked In to be honest. I’m a huge buildcrafter/optimization perfectionist which tbh this game really does fit the niche I like. I enjoy the story, and the gameplay is honestly not as bad as I expected despite technically being the same thing over and over again it actually has its own refreshing moments as each battle can differ depending on what/who/how you fight. It definitely isn’t the most F2P friendly game in the world, but I’m not the most conservative money spender either… gonna use this as a moment to flex my NP3 Koyanskaya of dark NP2 Melusine and NP2 Skadi (didn’t even intend to roll them). Weird flexes aside though. The story and the NP animations is what’s also kept me hooked big time. I’m one of the few who’s actually enjoyed ALL of the content (only up to LB4 right now). I dread the moment that I hit the point in the game where I’m waiting months at a time for new content, but fuck it we ball. Good game would recommend.

I enjoy grailling my favourite servants but it makes me question my sanity for liking this game as much as I do sometimes, it has some of my favourite characters in general, an enjoyable story, right now I'm just f2p and the end game of FGO for grinding feels like waifu cookie clicker tbh. So if you're masochistic who enjoys the hell of gacha with a good story or someone who enjoyed cookie clicker, I would probably recommend it.
I've been playing this game for 6 years and I'll never recommend this game to anyone but despite that I've played all other gacha games out there and I've deleted every single one except this one fgo has this feel that despite being old and outdated its not a demanding game the other that came close is arknights and i deleted last year.
Can't recommend it as someone who started launch year in NA. Current story arc lostbelts has gone on too long, they've come to a crawl with new story. Like chapter a year now when they used to do like 3 chapters a year. They should have ended the arc shortly after the South America lostbelt like they did with babylonia. Granted I have no idea what this Ordeal Call nonsense is about since I don't play JP. But the fact they've killed off all the villain's they had besides the one left like 2 years ago. And to think they pumped out Epic Of Remnant and the Kiara story which counted as part of the main story in one year so 5 chapters that year. Events have slowed down as well, lack of generally new gameplay and lack of like animations and general updates. FGO makes soooo much money either way. But they sure deliver worse than some gacha's that get like sub 10k views on trailers and a fraction of the playerbase. I came back for NA anniversary today and as a like level 155 player I had a ton of like 120-160 players on my friends list. Literally years of playing faithfully some of them. About 25% of them have quit this year. The devs have been treating the game like it's about to go into maintenance mode without any more updates since covid started up originally. As a year one player I don't recommend it. While I know the game is successful the game definitely feels like it's in it's twilight years and on it's way out with how the devs treat it. Also if what I heard is true the company that manages the game hires fresh devs with no experience for cheaper labor and gets rid of them later to keep costs cheap so a revolving talent door explains why content is skimpy if it's true.
Ive played the game since 2019 i enjoy all the events, characters and the lostbelts are all amazing the Gacha is harsh though pity being 425$ is very High while HSR PITY is alot lower but you also have to factor in for HSR when you do hit pit its a 50/50 first time them you need to hit pity again for the garantee so it works out to around the same. But I play because i love the Type moon IP Ido wish they our alour more animation updates and updates to the game but over all im not hating any of it, the devs definitely suck though they are riding it out but its also nice to see fate and Hoolpw ataraxia get remakes on the ps4 and switch along with Tsukihime this is my favorite anime and multi verse also I rather nowlt see any of it end anytime soon. Just wish they focused on other type moon titles too.
Just started playing this week after binging all anime. I have knowledge about gacha games specifically so I don't mind grinds i mind good story and waifu which i know a lot in here . But is the game still gonna last? Im afraid to invest my time maybe money in the future then the game just get away.
I wish there was a story replay battle, I have shiny roster of servants which is mostly relegated to farming, I want to fight Goetia again with my Morgan or Demeter with my Percival, basically having fun which the game don't give me the option to do so, and I hated when the game event gated (I'm looking at you Saber war 2 and the recent Guda Guda event) because I haven't finish specific part of the game and after finsihing the main quest there is literally nothing to do, man I hate this game but I'm still addicted to it
been playing fgo na fully f2p since 2018. still remember when there wasnt a free ssr after beating fuyuki and no one time special ascention. now ive got a 2nd acc on jp for about 2 years and just made a 3rd acc on na cause why the fuck not. the game is great as a time waster but unless people have 6+ hours per day of free time to dedicate on grinding free quests and the story they should stay far away. not to mention that the game wont be around for that much longer considering part 2 of the story is almost finished and there are no plans as to how to continue after.
Honestly, same. I play it every now and then but I don't dedicate much as much time to it as I used to it. As for the future of the game, I'm honestly not sure what their plans are, but imo I can't imagine they'd give up this cashcow that easily unless they have a sequel of some sort planned.
Great video and as someone who loves Type Moon I'd say yes but for right now i think it's best to just wait for a bit FGO is in a weird state right the story is amazing but it does feel like its taking a while for us to get chapters with delays sometimes occurring, not to mention the seemingly lack of animation updates and re-run events coincidentally all this occurred when Lasengle took over, the game is more forgiving in farming thanks to Pure Prisms and is still F2P friendly (heck theres videos of people beating LB boses with year 1 and 2 characters) but at the same time it's still a pain to farm certain items, i would recommend it to people who like Fate and Type Moon however for a more casual audience I'd say wait for a bit because FGO does have its problems RN (though from the look of it some of these problems are slowly being fixed)

