Those two panels of Zarla's Handplates Gaster at 3:17 were amazingly placed! I love that you see normal Gaster with the skelebro's souls and his own between them, looking sorrowful and reluctant to continue on the path he's chosen and then it flashes immediately to his Lost Soul form, he's thoroughly destroyed himself and left both boys broken inside, even though they don't know why. This whole thing is amazing but those two panels placed at just the right time with the song gave me chills.
Interesting thing about Gaster as a character, since there is virtually no canonical information about him(if its even a he), people are pushed to the absolute extremes of their imaginations with all the various interpretations. The results, as portrayed in this video, are extremely intriguing. My favorite part was seeing all the different Gaster's looking at all the different "Don't forget" drawings, as if the only commonality between them is a desperate need to preserve their fractured memories. Very well done on the part of all the contributing artists, we can all only hope to see even more of the mysterious doctor in the void.
Back when the project was just starting I remember reading that the idea was that since there are so many different interpretations of Gaster what if "good" Gasters were haunted by "bad" Gasters in keeping with the theme of the song (I'm black turning white/My enemy's invisible, I don't know how to fight/The echo in the mirror). So it's a big metaphor and combing everybody's interpretations.

this is what I love about Gaster, we know almost nothing about him so fans can interpret him any way they want and there really is no wrong way to go with him
Drawing skeletons, varied poses, and hands are so freaking hard... and now this is like all of that mixed into one. The art is amazing. I applaud the artists that spent so much time and effort on this, including the editors because they must have had their work cut out for them.
If by 'editors' you mean the one who assembled everything together, that was only me. I had a lot of folks to bounce WIPs to to get a second, third, nth opinion on, but boy howdy was it a lot on me. As for folks who helped export individual frames and make small edits per arm set or assisting with little fixes on each of the files, major work was done by the Mod team. Each artist had the responsibility to export their frames and do their own work. It was certainly not done alone! Most everyone did incredible work on their pieces, and the video shines brighter for it. Truthfully, I think everyone who participated has gained some ranks in hand-drawing as a result of all this practice.

Yeah, I saw UF!Gaster and HP!Gaster in there. I think TheBombDiggity666 was one of the Gs that fell in. It was real fast, I couldn't tell. But I think both theirs and Bunnymuse's Gasters fell in the CORE. BUT WHY DID THEY HAVE HANDPLATES GASTER PUSH?! HE WASN'T BAD, JUST TWISTED! So, uh, not _intentionally_ being bad. I mean, he knew what he was doing and it was a conscious decision, but he was doing it for his friends, so... Would that still be bad? As Mayor Lionheart from _Zootopia_ says, it "was a doing-the-wrong-thing-for-the-right-reason kind of thing." HELP ME I'M SUCH A GASTER DEFENDANT

Nor does his sadness, or his sad backstory, or his self hate, or how much he loves Asgore, Toriel, and Alphys (and sometimes Sans and Papyrus). Nothing justifies the absolute betrayal of the skelebros and the torture he puts them through. He is responsible for his actions.

I had no idea there were at least 83 Gaster-focused AUs running, I'm only familiar with Handplates. Love the effort you put into this project! Especially near the end, where they had multiple arms and each of them did something different. (cover the mouth/eyes, sign, attack etc.) -It immediately reminded me of hindu gods, and in a sense some AUs have Gaster "playing God," it's a nice touch.- Edit: I've completely forgot about the art in the original ECHO video, but the point should still stand.
That... was amazing. So many people made drawings, some looking creepy and scary, some cartoonish and polished... (Polished as in the edges aren't alpha-ed, like the head is the same color, etc.) The gasters changing just feels... right. Like, when you think about gaster glitching in the void, you think he's changing shape, as seen in the video.

