Two Phil's was set up just perfect. He had the perfect trip, but Mage was just better on the day. My pick was Two Phil's, my husband picked Mage. We're both pretty happy they did well.

Thank you for posting this extrordinary sporting even combining the athletic ability of the equine species, and the guidance of the little tiny jockeys. I recall watching the FLINTSTONES as a youth in Bulgaria, and the jockeys were little monkeys.

Personally, I'm not a great fan of jump racing but I love watching the best of the best Flat horses compete against each other all over the world. Great fan of American racing. Read a lot of books, Andy Beyer, steven Crist, William l Scott, and many others.

My Son listened to me for the 1st time in his life🤣 and had $100 on MAGE to,WIN! Sat near great folks from Chicago, from LA, and Ohio. None had MAGE despite my urging. Skipping Derby 150 BUT will be back for #151 … health permitting. GOOD LUCK TO ALL.
I appreciate your emphasis on watching the horses. I prefer that to the constant focus on the owners, etc on the network coverage. However I thought I saw a horse rearing in the paddock during the broadcast and missed it here. Does anyone know which one (or timestamp if it was recorded here)? I saw an article that claimed part of the injury issue was the massive increase in people surrounding the horses and I believe they have a point watching this. The walk to the paddock and saddling has something like 5 to 10 times the people that used to be allowed pre-race.
If a horse reared I never saw it. Must’ve happened out of my view. The amount of people in the paddock here was no different than any other Derby, and the new temporary paddock has a whole lot more space for them to spread out than all the previous paddocks

Went too fast at the beginning for him to hold on. Bad move by the jockey, he doesn't need to be close to the lead. When pace went the way it did he should've pulled back and tried to get the trip Epicenter had last year.
The video footage is excellent. When the horses first started to arrive, I observed that the top 3 finishers were the only ones who had not lathered up on their hind legs. In other words, keep an eye on them! I didn't think Mage would win since I believed you had to run as a two-year candidate, but that's no longer an option.
Lucky horse. The Favorite has a heel problem. Gets withdrawal. Opens the race to Longshots. The Second Favorite is overrated. Ran from back wouldn't get to the top 8 . I had the second place horse as my pick for months. He will get his place in the sun soon.. This horse will have to run in Grade 1 races for the rest of it's career. It will lose every race. Because, he now has a target on it. Be forced to run against older horses in the Fall . To prove he's not a fluke. Does the name Rich Strike come to mind. He still hasn't proven to be any other than a KD winner.

I think Kingsbarns had everything he wanted in a trip but just ran out of steam. He was at or just off the lead most of the race.