I really liked the game cuz good lucky rolls and im a coomer, but after lost my device ergo my account and support wasnt that good as you say i lost all my progress , a lot of welfare servants and my chalices. I quit the game cuz play again through stages is annoying as fuck!! And im not in mood to playing all that manual. After tryng other gacha games fgo feels rusty and old, fans deserve a lot of QoL and GP improvements
Honestly I think the pity is fine u just have to research beforehand what servants unwant from the year narrow it down to the ones u realy realy want and then just save for a few months. It ads up real quick. My FTP account stands proud with np 5 Melusine and that was me saving for half a year for her. As for new players they get a bunch SQ off start dash campaigns so they allready have a good start. But yes I will admit compared to other gachas fgo has one of the worse pity systems… Thats why I recommendplanning and patiance and I hope u guys have good rolls!

No its not. I left fgo after casturia's release last year. I only came back to roll for muramasa and koyan of light and dark. I got all three. When i decided to retire the first time. I had alread begun playing twisted wonderland. And i gotta say. This is not any better than how the twisted wonderland en game has been treating its fambase. No time at all to save gems shortened events . The pity system is slightly better at 100 you get a 60% chance of getting rate up. At 200 its guaranteed. Piling events and new story banners ontop of each other forcing you to choose. oh and its 10 "ap" total.. which refills 1 every 15 minutes. So its full every 2 1/2 hours. But unlike fgo twst DOESN'T require ap to progress in story content. Because thats not how we spend those in twst.

