If this were a Harry Potter set we would’ve gotten a new hair mold for Bo Katan, side leg printing for Gar Saxon if not a cloth waist cape, and 2-3 more figures
To be fair tho, it’s not really reasonable to ask for that much more. The price per piece is good, the detail is amazing, and LEGO isn’t going to include more than the amount of figures that can fit in the vechicle, so the only additional figure we might have gotten was a standard maul Mandalorian. However it definitely should have come with a waistcape for Saxon and a new hairpiece for bo as well.
I've been looking forward to this. I feel like some simple landing gear would be a VERY easy mod to make to this set. Honestly, just moving the piece they used forward on the set would make it rest a bit more level.
I might be sucking up to Lego, but I don't think the hairpiece they use is all that bad. Sure it does have bangs while she doesn't but otherwise I think it comes pretty close to her character. Granted, I do think the Mandalorians look better with their helmets on because that mold they have been using for a while is amazing!
@@The7thFleet I know but what I meant was people might get board of them repeating the same sets like this year we got unexpected ucs sets so that means they're probably trying to make more in the territory of what people wants rather than just making another ucs tie fighter
I think the reason that Lego did not put some pieces to give a better landing position to the ship is because when you rotate the ship, you don't have enough space between the body and the wings.
This probably the only I set can afford so definitely a must buy. It’s a 10/10 but the only that made it 11/10 would be Rook Kast inclusion but beggars can’t be choosers.
I love this set too but it's FAR from 10/10. Don't give LEGO a pass on their mistakes, or they'll just keep making them. Ugly underwings and no landing gear ruin landed position. HUGE gap in the cockpit. Great minis but it's still 60$ so the build IS important. 7.5/10 for me although it's the one set I'm gonna buy right away.
I mean the reason I'm buying it is because I collect lego for only about a year and i was never allowed to buy a set of 80 pounds or dollars so this slave one is kind of essential for me. Plus the boba figure is amazing
A UCS of this at true minifig scale would be cool. I know it’s not as iconic as LUKE’S LANDSPEEDER but still it’s massive when you see it in star wars and it would be cool
Spot on review! A character as important as Bo Katan really deserves a new hair piece including the band. I do feel that black heads under helmets (e.g. Mandalorians ) is disappointing, they should have faces, and for bonus points could have black collars (which would work for Stormtroopers too).
What they did before was give the minifig heads an all black head but put a face on them so it looks like they're wearing some hood on their head under their helmet
So I found a solution to the ship kinda leaning down when you set it down. There are these two pieces that kinda act like landing gear under the part of the ship that rotates. They're towards the back though but if you move them to the front of the part they're on, it stands up nicely. I hope I was able to explain in a way that actually gets across what I'm trying to say lol.
New figures look great, I agree the belt printing makes a huge difference, I just wish LEGO would do arm printing. So making an army from these figures from this set would be very expensive ! :)
I just realized that the Mandalorian Loyalist that appear in this lego actually appears in the Clone Wars show. In the season 5 episode 14 exactly in the minute 8:40 piloting the starfigther (I realized while re-watching the series) I think he was someone in command alongside with Vizla and Bo-Katan. And when Maul took over he left with Bo. He is also seen in the next episode in the minute 9:25 close to Bo and Visla
Wish they made a mauldalorian fighter to counter this one. They could’ve added another desth watch loyalist and had Gar Saxon, Maul, and the prominent female mauldalorian from season 7
Do you realize that the back of the box art is from star wars rebels season four episode one, when they are trying to break out sabines father, but is then a trap. Ryan you need to notice these things and call Lego out on it!
im hoping that lego does like what they did here with gar saxon with a phase 2 cody, and there can be a molded visor on the helmet like the horns where molded on to gars helmet
I’m sooo excited to get this set for that Gar Saxon minifigure! I also need that Bo Katan for an upcoming Mandalorian moc involving Moff Gideon’s light cruiser, the imperial shuttle, boba fett’s starship (😂) and Tie Fighters.
I love this set! I am so glad to have a Bo Katan Minifig. I wish they could have made a new hairpeace with a bandana. Lego could still use the hair peace for many other things, with diffrent prints. You review is so much more profetional then my own of this set :( I am still just using my cell phone to film. I need to get a display setup for the minifigs.

Now i am diagnosed with OCD so i might have been a little weird as a kid. But regardless, whenever a lego space ship had a noticable gap, it totally ruined my emersion while playing with it.
Now that you mentioned the defects, Ima invest in two of these. 1 unopened and the other for modification. Paint the rest of Gars Legs. Add landing gears Cover the back wings with tiles
To display the ship in landed position I think you would be able to remove the wings and “put them on backwards” so the underside is seen in flying position but the topside would be visible in the landed position

I liked the comment about adding a little extra to the landing gear to make it taller. But then when you were demonstrating how it spins--you can see there's basically zero clearance to add any more landing gear. That's a tight fit to spin the cockpick without hitting the wings. I guess it was a no-go without something that folded.
I think the summer 2021 wave is fantastic. I don’t buy much Lego anymore, but I picked up the slave one. All the mini figures in these sets are so cool and detailed and I would get all if I had the money and space to do so!!! Great review!
I just purchased this and _Slave I;_ after school, I’ll either build either set or dust the house. Whichever comes first, although the latter does need done.
The only thing that bugs me on this set is the spring loaded shooters and stud shooters. I know lego loves to put them on literally every Star Wars set but they look so out of place and it takes away from the set as a whole IMO.
This set gives me ptsd to when I destroyed my pre vizslas mandalorian star fighter and the mini figures. I look back on that and realize that I made a huge mistake.

The colors of Bo Katan and Mandolorian loyalist definitely seem brighter than advertised on the lego website. Darker blue for the hands and helmet would have looked a lot better.
the landing gear is the way it is for stability in order to not put extra stress on the parts. I dont quite agree with it but I DO understand why they did it.
Hey @MandRproductions, if you don't like the hair piece for Bo-Katan, my suggestion would be to use the Dastan/Obi-Wan (Episode 2) hair piece in that same Dark Orange color. Trust me, I think it will make her look way better ☺👍👍

But, despite that yes, it may be a bit curly at the end of the hair piece, it is the closest alternative to the figure. Or just go with the classic Luke hair piece from the Episode 4 sets. The original one from 1999-2009. They also used that hair piece for Obi-Wan (Episode 2) 2002 sets & Anakin (Episode 3) 2005 sets.

when i had the original set i had two of them so i took the cockpit off one of them and pretended it was a halo sword

The mandalorian loyalist is not generic as the figure is based off of a specific character in either S5 or S7 of TCW.

The Mandalorian Starfighter is quite possible my personal favourite 2021 Lego set of all time based on the design alone.
A $30 set like the 501st one where you get 2 332nd Clones (Ahoka’s Clone troopers) 2 Mandolorian loyalists, and 2 Death Watch Mandolorians
