Thanks Fred! Yes taking edges to a higher grit will make them slippery slick and shiny Sometimes if I’m bored I’ve gone up to 2500 just for the fun of seeing the results. Definitely not realistic or practical 😂

Great video. That's the hardest part. Slicking . By hand. Man that's some good work. I use boot polish hi shine. Have to let it dry . Or heat gun work good. Then water and cotton balls. Or a buffing brush . Nice shine. God bless. From Glenn CATT in Massachusetts.

I really appreciate the kind words and yes the polishing wheel(s) I use on an old shoemaker’s finishing line is Horsehair and the other is a cotton polishing wheel. I’m so glad these videos are helpful for ya!

10:19 PM Pacific. Watched and liked all your videos. Question, while you were burnishing the edge you mentioned we’d have to expand to the other edges as well. Good point but how do you wax them all as well as the welt edge with most of them sewn already in place? Especially the wax/weatherproof add without risking your sheath. CSLG

Hello Viktor, coming back to this video... I think I remember you talking in a more recent video about your beeswax/glycerine mix, and in this one you're talking about beeswax/parafine, so now I'm confuse, which one is it? ^^ And do you make it yourself? Just melting the two together? I have to say I prefer burnishing my edges with a glycerine soap block as I find the beeswax sticky. But beeswax is more protective, so a mix could be nice, just not sure if I can melt glycerine soap and if it will mix well with beeswax. Just wanted to ear from you before I try it ! ^^ Can't wait for your next video!
I probably didn’t articulate that well😂 It’s actually either and by that I mean a 50/50 blend of beeswax and paraffin as a burnishing wax or just a little edge moisture with water and a glycerin bar rub. Both of these work great, however I find that if I have some microscopic pin holes on the edge the wax blend fills them better leaving a smoother finish. Both require the tedious hand process of burnishing tho . I mix my beeswax and paraffin in a double boiler to make my edge cakes Hopefully that helps and if not, I’m good with an old fashioned phone call or text (520)909-8256 Arizona time