The problem i have with the game,l is, that some story fights looks simply be to hard or to complicated. I had some times rage moments, because it was impossible for me, to finish the bosses, because i dont had servants or a team, who are right to them. At last when i looked by yt for some fights did it looked, like, that you needed for some fights some specific, rare servants, to be able to beat them. Most, on combination with some low tier servants, who you simply are ignoring, because they are only bronze servants and you has limited ressources. Like, the hardest fight, Demetere, where you more or less practicly needed holmes. Because, he led you ignoring her many defense skills. Ok, you can allways use revives. And it looks like, that some fights are inteded with that in mind (like, again Goethia). And you can use revive one time with 3 command spells or with other ressources. But, it feels sometimes not right, to only be able to win the fight with that. Esspecial, like again Demetere, where i needed nearle (or completly) 2 revives to finish the fight. It feels than like, that you lost ven with that. And what i miss a little, would be a "new game+" opption. The option, to re-run the story with the fights again. Simply, for fun. Or, to see, if you are later able, to finish the fights better, as with the first run (you can only rewatch the chapter in the master room). And, what i dislike the most by the game is practicly the existence of the AP points. I dont understand, why all mobile games/gacha games has this ressources, that limited your ability to play the game. Instant of let play as long as i want (esspecial usefull on free days or, when you farm things), are you limited with the actions, based on the points. And higher quest need more of them. SO, that you are used up all AP in maybe 10-15 minutes. And has than to wait some hours, before you can start again. About the servants is on bad aspect the point, that the game dont give you all the data to a servant. For deciding, how good it is (you need external sites or apps, to see all data). All it gives is the ATK and Hp and than the statistic in the profile, with E to S rank. But, its uncleare, if that part even has meaning in the game. You only see, if some servants are better as others, when you use them activly. Like, Fion and Percival. Where Percival looks to be the better version of this 2. Both looks to have the same role (beeing a tank with a taunt skill). But, Percivals skill is for multiple rounds, while Fions is only for one round. While Percival has invicibility for one round, has Fion evade for one round, with only 100% succes rate by skill lvl 10. Percival could be going down easliy with his taunt skill. But, his protection skill can even heal the target a little. And his special attack can heal even to. While Fion has a power up skill for 1 round, has Percival a better power up skill for 3 rounds. You could think, that Fions NP would makes in exchange more damage, as Percival. On the first glance, is that the case. What the game dont tell you is, how much the np power up skills is. With the extra boost, is Percival as strong or even stronger, as Fion. In addition, is Percival attacking more times with his normal cards and can regenerate his np faster. How much NP a servant can regenerate, is the game not telling you. You only see it, while you use them activly. But in the bigger part of the game, make the game fun and is ok (ok, maybe you need to be into the fate franchise, to enjoy it completly).
Holmes is not necessary for Demeter. Once you figure out that Demeter cycles her skills the fight becomes a lot easier. You don't even need a 5* to beat the boss. The game in general is quite easy once you learn the mechanics well. I really would love a new game+ as well. Replaying some fights on hard mode would be really fun.
its so odd because i havent played fgo in like 3 years and i started in 2017 so it all feels so different. I want to get back into it but I feel like I've missed so much. I love all my servants dearly though.
i play fgo when the 1st CCC or fate extra collab (idk how long ago ) f2p. 1.there is no auto farm system INSIDE fgo, but... android phones can search up fga which is the closest thing to an autofarm. 2. ways 2 obtain sqs: log in, weekly mission, rewards for completing free quest, anniversary, and events. 3. is it worth it? imo maybe? the overall farming is pain but they do introduce was to get materials aside from event, story is good, and the newer players do get free 5 star (which is good if you choose the right 5 star. waifu over meta as always)
As a veteran FGO player, my only advice for you is "don't". This game is 9 years old and looks exactly 5 years ago, the gameplay is not really interesting, and gacha is "hell". The only thing worth playing is the story, but it requires some extensive knowledge from other Fate. Touching grass is still a better option
The story is good and all, but it feels kinda sad to miss out all the 'meta' command code and ce that's available from the previous events. Sure, you can get some from the shop now, but it's not the same. For me, FGO is a game that you would enjoy to progress little by little, instead of rushing everything- but the fact that most of the events are now locked behind LB, I imagine it would be kinda difficult for new players to obtain mats and lores. To join most of the events mean you have to rush leveling up your servants, which could feel more like chores at times. I played FGO NA when there're just waver and merlin as support, and managed to survive without them prior to getting waver via the SSR tix. But nowadays, I feel like you're obligated to have castoria/koyan/oberon if you dont want to struggle through CQ/farming. Old players would probably own at least one of them, and in NA you could save sq to even own all of them via clairvoyance EX- but it's not the same for new players.

Almost every thing in this game feels outdated I really don’t like where the game direction is going but me and probably like a lot of other old players are still here still stays cause sunk cost fallacy and i still found some enjoyment in the characters and story, so i wanna see where it ends
7 years with no pity is crazy but id like to raise you DBZ dokkan battle whose pity system is to wait multiple months after the initial release for the character to come back on a different banner so you can buy them out of the pity shop where each character costs 50 10pulls worth of pity coins and the closest we go to actual on banner pity only guarantees A featured unit not neccessarily the one you want took them 9 years to implement and has only been used on 1 half of a celebration so far
I was in agreement with you until you said it is not free-to-play friendly. In my third account (Yes, I am an addict), I beat every singularity up until I lost belt 5.5 with Friend point summons only. It is very F2P friendly if you take the time to learn the characters.
Lack of proper events rerun is the bane of Fate Go, so is the fact that you need some level of investments in the themes and topics that Fate francize. I don't regret starting or continuing to play it, but oh god do i feel bad about how crap it is at times.
Dated game with one if the harshest gachas. Ubless i see something on the horizon soon am dropping. Some descent art and a good base ip but ive dropped almost all ip cash ins recently.

