seize the grey was under rated going into the preakness even D Wayne Lukas had him under rated and he was the trainer he went in to try to help just steel set up a good pace in that race and blew the socks off every other horse in that field people said Muth would have been the fav to won the race but honestly that performance from seize the grey i think even muth would have had his work cut out for him seize the grey basically went from wire to wire in that race he got the lead from the break pretty quick and held it

As a former exercise rider i can tell you that when you hold them back from running forwards as fast as they went to go, they start to go sideways instead. They will also go straight up when you slow them down coming back the wrong way of the track. That is even less desirable. Working for Mesh Tenney we taught all ours to put their heads down on command which was a great tool in the starting gate and any time they would get too antsy and want to go up in the air rather than walk back sensibly

@@Luvtallhorses , I used to green break the Appaloosa’s we raised, I know a little bit about their getting antsy. Had an aerosol can blow up real close while I was bareback with just a hackmore on her…went had a rodeo right then!🤣

Why do the horses sometimes run kinda sideways?
Great question, some of the horses are extra high energy and move that way -
initially then settle down and run straight.
