Just got my kit installed in my 2014 ML550. What a nightmare haha. It’s almost the same as the GLE except Had to run the RGB wires through the door jamb Oem wire connector. That was half the job right there. Thanks for the video. I couldn’t have done it without this video for reference.

Hi! In US GL became GLS in 2017. Not sure if that is different in other countries. Where do you change your colors now? In the cluster or on the screen? If in the cluster, yes. If on the screen, such as the GLE in the video, you will need to program.
Hi Don! Sounds like you got the kit that requires you to run the dash light harness through the passenger A pillar/door boot and plugs into the same module the door uses. You will need to add some pins to the connector between the A pillar and door.
@@dusaintel no need and I would never recommend that. There are extra pin slots in that connector that will allow for the addition of said pins. Your kit should have come with some and if it didn’t, CKM has done you a disservice. Contact him about this. He is usually pretty good about replying.

Because these kits can be used with various models, it is important to set each module or the “master module” to the correct setting. Your kit might be different, but doesn’t hurt to ask just in case.

Hi there! You must flash your COMAND unit to unlock full color spectrum. This is done with OBD module and a mini app on We Chat App. Who did you purchase your kit from?

Hi, I recently installed a kit on my ML63. The doors are perfect, but my dash ambient lighting isn't turning on any longer. When I first installed it the dash ambient lighting was dim and it sometimes would be a different color than the doors when it was actually working. The abmient lighting would also flicker sometimes.. Now the dash lights dont seem to want to turn on at all. Doors are perfect and have continued to be. Could you give me some pointers? I added you on Instagram as well. Your video was helpful during my install!
I hate to hear that, man. Check all connections relating to the dash harness. Does your dash lighting have its own module? If so, it could be the module. I’ve run into that before. If you’re sharing a door module, but the door lighting is good, then swap connectors and see if your issue moves to the door.
I had an issue with the dash light being a different colour during the install, it turned out that on of the pins for the wire wasn’t pushed into the plug properly (the plug between door and cabin). Once o fixed this the problem was gone. I would check those pins as the modules in your doors are all working, it can only be the pins not connecting

Hey, sorry for the late reply! You can omit that harness for the w212. The dash harness is to be routed through left front door and connects to that module.

Im sorry, I never did. The process is confusing to most and requires the seller to send you an invitation to WeChat App. It is all in Chinese. I cannot endorse this process. Coding your vehicle is something that should be done with care as there is always the possibility of damaging your unit. Should the aftermarket streamline the process, I would be happy to produce an instruction video. Or at least make the app in a universal language. Google lens works well, but it becomes quite frustrating if you don’t have another device to translate in real-time.

I did this same setup on my 2014 ML63 AMG and connected everything back but my passenger side mirror camera when going in reverse doesn’t work but it worked before I unplugged everything. Maybe you can help me on why that’s happening or maybe I missed something else didn’t connect ?
😢 did you happen to unplug the green or blue fakra connector coming out of the mirror? Make sure it clicks into place. Also, there is a separate connector or 2 that comes from the mirror. This supplies power to the camera, mirror, and blind spot detection. Make sure they are plugged in and maybe even make double sure all the pins are fully seated. Let me know!
I get power to it heated mirror paddle light signal works just not the camera. Maybe it could be that where the blue or green clip needs to be clicked in place very possible. I will check tomorrow fingers crossed I will keep you updated.

Hi Tony, thanks for watching! For your 2013, you can order any kit made for the w212 or w218. Take a look on eBay. You won’t need to program because you currently change your colors on the instrument cluster. It will still only show you current 3 colors, but if you continue to scroll, it will continue changing colors. The seller I used to promote doesn’t sell the kit I’m referring to. Installation will be a little different, but overall, it is very similar.
Hey! So, you have 2 options. You can source the necessary trim pieces with acrylic tubes from a salvage yard, install the aftermarket kit, and then have someone code your vehicle to activate ambient lighting option in your instrument cluster (this step may not be necessary as you change the color by holding the "ok" button while using the "call" or "hang up" buttons. The second option is to purchase a universal kit from DMP or Ali and make your own using the supplied fiber optic tubing.

My kit just comes with 4 black boxes for the the doors and bunch of wiring for the front, is it possible that the front dash board doesn't need a black box?