By the end of the day, Servants will just feed you the same repetitive lines when you interact with them, or at least the cardboard standee that are meant to be them since the game does not have L2D.

I started playing 2 weeks ago because my job is slow and I enjoy context to my doujins.
At first the game felt somewhat f2p friendly as it showered me with 4☆+ servants and materials (newb bait). But after delving into the systems ive come to realise that treating this like an actual game is hopeless. Literal weeks of grinding just to have a chance at getting a chatacter you want is honestly evil, and actively justifies spending money cuz its faster to make irl cash than in-game SQ.
I do enjoy the gameplay tho and getting free rolls feels like a treat, so ill push through the story and see what happens. I hate myself

Same, I got lucky with Sith and Barghest, and I also Lancelot and Percival which I have little to no interest in. My gripe with the game is certain contents are story locked so I really need to do catchup.
Just a tip from someone who have played this game as a f2p from the start, don't get obsessed with geting high rarity characters, you probably won't have the materials and qp to upgrade them and they will fare worse than your low rarity ones.
Focus in geting one good support and upgrading core f2p characters, the dps 5 star you can get from the friends list.
Seriously the bs about the game is not f2p friendly come mostly from people who can't control themselves and roll almost every single banner.
After so much time as f2p eventualy you will get your 5 stars, i have more than 30 of them and don't use most lol.
Get to know the banners that are comming we have this advantage as na player and hold your quartz to use in the right banners like summer this year.
Ps: if you are griding meterials in the game you are doing it wrong, wait for an event and get the mats on the shop, griding free quests is a waste of time.

@@kimitohanahala8674 they are almost in the same order, the problem is the anniversary that jp one and the na one are in different times of the year so that cause some confusion, but usually the events and banners come almost at the same time they happened in the jp server, not in the same day but in the same time frame.
So while the event may not happen exactly january 9, it will probably happen around the middle to the end of january.
As a London starter, ghr gsme has reslly come a long way, we used to not be able to loop or consecutively play stages, the animations of year 1 servants compared now to year 8 are worlds apart in quality, the battle system and ui improvements hsve been amazing but still lacking in certain aspects like skipping np animations or skipping anitions completely in favor of pure numbers game, addition of 90+ dailies brought the qp economy from a drought, the gacha system itself could use a massive revamp, same how much sq you can earn per week being vastly limited. Servants either come out busted on launch like Berserktoria or lower rarity servants manage to outdo higher tier servants, making said higher tiers obselete, eg Asclepius and Medea Lily.
If you want to start this gsme go ahead, but id suggest to keep an eye out for when a new starter campaign is rolling out or around new year's/Anniversary otherwise youll jusy be missing out on free shit. Game is improving but dragging along now in its final arc, especially because we have been collectively cockblocked by the whole post lostbelt gameplay snd how we probably hsve to wait ay least a year or 2 still for s conclusion to this game.
Yeah the games definitely in a better state than it was and the improvements are nice. The economy and gacha system, while not perfect, are so much fucking better. I'm honestly pretty happy with the state of the game rn, although their is a bit of a content drought. Hopefully the future is bright. Much love brotherman bill.

Good video, I think my only critique is that it IS pretty dang f2p friendly if you just invest the time(like just about every gacha). People beat the hardest content in the game with only bronze units all the time, there are really amazing welfares, and over time you are bound to get really good ssrs even if you are f2p.
I think it's people who are new to gacha, and henceforth believe that an ssr should be a given out after an hour of grinding. I find this to be particularly funny because of the fact that most other gacha games literally have worse systems(aside from pity) particularly genshin
@literalgarbage8014 yeah you're definitely right. I play a handful of gachas, and it's almost guaranteed you'll have an ssr unit within the first hour of playing to get you started/hooked. It's still fairly f2p friendly, but you can't expect to go in and just yoink every other ssr or plan ahead to guarantee pity like genshin
fair play, game can definitely be beaten with welfare units like any other gacha; but I feel like E tier luck in rolling can turn ppl off cause they want a particular character or 4-5 stars so that's why I brought it up. The pity system is also not the best, so that doesn't help when high rolling and getting demoralized. Nothing wrong with most of the "weaker" units since chars like Arash are so damn effective at what they do. Very poorly worded and explained on my part, my fault.
I played this game for about 4 years. After the disaster that was the past 12 months, I have finally dropped it, feels like a huge weight lifted off my shoulders. It has not kept up with the times and innovation of other gacha game competitors, and while the story has some pretty insane high points, the current arc has dragged too long now and story content is coming out way too slow. It's a shame, I will never forget this game's story, but IMO it's really not worth starting now compared to its recent competition.