Something I might interpret this as is that Gaster is free from the game, so it's possible he could know about AUs, or at least what we portray them as, and have met them. Might even cause an identity crisis.
this video is soooo good. it shhowcases just how creative the undertale community can be. we know very little about Gaster but people have taken what we do know and ran with it to create sooo many cool, unique concepts. Good, evil and everywhere in between. God bless all the artists that worked on this, and You, Tech, for putting it together! This is truely a treat to watch

Armsofsteel gaming From my understanding, that is correct. I cannot state exactly why any/everyone did what all they did, but it was a volunteer project without pay. It's completely reasonable that they did not want to put in the time and effort to contribute, as opposed to working on their individual projects that drive their audience. Each contributor (and non-contributor) has their own reasoning and emotions and we wish to respect that.

It's awesome, I recognized a ton (hehetumblramirite) but I'm kinda disappointed that AFAC isn't in here and MWSIH is. They did (and are still doing I think) a huge crossover.
They are still doing crossover shenanigans, but the AFAC team elected to not spend time on this in order to keep up with their askblog comic flow. We were sad that they decided not to join, but we respect their reasoning for themselves.

Look at all these Gasters!!!!! It's so cool how different each interpretation is. I recognized at least 7 of the participants, but I recognized about half of the art-styles.
I love this! I love how there are so many different designs and interpretations for just one character. To some, Gaster is kind, but misjudged, and to others, he is evil and cruel. To some, he is Sans and Papyrus' loving, caring father, or their horrible, cruel creator, or the brothers are Gaster before he split in two, or maybe they're not related at all. I love the mystery behind this character and all the fan theories out there!
Woahhh! How have I only found this now? There are so many amazing artists and more that I have to explore. All the different gasters are so cool and creative aghhh! This is so good how could I have missed this!
Veeeery coooool! And so fitting. I really liked the part where his fluxing variations were pushed off the ledge. Really neat touch. The constant changing and interpretations work so darn well as an overall concept, reflecting on Gaster's mystery and the fact that he's scattered through time and space; he could be any or all of those forms and then some. Wonderful work, everyone! :D
Not only loved all the Gaster designs, but the way the were all practically in same size/position in the center while changing; and their poses all fit together with the song so greatly! Not to mention, the credits were amazing and cool XD Was a smart way to shout out everyone's Gaster's, pages, and credit- as well as also be entertaining to sit through and watch :3

It's good to see this video gaining traction once in a while, there's some weird sense of nostalgia about this that I can't put a word to it. It's been 3.5 years before I got redirected back to here by pure coincidence. But I miss all the crazy shenanigans everyone had come up about this singular egghead with fractured lore. I miss that time when the most random idea can put someone's life back together. I'm happy about that.
I recently came back to Undertale and thus back to Gaster ... damn I had so much fun back then searching for theories about him, reading and watching several AUs where he was featured (some of my favourites include "Man who speaks in hands" and "Glitchtale") and now I came back to this vid as well. I still highly appreciate it! I probably should finally tackle Ch. 2 of Deltarune ... but it seems Gaster might play a huge role in Deltarunes story ... and I don't know if I want to see the mystery surrounding this character cleared. After all it's THAT mystery that made projects like this video so amazing back in 2016

Drawing skeletons, varied poses, and hands are so freaking hard... and now this is like all of that mixed into one. The art is amazing. I applaud the artists that spent so much time and effort on this, including the editors because they must have had their work cut out for them.
If by 'editors' you mean the one who assembled everything together, that was only me. I had a lot of folks to bounce WIPs to to get a second, third, nth opinion on, but boy howdy was it a lot on me. As for folks who helped export individual frames and make small edits per arm set or assisting with little fixes on each of the files, major work was done by the Mod team. Each artist had the responsibility to export their frames and do their own work. It was certainly not done alone! Most everyone did incredible work on their pieces, and the video shines brighter for it.
Truthfully, I think everyone who participated has gained some ranks in hand-drawing as a result of all this practice.

