    I have a 2005 TB EXT LT with the 4.2 and I removed the vortex box and ran the K&N cold air directly to the throttle body, then added the air raid spacer and WOW! The sound is incredible and made a world of difference. Paired with a Flowmaster 40 Pro single tip (a great option if you want good rumble and low drone at highway speeds btw) lose the resonator and she's much quicker than I expected. As far as MPG, I'm getting a steady 18MPG at 65 MPH level ground. Could be higher but it's the EXT LT, so weight is her obstacle. Went with bigger/wider tires with 1 1/2 wheel spacers, roof rack with accessories and full size spare and I modded it for better MPG but got HP and torque as she dynos at 330HP. I hope this info helps you guys mod your 4.2 vortex for noticeable gains.
    UPDATE: PCMFORLESS hooked me up with a ECM upgrade and if you guys haven't done it, it's so worth the time and money. The new mod lowers OD rpms about 400 so less kickdown on rolling hills and gives about 10-14hp and 1-3mpg, as well as better throttle response, drivability, and more pep off the line.
    The loaner program works well if your TB is a daily driver. They send you one and the install is easy, mail yours back and then when they finish programming it, install your ECM and ship the loaner back. You'll get your deposit of around 80 bucks back to ya.

      Hey man, I’m looking at doing some upgrades on my 2005 trailblazer LT, I’ve got the lighter one XD. Anyways, i want to do what you just explained. Should i get the k&n 77 series or 57? I would assume 57 would give more hp bc it isn’t metal but i have no clue. I’m 50/50 on both. And does removing the vortec box make a significant difference rather than leaving it on? I think i want to try it the way you explained as it just seems better logically. And thanks for the flow master tip! I want to pair that with a cherry bomb muffler but I can’t figure which size I should get. I don’t know the difference :/

      @@ultimatewintergamer2331 Glad you asked! I went with the 77 and it looks better than the plastic and I think the HP is the same if not off either way 1 or 2 (shrug) Gotta remove the box as the throttle body spacer does a better job than the box in acceleration. Definitely go with the Flowmaster 40 Pro. I assure you that you won't regret it as I tried a few others including cat back and those put me in the "asshole" neighbor list leaving for work at 5am lol! Maybe try Borla when I can afford to play with it. I'm going to try to post a video on everything when I get time including the massive midrange that turns heads.

    This is something that i salute also consider building a box for the cai & closing off with a air tube for it. Better airflow for cheap.

    If you are just looking for better sound, remove the resonator and go straight to rear from the muffler with a nice tip.

    Hey, i got an idea! Why don't you just remove the cover off the air filter, replace the OEM filter with a K&N AIr filter? Viola! You're done!

    Not every after market air intake is a "cold air intake", these intakes aren't even marketed as "cold air", this style of intake is called a "Short Ram" Intake, not "Cold Air". To be a Cold Air intake it has to extend beyond the engine bay and get air thats not impacted by the engine/radiator, that shield helps stop some of the engine heat, but still not a "cold air".
    FYI that "shield" is part of the K&N Short Ram Intake kit that completely eliminates the resonator that says "4200" and is a continuous tube from air filter to throttle body.

      You will be fighting the pcm since it will notice the change, it will force its self to factory settings. I did the modifications simply because the sound and I just wanted a spacer.

    Sounds great, looks more powerful at higher speeds, but what are the long term effects of the modification? Can this mod. Cause damage to engine at all?

    • @hearttoengine9044
      @hearttoengine9044  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Sorry for the late reply, Any modification done to increase horsepower will result in some type of issues from reliability to fuel consumption. The problem here is the pod filter it will never filter as the oem. Which means a few particles will get by. Now the pcm will try to correct the fuel going into the cylinder because of more air. These are two type of problems.

      supposed to increase turbulence and add preasure to the cylinders. makes it sound different and stretches out the shift spacing so they say. increase in throttle response is another possible outcome.

    Hello Heart to Engine did you have to tune it afterwards i have a 2003 Trailblazer LS with a vortec intake with air filter and box. It cost around $280 but its for 2006-2008 but it still fit????

    • @hearttoengine9044
      @hearttoengine9044  ปีที่แล้ว

      You don't need to tune it, I mean you can but i wouldn't since the pcm will do it for you. just enjoy the cold air intake how it is. I believe you are going to have issues with the MAP sensor since it's a different size from the 03s.

    This is all BS. No way any of this crap helps. I bet my stock 2007 4.2 Trailblazer with 245K will run with you all day. Big ass waste of money, just like most other "bolt-on" mods.......useless. A fresh set of coils and plugs will help more than anything, and a clean "stock" air filter. The stock air filter on these vehicles is huge and allow much more airflow that that garbage on this video. Nice video editing though, props for that at least.

      Not only that but eliminating the airbox not good. It has a snout that gets cooler air while in motion. This setup is pulling in hot underhood air.
