Never been a big rpg fan but you do get your money worth. After Scarlet Nexus, im stuck on jrpg's now. Waiting for Expedition 33 now. I'll grab them when the price goes down
@@jitensha5231 As someone who plays persona games on merciless, I much prefer the turn-based over action combat, I'm not a fan of games that try to mix because it generally doesn't work out, it should be one or the other.
question: is this game turn-based or action RPG? Because I've seen two different gameplays and they have both systems. Or you're able to choose or something like that? IDK
The mainly battles are Turn-Based. You can "hack and slash" the entire weakear enemies and deal a little damage to powerful enemies; after this little damage, you can proceed the battle with the Turn-Based way for a more strategical fight.
if you're still wondering, no. I've completed the game and I'd go as far as to say that the combat is mostly turn-based. Overworld combat is more or less only there so you can either A.) grind more efficiently or B.) cruise through side quests, previously beaten dungeons, etc etc without having to stop and do turn-based for every single battle. It saves time but is nothing like Xenoblade/modern FF combat
PC >>> PS4 ver. on PS5 > XSS > XSX = PS5 Digital Foundry also just released a video comparing performance between consoles, definitely worth watching if interested! It looks like console versions lack Anti-Aliasing for now, we will see if it improves on the final build. (in comparison with the demo) The demo initially released on PC had some performance stability issues but they have been completely addressed after two patches, more are still coming to improve QoL and performance further, these changes should hit consoles too, eventually.
Might be a backlog candidate for me. I'm more of a true action JRPG fan, although this game has a mixed combat style, so it might be the first game I play after Visions of Mana. Thanks for sharing the combat. Definitely looks more fun than the persona games. The whole RPG aspects are annoying though dealing with all the social factors for me.
@@BtolHiko tbh I haven't played the game so I don't know if the story is good or not but gameplay wise I wish it was full turn base like Persona games, the real-time combat makes me reconsider playing this game
@@BtolHiko the UI might be overwhelming for new player but I'm pretty sure you'll get used to it, that's what happened to me the first time playing Persona games, especially Persona 5

Looks absolutely fantastic, already pre-ordered the Collectors Edition! So excited to play, this is my GOTY contender!
1:21 quite possibly the most animated attack I’ve seen in a persona style game, there definitely cooking
This combat looks peak. All they need is to let you use spells outside of combat

Is this a 3rd person slasher? I was told this is turn based, which I love.
Looks good, however, am just skeptical of having both action and turn based like this.
Having played Trails through Daybreak (which has a similar system), it's actually pretty fun.

The ten Trails games prior to Daybreak (from Sky FC to Reverie) were strictly turn-based.
Agreed. I think they should keep either action or turnbased only.
There's a playable demo, just go find out yourself
So excited for Metaphor ReFantazio and Shin Megami Tensei V Vengeance.
SMT V has turned out to be such a dissapointment, while Metaphor was black horse of 2024.

@@NightmareVortex excellent thank you
Wait what, first it was real time combat then it was turn based, mf which one is it😭😭
You can hack and slash the weaker enemies and switch combat mode when fighting something that requires a more strategic approach.
Oh so you can play it turn-based, from what I heard was it was just an arpg, it was about to be a deal-breaker for me.

Reminds me of persona
Same company
so it reused p3r
i cant stand the battle system it hurts my eyes its constant flash flash enemy turn my turn etc over and over. needs to be more simple
The appeal isn’t the gameplay it’s the story, right? Cuz ts looks ass
Wdym?
@ Everyone was praising this game so I checked out the gameplay and yeah it doesn’t look that good so I’m wondering is the story that makes it good?
@ Also the UI looks too convoluted to me.
