    • @LousyFacelift
      @LousyFacelift  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, incredibly useful! On some drummies you have to select a 1/32 scale just to get a tiny little roll somewhere and that means half your pattern is basically wasted just for that.

    Love your videos! Tell me, did you do the firmware update, and if so do you now do note repeats with the record/trigger buttons, or do you still program them with the settings/repeat combination like in this video?

    • @LousyFacelift
      @LousyFacelift  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think I'm on the latest version but only tried the realtime repeats once so far, just to see how it works. I still prefer placing them via the step keys. Thanks a lot for watching and for the nice comment!

    • @reardondearborn
      @reardondearborn ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LousyFacelift i figured you would say that. It isn't very precise the updated way - you end up adding repeats to multiple steps by accident. What version are you running, do you know? Thanks for the quick reply...

    • @LousyFacelift
      @LousyFacelift  ปีที่แล้ว

      Must admit I don't even know the exact version but yes, my experience with the realtime method was quite similar. And it's a bit strange Behringer left out the odd number hits per step... what about three? 🤔🧐

    Hi, me again. Maybe you can help. I'm trying my hardest to program a pattern chain, but sometimes it plays the first pattern 2 times, sometimes 4 times, sometimes 3 times, and it's set to 5 repeats. It does whatever it wants to do. Any idea what i might be doing wrong? The rest of the chain seems to work, it's just temperamental on the first pattern.

    Do you prefer this or the TR8? I am starting to really get back into the TR8 again. Using the 606 with 727 with 808 is really nice.

    • @LousyFacelift

      If your looking only for 808 sounds, the RD 8 sounds better and its sequencer is more flexible.

      Jaha, da sagst Du was... Erstmal danke für den Kommentar! Habe mich auch manchmal schon gefragt, ob Deutsch nicht entspannter wäre aber dann würde ich wahrscheinlich nicht mehr beides machen können, also Deutsch und Englisch und das ist mir dann wahrscheinlich schnell zu viel. Ich bin inhaltlich zur RD-8 offen für Fragen, also hier in den Kommentaren, da bitte immer gerne Deutsch! 🤓👍

      Ich hab nur bemerkt das deutsche Beiträge eher selten sind, aber wenn sie gut sind, sehr gut besucht werden, gerade von Anfängern, die auch nicht unbedingt so fit sind im englischen. Wer sucht nach Anleitungen, oft Anfänger wie ich.
      Alles eine Frage der Zielgruppe. Beides wäre too much, klar!

    For using the RD-8 to control external synths I have two questions: 1. Does the note repeat and Step repeat pass onto midi to create rolls and repeats ? 2: Does it pass along the note number as a key hit to a synthesizer ? Thus you could combine note numbers to create chords. Thank you.

    • @VersatileRecords
      @VersatileRecords 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      good question

    • @LousyFacelift
      @LousyFacelift  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      YourBestChess Now Wow, I didn't expect that kind of question and I must admit I haven't tried this out so I cannot tell you exactly how to do this but I assume that it is possible. The note numbers for each instrument are defined in the Map page and you have eleven instrument parts that can play simultaneously so it should be possible to control eleven notes of an external device going MIDI out of the RD-8. I'm pretty sure the repeat commands will be ignored though because they are not really note messages, meaning they probably don't have their individual trigger commands.

    Can you create this beat on a Tr 8 cause I have the Tr 8s machine that I use. I really love this beat

    • @LousyFacelift
      @LousyFacelift  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, the same beat can be programmed with these boxes, too. The only thing that's a bit special with this type of beat is the snare which is always placed on "three" (the third downbeat) which is step 9 in a sixteen step sequence. In a backbeat pattern it's placed on "two" and "four" which means steps five and 13.

    Any help with the autofill will be appreciated

    • @LousyFacelift
      @LousyFacelift  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can program patterns 13 - 16 as fill in patterns or drum breaks and trigger them for only one go before automatically switching over to the previous pattern again. So let's say you've programmed pattern three as your main beat that's repeated over and over and pattern 13 as a fill in. While playing back pattern three you can hold down SETTINGS and select pad 13. After reaching the end of pattern three the RD 8 switches over to pattern 13 but instead of playing it back repeatedly it will play it only once and switch over to pattern three again without the need to re-select it first. Not holding down SETTINGS will let you use patterns 13 - 16 just like regular patterns.

    Hello ! Can the rd8 do unquantize recording? Can it also have different step size per track? Cool review

    • @LousyFacelift
      @LousyFacelift  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No - for both questions. Everything is quantized like in the TR-808. Changing the step size while writing a pattern also changes the notes that have already been placed.