Yeah, I saw UF!Gaster and HP!Gaster in there. I think TheBombDiggity666 was one of the Gs that fell in. It was real fast, I couldn't tell. But I think both theirs and Bunnymuse's Gasters fell in the CORE.
BUT WHY DID THEY HAVE HANDPLATES GASTER PUSH?! HE WASN'T BAD, JUST TWISTED! So, uh, not _intentionally_ being bad. I mean, he knew what he was doing and it was a conscious decision, but he was doing it for his friends, so... Would that still be bad? Nor does his sadness, or his sad backstory, or his self hate, or how much he loves Asgore, Toriel, and Alphys (and sometimes Sans and Papyrus). Nothing justifies the absolute betrayal of the skelebros and the torture he puts them through. He is responsible for his actions.

I'm just really happy that all of those creations are shared to us because undertale brought so many artists together to collaborate on something like this!!! I had no idea there were at least 83 Gaster-focused AUs running, I'm only familiar with Handplates. Love the effort you put into this project! Especially near the end, where they had multiple arms and each of them did something different. (cover the mouth/eyes, sign, attack etc.) -It immediately reminded me of hindu gods, and in a sense some AUs have Gaster "playing God," it's a nice touch.- Edit: I've completely forgot about the art in the original ECHO video, but the point should still stand.
Not all of them have a blog or AU, but all of them have a story, published or not.
This just puts into perspective how vast the Undertale community is. Great job everyone who contributes to it.
That... was amazing. So many people made drawings, some looking creepy and scary, some cartoonish and polished... (Polished as in the edges aren't alpha-ed, like the head is the same color, etc.) The gasters changing just feels... right. Like, when you think about gaster glitching in the void, you think he's changing shape, as seen in the video.
Some Gasters are cute, others are straight from a nightmare. And I like everyone of them =D

some characters he could be referring to include: Toby fox/annoying dog, Temmie, sans, Asriel, Asgore, Toriel, Chara/(insert your name here), any of his followers, the river person. (probably not Papyrus given how oblivious he seems, and not Alphys as she wasn't even around when Gaster was the royal scientist, though Alphys did find Gaster's schematics for the Determination extractor)

this video is soooo good. it shhowcases just how creative the undertale community can be. we know very little about Gaster but people have taken what we do know and ran with it to create sooo many cool, unique concepts. Good, evil and everywhere in between. God bless all the artists that worked on this, and You, Tech, for putting it together! This is truely a treat to watch

From my understanding, that is correct. I cannot state exactly why any/everyone did what all they did, but it was a volunteer project without pay. It's completely reasonable that they did not want to put in the time and effort to contribute, as opposed to working on their individual projects that drive their audience. Each contributor (and non-contributor) has their own reasoning and emotions and we wish to respect that.

It's awesome, I recognized a ton (hehetumblramirite) but I'm kinda disappointed that AFAC isn't in here and MWSIH is. They did (and are still doing I think) a huge crossover.
They are still doing crossover shenanigans, but the AFAC team elected to not spend time on this in order to keep up with their askblog comic flow. We were sad that they decided not to join, but we respect their reasoning for themselves.

I love this! I love how there are so many different designs and interpretations for just one character. To some, Gaster is kind, but misjudged, and to others, he is evil and cruel. To some, he is Sans and Papyrus' loving, caring father, or their horrible, cruel creator, or the brothers are Gaster before he split in two, or maybe they're not related at all. I love the mystery behind this character and all the fan theories out there!

Veeeery coooool! And so fitting. I really liked the part where his fluxing variations were pushed off the ledge. Really neat touch. The constant changing and interpretations work so darn well as an overall concept, reflecting on Gaster's mystery and the fact that he's scattered through time and space; he could be any or all of those forms and then some. Wonderful work, everyone! :D
Not only loved all the Gaster designs, but the way the were all practically in same size/position in the center while changing; and their poses all fit together with the song so greatly!

I recently came back to Undertale and thus back to Gaster ... damn I had so much fun back then searching for theories about him, reading and watching several AUs where he was featured (some of my favourites include "Man who speaks in hands" and "Glitchtale") and now I came back to this vid as well. I still highly appreciate it! I probably should finally tackle Ch. 2 of Deltarune ... but it seems Gaster might play a huge role in Deltarunes story ... and I don't know if I want to see the mystery surrounding this character cleared. After all it's THAT mystery that made projects like this video so amazing back in 2016
