As a Sonya main, I highly suggest picking her as a beginner character she got so many mix ups that are easy to execute plus zoning, her and liu kang are perfect if you like to get up close and personal
Sonya has been my main since MK9 but recently I've moved to a couple other characters in part due to the nerf but also because these dash combos can be hard to land online in KL. Looking forward to labbing this like crazy and bringing the gal back to the fight!

I am a Noob Saibot Main so coming from him who is punished for almost everything it’s rewarding to play Sonya with her moves that just flow so beautifully on screen in to combos and specials to finish them off like her < > 4 or < > 2
Sonya Blade is my favorite female character (Along with Kitana, Mileena and Sindel), apart from being the best female character in the MK universe, I have a great affection for being the first fighter to appear in MK and she has great combos and skills , I miss her leg grab

She beat an ice deity, a demigod(Ik Raiden was probably being easy on her but she still beat him), 2 assasins that have more than 10.000 years of experience, a deadly sorcerer, a literal immortal tyrant and many more

And yes power scaling in MK is just bullshit lol, Kitana and Jade managed to beat both Shao and Kotal kahn but Sonya beat both Kitana and Jade 25 years ago, so does that mean Sonya should be kahn? This micro dash combo is really impressive and I spent 2 hours doing this combo and it was so satisfying when it worked and I could do it automatically but ones I played online with ping 40+ this combo just no longer workes.So that I spent those hours completely pointless (((
The 1st full combo only seems to work on larger hitboxes. After practice, I can consistently do it on Jax yet I am unable to pull it off on Kitana I also have trouble witht the whole 134 string. I execute these combos more consistently if i stop at 13 then do the next part of the string.

Instead of going straight into Overwatch, press triangle (if you play on PS) I don't know what the button is for Pc and Xbox but it's the most powerful overhead that doesn't knock them over. Do that and then go into Overwatch. It deals 30 more damage once the combo is over with. If you meter Ass Whooping, it will add 48 more damage.. giving you a combo 1 damage away from 40% with only on bar of meter
Hey I just picked up the game and just went to your tutorial, this is so good it really helped me, but I was wondering.. what's the point of the corner combo where you cancel your AMP into another combo? I tried going for the normal combo that you do in the beginning, but just in a corner, obviously without the dashes and it seems to deal more damage than the whole cancel AMP thing, + if you AMP your last hit with the combo, it deals way more damage and the same cost of amplify meters, and it's also easier to do, is there another reason why you went for the cancel AMP thing?
Ive done her most powerful combo which requires the micro dashing several times however the 3,33, into 134 in the corner is impossible. I have tried it hundreds of times and never pulled it off still. There is no space between 33, and 134 to connect. You cant cancel into it fast and if you wait for a delay its too long. Maybe the timing is so so tight... however if its that hard its almost never worth doing and pointless. I dont know if they have patched sonya for these not to connect or if my controller is broken or something but I can't complete them.
it's not impossible bro, it's just that it and need lots of training and practice, if you do it eveyday for 2 hours eventually you will get it nice and smooth.

I have trouble going from At Ease to Ass Whooping? What do you think im doing wrong? Is there like a cancel that i dont really know about in between those two? Or like a patch?
It might be that you're not executing the first double dash early enough to knock your opponent high enough to give yourself sufficient time to do the second dash and connect. Just before the last knee lands from Overwatch (back 123) double dash then hit 22 for Unconditional Surender. If you time it right, the opponent should be knocked v high (near the top of of the screen). Just as 2nd kick of 22 connects, double dash again and go straight into At Ease (134). You need to invoke the moves straight after the double dashes, but the entry shouldn't overlap. I still struggle to connect it 5 times in row :)
Most likely imputing it too early. The execution for her can feel tough because once your done, you move to the next. Wait for her to recover from it and move to the next one. It’s hard to explain and it’s something from trial and error will help

The corner combo with the energy rings cancel is hard to do🤦🏻♂️, i cancel the second ring then do the square x circle combo it resets my combo help meh plz😭
It is hard to do, only those who mastered run cancels mechanic are able to do them also knowing how to micro dash. In order for me to do it, i had to build muscle memory first. Just do the amplify ring special move dash dash and don’t worry about canceling it fast. Just do it many time (10x). Once you get a good hang (doing it without thinking). Then you can challenge ur self to do it quick. Quick timing not pressing.
Step 101: Play 50 ranked games against spamming opponents until you finally get the combo online. But really, I love combo characters and doing extremely long combos, but sometimes in ranked you don't get the chance to do them. Most ranked games for me are just poke and who gets the first low/overhead. But I'd love to see more videos for the post august patch on combos since a lot of characters got changes, like Sonya losing one combo extender special move. Keep it up.
Ill be honest, I am discontinuing this series, because all I have been doing isdoing these in the past year. I will be covering more general topics and guides for the channel instead. I find myself doing the alternative version since its easier to cancel into with more timing between input windows. As of right now, I know she only received one big nerf from her juggle combos but that is it.
