- We return to Sydney Dragway for the opening round of the 2019-20 400 Thunder season, the East Coast Thunder and in this edition, the crowd favourites of the sport that are Pro Slammer hit the track to kick off their new season. Two times and defending champion Paul Mouhayet has abdicated the throne for this new season, meaning that the 2019-20 Pro Slammer title is very much up for grabs. Who will strike first blood in Sydney?

What I love most about your 400 Thunder series down under is the variety of old body styles in your promos, sorry pro slammers class. Here in the USA, the bodies are pretty much all modern bodied cameos, corvettes that have been so radically modified in shape that they don't even look like a production car any more.

It's a shame to see such small crowds at a major event like this, pricing is just to dear $$$$... I even emailed the track asking why there were no family price tickets to make it more affordable for families and got no response at all...! In saying this, we did not attend the event, we just can't afford over $130-$140 for a family of 4 to attend a day like this, including having to buy food,drinks... It's just to costly.
Attending a major drag racing event is something I love, but not at the prices they are charging.!
In America these type of cars which we call pro modified race at local tracks all around the country every weekend and only cost around $10-$20 to get in

Is this the Australian version of NHRA? I never knew Australians had drag racing! You don’t see funny cars or pro stock use classic muscle cars (Mustangs etc) for bodys! Very cool!!!

I'd say several thousand
They have 11000 horsepower
@@brockdrew9594 no they don't, top fuels have. I'm not sure if they have around 3000-4000 or more that's why I ask.
UI Goku it’s between 3000-4500 those are the rules
@@Gokuuuuu13 TF have between 12-14,000 hp nowadays, in the states anyway. Pro mod in USA have between 4-6,000 hp, in AUS I think they're capping at about 3,500 hp. Screw car probably makes no more than 3,100, but screw is substantially lighter than PSI.
In USA they predominantly run 1,000 FT in Pro Mod (Pro Slammer/Doorslammer) solely because they make so much more power, and are therefore more capable of running between 250-280 mph in the quarter. NHRA decided it was too dangerous for door cars to run quicker than 5.4s @ 284 mph (some dude ran it with twin turbos in a camaro), and said 1,000 FT will do. They run 3.8s @ 240 mph in 1,000 FT.
