Hilarious (to me anyway).. we have the same punch dummy and I named him... yep, you guessed it.. Bob.. years ago. He's a little rougher looking and a like to play dress up.
How do you know if the old tool is made of "high carbon steel"?
Viktor George, when looking for old tools to sharpen into a skiving knife, how do you identify "high carbon steel"? Thank you in advance.
It’s a harder steel. Isn’t shiny or flexible like today’s inexpensive ones. There’s a patina that also develops to a gray shade with black shading.
@@viktorgeorge9144 It will most likely be rusty too.
🇺🇸🤜
I like a your tips/hacks. I Watched your VHS video upload…you used Olive Oil and this video you use Neatsfoot Oil. Difference? Reasons?
I have seen a few notable makers using Extra Virgin Olive Oil and others say it will go rancid. Neatsfoot darkens leather too much?
Thanks.
That first video circa 1996 was made when I used olive oil and I still do occasionally. Certain vegtan will turn a nice sun baked golden brown and some don’t. I’ve never had a problem with it becoming rancid. I think alittle goes a long way. Today I use a saddle oil from Bee Natural Leathercare which is basically neatsfoot with a mouse deterrent ingredients Any of these are good as long as it’s not overused Thanks again for your support
Tell her you loaned it to a neighbor and forgot who Thx Harley 😂