Well i started like half a year ago and i literally cannot put it down. This is technically my first gacha game if you don't count Pokemon Masters ig. I don't really plan to start other gacha games since I'm so invested in Fate as a whole now. Lostbelt 6 was fucking peak and I can't wait to see what the future stories have in store. I also did the New Years GSSR for Castoria and got her so I guess I'm in it for the long haul.

For me the story itself is worth it and im f2p and ive gotten really great units i think its not too bad if you save and are not extremely willy nilly for servants and i havent had to grind too much for quartz besides one time for muramasa

Been a fan of Type-moon for many years but had zero interest in the game until just two years back and think i enjoy it just as much as had i been around from day one.
Started back in October. Well I’ve kinda been sucked In to be honest. I’m a huge buildcrafter/optimization perfectionist which tbh this game really does fit the niche I like. I enjoy the story, and the gameplay is honestly not as bad as I expected despite technically being the same thing over and over again it actually has its own refreshing moments as each battle can differ depending on what/who/how you fight. It definitely isn’t the most F2P friendly game in the world, but I’m not the most conservative money spender either… gonna use this as a moment to flex my NP3 Koyanskaya of dark NP2 Melusine and NP2 Skadi (didn’t even intend to roll them). Weird flexes aside though. The story and the NP animations is what’s also kept me hooked big time. I’m one of the few who’s actually enjoyed ALL of the content (only up to LB4 right now). I dread the moment that I hit the point in the game where I’m waiting months at a time for new content, but fuck it we ball. Good game would recommend.

I enjoy grailling my favourite servants but it makes me question my sanity for liking this game as much as I do sometimes, it has some of my favourite characters in general, an enjoyable story, right now I'm just f2p and the end game of FGO for grinding feels like waifu cookie clicker tbh. So if you're masochistic who enjoys the hell of gacha with a good story or someone who enjoyed cookie clicker, I would probably recommend it.

I've been playing this game for 6 years and I'll never recommend this game to anyone but despite that I've played all other gacha games out there and I've deleted every single one except this one fgo has this feel that despite being old and outdated its not a demanding game the other that came close is arknights and i deleted last year.
Can't recommend it as someone who started launch year in NA. Current story arc lostbelts has gone on too long, they've come to a crawl with new story. Like chapter a year now when they used to do like 3 chapters a year. They should have ended the arc shortly after the South America lostbelt like they did with babylonia. Granted I have no idea what this Ordeal Call nonsense is about since I don't play JP. But the fact they've killed off all the villain's they had besides the one left like 2 years ago. And to think they pumped out Epic Of Remnant and the Kiara story which counted as part of the main story in one year so 5 chapters that year.
Events have slowed down as well, lack of generally new gameplay and lack of like animations and general updates. FGO makes soooo much money either way. But they sure deliver worse than some gacha's that get like sub 10k views on trailers and a fraction of the playerbase.
I came back for NA anniversary today and as a like level 155 player I had a ton of like 120-160 players on my friends list. Literally years of playing faithfully some of them. About 25% of them have quit this year. The devs have been treating the game like it's about to go into maintenance mode without any more updates since covid started up originally.
As a year one player I don't recommend it. While I know the game is successful the game definitely feels like it's in it's twilight years and on it's way out with how the devs treat it.
Also if what I heard is true the company that manages the game hires fresh devs with no experience for cheaper labor and gets rid of them later to keep costs cheap so a revolving talent door explains why content is skimpy if it's true.
Ive played the game since 2019 i enjoy all the events, characters and the lostbelts are all amazing the Gacha is harsh though pity being 425$ is very High while HSR PITY is alot lower but you also have to factor in for HSR when you do hit pit its a 50/50 first time them you need to hit pity again for the garantee so it works out to around the same. But I play because i love the Type moon IP Ido wish they our alour more animation updates and updates to the game but over all im not hating any of it, the devs definitely suck though they are riding it out but its also nice to see fate and Hoolpw ataraxia get remakes on the ps4 and switch along with Tsukihime this is my favorite anime and multi verse also I rather nowlt see any of it end anytime soon. Just wish they focused on other type moon titles too.
Just started playing this week after binging all anime. I have knowledge about gacha games specifically so I don't mind grinds i mind good story and waifu which i know a lot in here . But is the game still gonna last? Im afraid to invest my time maybe money in the future then the game just get away.
I wish there was a story replay battle, I have shiny roster of servants which is mostly relegated to farming, I want to fight Goetia again with my Morgan or Demeter with my Percival, basically having fun which the game don't give me the option to do so, and I hated when the game event gated (I'm looking at you Saber war 2 and the recent Guda Guda event) because I haven't finish specific part of the game and after finsihing the main quest there is literally nothing to do, man I hate this game but I'm still addicted to it