@@iconam9283 unfortunately I don't have instgram, however I did everything as you said and I tested only the rear doors after installing the kit, but nothing happened, the lights didn't turned on and I tried to change the light through the settings to different light but still no light. Do you have any idea what did I do wrong? I checked every connection and it was correct tried both rear door and nothing happened.

I didn’t. This customer requested that I leave the footwell lighting as is because when you replace the factory light housing with the ambient lighting, you lose the factory footwell illumination. That was more important to him. Granted, they would still illuminate in color, but he preferred the warm white lighting. Footwell lighting is easy though. The harness connects to the same harness/module as the dash lighting. Routing of wires is done through center console and down the sides of the transmission tunnel behind the carpet. Be sure to leave enough slack under the seat to allow for forward and backward adjustment of the seat. For a factory-like installation, remove front footwell carpeting and route wires through cable channels instead.
Francesco is incredibly helpful via Instagram and has a wealth of knowledge on these types of kits like I’ve never seen before. I would have been lost with out him so make sure you listen to what he has to say!!
Unfortunately, the seller no longer has them available. There are other kits available that require some re-pinning of one of the door connectors. Take a look at some of the comments and ask for suggestions. There are some good folks on here that I’ve helped. Good luck!

@@bigwilito ok. Is your interior light switch on the overhead control panel in the middle or left position? And yes, this kit will work on your vehicle. You will need to code the COMAND unit to reflect all 12 colors.

2019 was a weird year so I didn’t include it in the range as the w167 chassis was introduced that year. Yes, it will work as long as you have a w166 such as the one in the video.
@@_yadav3000 sorry, I’m still a bit confused about the question so I will explain. 2012-15 ML350 does not need coding as the colors are changed in the instrument cluster. It will show solar, polar, and neutral but you will be able to continue scrolling and the colors will change. 2016-2019 GLE must be coded to unlock 12-color palette as the colors are changed on the COMAND unit. Regardless of year, if your vehicle has the factory ambient light option, all LEDs must be replaced as they are not designed to provide a wide spectrum of colors. The dashboard does not need to be removed, but dash trim, vents, climate control and COMAND unit must be removed. Hope this helps.

Hey Nick! Looks like Endless DIY is out of stock and have been for a while. If you do a quick Ali Express search, you will find some kits on there. Most of the ones I’ve seen on there only have 4 modules which require a little extra work as you have to pin one of the door connectors so that you can use a door module for the dash and footwell lighting. It’s not bad, though. I won’t post a link because I don’t endorse any products that I haven’t purchased myself or installed. Before you purchase, make sure the seller will support you as 2016+ GLE will require some coding. Please watch the video in its entirety and listen closely as I explain. This kit should cost you no more than $150-$200. I’m happy to help you through the install as I have many others. Tips are always welcomed!

Hey, sorry for the late reply! You can omit that harness for the w212. The dash harness is to be routed through left front door and connects to that module.

Im sorry, I never did. The process is confusing to most and requires the seller to send you an invitation to WeChat App. It is all in Chinese. I cannot endorse this process. Coding your vehicle is something that should be done with care as there is always the possibility of damaging your unit. Should the aftermarket streamline the process, I would be happy to produce an instruction video. Or at least make the app in a universal language. Google lens works well, but it becomes quite frustrating if you don’t have another device to translate in real-time.

I did this same setup on my 2014 ML63 AMG and connected everything back but my passenger side mirror camera when going in reverse doesn’t work but it worked before I unplugged everything. Maybe you can help me on why that’s happening or maybe I missed something else didn’t connect ?
😢 did you happen to unplug the green or blue fakra connector coming out of the mirror? Make sure it clicks into place. Also, there is a separate connector or 2 that comes from the mirror. This supplies power to the camera, mirror, and blind spot detection. Make sure they are plugged in and maybe even make double sure all the pins are fully seated. Let me know!
I get power to it heated mirror paddle light signal works just not the camera. Maybe it could be that where the blue or green clip needs to be clicked in place very possible. I will check tomorrow fingers crossed I will keep you updated.
@@iconam9283 Hi so I got a chance to take off panel again and double check if camera was unplugged, I found nothing everything is in correctly I removed and clipped it back together same thing no different it probably died when I disconnected radio and everything else who knows. I found one on eBay for $200 I’m

Hi Tony, thanks for watching! For your 2013, you can order any kit made for the w212 or w218. Take a look on eBay. You won’t need to program because you currently change your colors on the instrument cluster. It will still only show you current 3 colors, but if you continue to scroll, it will continue changing colors. The seller I used to promote doesn’t sell the kit I’m referring to. Installation will be a little different, but overall, it is very similar.
Way to complicated for me to fuck up the car. Haha. So I be fine with 3 light option unfortunately.