the game is great as a time waster but unless people have 6+ hours per day of free time to dedicate on grinding free quests and the story they should stay far away.
not to mention that the game wont be around for that much longer considering part 2 of the story is almost finished and there are no plans as to how to continue after.
Honestly, same. I play it every now and then but I don't dedicate much as much time to it as I used to it. As for the future of the game, I'm honestly not sure what their plans are, but imo I can't imagine they'd give up this cashcow that easily unless they have a sequel of some sort planned.
Great video and as someone who loves Type Moon I'd say yes but for right now i think it's best to just wait for a bit FGO is in a weird state right the story is amazing but it does feel like its taking a while for us to get chapters with delays sometimes occurring, not to mention the seemingly lack of animation updates and re-run events coincidentally all this occurred when Lasengle took over, the game is more forgiving in farming thanks to Pure Prisms and is still F2P friendly (heck theres videos of people beating LB boses with year 1 and 2 characters) but at the same time it's still a pain to farm certain items, i would recommend it to people who like Fate and Type Moon however for a more casual audience I'd say wait for a bit because FGO does have its problems RN (though from the look of it some of these problems are slowly being fixed)

It ads up real quick. My FTP account stands proud with np 5 Melusine and that was me saving for half a year for her. As for new players they get a bunch SQ off start dash campaigns so they allready have a good start. But yes I will admit compared to other gachas fgo has one of the worse pity systems… Thats why I recommendplanning and patiance and I hope u guys have good rolls!

No its not. I left fgo after casturia's release last year. I only came back to roll for muramasa and koyan of light and dark. I got all three. When i decided to retire the first time. I had alread begun playing twisted wonderland. And i gotta say. This is not any better than how the twisted wonderland en game has been treating its fambase. No time at all to save gems shortened events . The pity system is slightly better at 100 you get a 60% chance of getting rate up. At 200 its guaranteed. Piling events and new story banners ontop of each other forcing you to choose. oh and its 10 "ap" total.. which refills 1 every 15 minutes. So its full every 2 1/2 hours. But unlike fgo twst DOESN'T require ap to progress in story content. Because thats not how we spend those in twst.
I know nothing about twisted wonderland so I'll take your word for it. But yeah, FGO definitely should treat its players better (they won't). Sad to hear it's so commonplace among the gacha world, although I'm not surprised.
The problem i have with the game,l is, that some story fights looks simply be to hard or to complicated. I had some times rage moments, because it was impossible for me, to finish the bosses, because i dont had servants or a team, who are right to them.
At last when i looked by yt for some fights did it looked, like, that you needed for some fights some specific, rare servants, to be able to beat them. Most, on combination with some low tier servants, who you simply are ignoring, because they are only bronze servants and you has limited ressources.
Like, the hardest fight, Demetere, where you more or less practicly needed holmes. Because, he led you ignoring her many defense skills.
Ok, you can allways use revives. And it looks like, that some fights are inteded with that in mind (like, again Goethia). And you can use revive one time with 3 command spells or with other ressources. But, it feels sometimes not right, to only be able to win the fight with that. Esspecial, like again Demetere, where i needed nearle (or completly) 2 revives to finish the fight. It feels than like, that you lost ven with that.
And what i miss a little, would be a "new game+" opption.
The option, to re-run the story with the fights again. Simply, for fun. Or, to see, if you are later able, to finish the fights better, as with the first run (you can only rewatch the chapter in the master room).
And, what i dislike the most by the game is practicly the existence of the AP points.
I dont understand, why all mobile games/gacha games has this ressources, that limited your ability to play the game. Instant of let play as long as i want (esspecial usefull on free days or, when you farm things), are you limited with the actions, based on the points. And higher quest need more of them. SO, that you are used up all AP in maybe 10-15 minutes. And has than to wait some hours, before you can start again.
About the servants is on bad aspect the point, that the game dont give you all the data to a servant. For deciding, how good it is (you need external sites or apps, to see all data). All it gives is the ATK and Hp and than the statistic in the profile, with E to S rank. But, its uncleare, if that part even has meaning in the game. You only see, if some servants are better as others, when you use them activly. Like, Fion and Percival. Where Percival looks to be the better version of this 2.
Both looks to have the same role (beeing a tank with a taunt skill). But, Percivals skill is for multiple rounds, while Fions is only for one round. While Percival has invicibility for one round, has Fion evade for one round, with only 100% succes rate by skill lvl 10. Percival could be going down easliy with his taunt skill. But, his protection skill can even heal the target a little. And his special attack can heal even to. While Fion has a power up skill for 1 round, has Percival a better power up skill for 3 rounds.
You could think, that Fions NP would makes in exchange more damage, as Percival. On the first glance, is that the case. What the game dont tell you is, how much the np power up skills is. With the extra boost, is Percival as strong or even stronger, as Fion. In addition, is Percival attacking more times with his normal cards and can regenerate his np faster. How much NP a servant can regenerate, is the game not telling you. You only see it, while you use them activly.
But in the bigger part of the game, make the game fun and is ok (ok, maybe you need to be into the fate franchise, to enjoy it completly).
Holmes is not necessary for Demeter. Once you figure out that Demeter cycles her skills the fight becomes a lot easier. You don't even need a 5* to beat the boss. The game in general is quite easy once you learn the mechanics well.
I really would love a new game+ as well. Replaying some fights on hard mode would be really fun.

1.there is no auto farm system INSIDE fgo, but... android phones can search up fga which is the closest thing to an autofarm.
2. ways 2 obtain sqs: log in, weekly mission, rewards for completing free quest, anniversary, and events.
3. is it worth it? imo maybe? the overall farming is pain but they do introduce was to get materials aside from event, story is good, and the newer players do get free 5 star (which is good if you choose the right 5 star. waifu over meta as always)

As a veteran FGO player, my only advice for you is "don't". This game is 9 years old and looks exactly 5 years ago, the gameplay is not really interesting, and gacha is "hell". The only thing worth playing is the story, but it requires some extensive knowledge from other Fate. Touching grass is still a better option

The story is good and all, but it feels kinda sad to miss out all the 'meta' command code and ce that's available from the previous events. Sure, you can get some from the shop now, but it's not the same. For me, FGO is a game that you would enjoy to progress little by little, instead of rushing everything- but the fact that most of the events are now locked behind LB, I imagine it would be kinda difficult for new players to obtain mats and lores. To join most of the events mean you have to rush leveling up your servants, which could feel more like chores at times.
I played FGO NA when there're just waver and merlin as support, and managed to survive without them prior to getting waver via the SSR tix. But nowadays, I feel like you're obligated to have castoria/koyan/oberon if you dont want to struggle through CQ/farming. Old players would probably own at least one of them, and in NA you could save sq to even own all of them via clairvoyance EX- but it's not the same for new players.
I don’t think its worth it for new players. Unfortunately the devs have putting in minimal effort into this game for the past year, the only thing keeping this game alive is the IP. Almost every thing in this game feels outdated

7 years with no pity is crazy but id like to raise you DBZ dokkan battle whose pity system is to wait multiple months after the initial release for the character to come back on a different banner so you can buy them out of the pity shop where each character costs 50 10pulls worth of pity coins and the closest we go to actual on banner pity only guarantees A featured unit not neccessarily the one you want took them 9 years to implement and has only been used on 1 half of a celebration so far
I was in agreement with you until you said it is not free-to-play friendly. In my third account (Yes, I am an addict), I beat every singularity up until I lost belt 5.5 with Friend point summons only. It is very F2P friendly if you take the time to learn the characters.