Hey! So, you have 2 options. You can source the necessary trim pieces with acrylic tubes from a salvage yard, install the aftermarket kit, and then have someone code your vehicle to activate ambient lighting option in your instrument cluster (this step may not be necessary as you change the color by holding the "ok" button while using the "call" or "hang up" buttons.
The second option is to purchase a universal kit from DMP or Ali and make your own using the supplied fiber optic tubing.

Thanks, very helpful I bought mine from elsewhere before I watched this and it had it today. I got a bit confused at the end where you put everything together at the front Dashboard. My kit just comes with 4 black boxes for the the doors and bunch of wiring for the front, is it possible that the front dash board doesn't need a black box?
Thanks, Emad! Yes, your kit probably requires you to fish the the dash trim harness through the left door and connect it to the “main” box. That’s how the ML kit is. Tell me more about your vehicle.

@@iconam9283 unfortunately I don't have instgram, however I did everything as you said and I tested only the rear doors after installing the kit, but nothing happened, the lights didn't turned on and I tried to change the light through the settings to different light but still no light. Do you have any idea what did I do wrong? I checked every connection and it was correct tried both rear door and nothing happened.

You didn't do footwell?
I didn’t. This customer requested that I leave the footwell lighting as is because when you replace the factory light housing with the ambient lighting, you lose the factory footwell illumination. That was more important to him. Granted, they would still illuminate in color, but he preferred the warm white lighting. Footwell lighting is easy though. The harness connects to the same harness/module as the dash lighting. Routing of wires is done through center console and down the sides of the transmission tunnel behind the carpet. Be sure to leave enough slack under the seat to allow for forward and backward adjustment of the seat. For a factory-like installation, remove front footwell carpeting and route wires through cable channels instead.
Francesco is incredibly helpful via Instagram and has a wealth of knowledge on these types of kits like I’ve never seen before. I would have been lost with out him so make sure you listen to what he has to say!!

Unfortunately, the seller no longer has them available. There are other kits available that require some re-pinning of one of the door connectors. Take a look at some of the comments and ask for suggestions. There are some good folks on here that I’ve helped. Good luck!

@@bigwilito ok. Is your interior light switch on the overhead control panel in the middle or left position? And yes, this kit will work on your vehicle. You will need to code the COMAND unit to reflect all 12 colors.

2019 was a weird year so I didn’t include it in the range as the w167 chassis was introduced that year. Yes, it will work as long as you have a w166 such as the one in the video.

@@_yadav3000 sorry, I’m still a bit confused about the question so I will explain.
2012-15 ML350 does not need coding as the colors are changed in the instrument cluster. It will show solar, polar, and neutral but you will be able to continue scrolling and the colors will change.
2016-2019 GLE must be coded to unlock 12-color palette as the colors are changed on the COMAND unit.
Regardless of year, if your vehicle has the factory ambient light option, all LEDs must be replaced as they are not designed to provide a wide spectrum of colors.
The dashboard does not need to be removed, but dash trim, vents, climate control and COMAND unit must be removed. Hope this helps.

Yes sir! They both use the same COMAND unit and CAN protocol so it’s identical to the GLE.

Hey Nick! Looks like Endless DIY is out of stock and have been for a while. If you do a quick Ali Express search, you will find some kits on there. Most of the ones I’ve seen on there only have 4 modules which require a little extra work as you have to pin one of the door connectors so that you can use a door module for the dash and footwell lighting. It’s not bad, though. I won’t post a link because I don’t endorse any products that I haven’t purchased myself or installed. Before you purchase, make sure the seller will support you as 2016+ GLE will require some coding. Please watch the video in its entirety and listen closely as I explain. This kit should cost you no more than $150-$200. I’m happy to help you through the install as I have many others. Tips are always welcomed!
