Take care my unmet local friend thank you for being my internet riding buddy. Maybe we'll see each other on the road sometime
Hey Dork, I have enjoyed watching your videos. As an overweight new 55 year old rider for the first time, the information you have put out helped me purchase the right bike for me (Honda CRF250L), you helped me save a ton of money on what type of protective gear I should be looking for and I've purchased the same types of accessories you suggested and have been just as pleased as you with those purchases (Giant Loop/etc). I trusted both your opinions and suggestions and you did not let me down and for that I thank you.
im just sad i cant get a Grom in my country. its amasing what you have done with yours! and your 7 reasons why, just show the proper spirit of a true adventure biker!!!! now i really feel like taking my 110 cc chinese copy of a honda wave and make it the craziest dual sporter i can imagine!!!!
Just picked up 2023 grom . Today I was getting 124 mpg Had it up in the woods with stock tires . Went pretty good on the gravel roads.. only 215 miles on it still breaking it in but had a lot of fun. There's a whole new world out there at 50 mph..
A fellow nut job. Brilliant.I'm 62 years old and just buying my first grom. I've owned adventure bikes but these look too much fun to ignore so my Grom will head to the hills whenever the feeling takes me.

I just got back from riding the Alpine Loop on a KLR, and I can assure you I would have had just as much fun on a grom! Keep doing what you enjoy my dude.
I get it! I also have a Grom as a third bike and absolutely love it. You either get it or you don’t. I even ride mine on the Highway sometimes. I live in the French Alps and love scratching around the mountain roads on the Grom. I also enjoy hitting the off road trails from time to time, especially in spring and autumn when the mountains are deserted. In fact I had a set of Maxxis knobbies delivered today so that I can do more off road. Yes, it’s slow, yes the suspension is terrible but it’s just so much fun and not intimidating to other users of the mountains. It’s cheap to own and run too. What’s not to like! I doubt I will ever sell my Grom
Bought a used (882 on the ODO) 2018 125A off of Craigslist. Fully stock (IOW, no fool screwed it up), showroom condition. $2700. This 77 year old is absolutely delighted with it. I have smiles/miles with my Kawi Ninja 400, now I also have giggles/mile with the Grom.
I love ALL bikes….. but when you say Adventure bike it means something to most of us in the community. The Grom is not an Adv bike it’s a bike you had an adventure on. And it was good fun to watch. Proves you can do a lot with a little. May I suggest a budget build of an old dl650??? A real adventure bike that can take you around the world. Thanks for your hard work it shows!
In the day of ten thousand dollar plus dual sports, and twenty thousand dollar plus ADV bikes, why not prove you can do it all on the cheap? If I were going to do it, I think I’d use a Honda Hunter Cub, though.
I think this is such a FUN idea!!! I fully support you on this, Sir Dork!! I have great memories of riding small Honda bikes in my youth, and truth be told, they remain some of my favorite riding experiences. It's simply a matter os scale. You can Hillclimb on a 200hp machine with an extended swingarm, or you can Hillclimb on a Honda 50. Both, in a way, give you the same sense of challenge; Can I navigate *this* bike up *that* hill. And the 50 is somehow more fun; less risk, but still a fun technical task. So YES!! I am SO with you on the mental FUN factor. Pushing a small bike is FUN. I don't care what disdain others might have, I think it's fun. Thanks for this video. I'm gonna push it out to friends, and try to get a small group of us doing this. And as you know, the 2022 machine has 5 gears now and a bit more top speed, which makes it reasonable on a 55 mph 2-laner if ya hafta.
I do have an opinion, DO what YOU want, what is entertaining and funny is personal. I also understand the views deal ($) My point is you are well spoken, bravo teaching, entertaining me and a crud load of others! I just started training my kid to heard one of our TDubs. He is short and inseam challenged. He is doin great! Great bikes so far. I've taken a huge break from riding, due to the risk, 24 years. I'm 57 years, but not old. TDubs feel fantastic for low speed, and will do 65 "pinned and tucked", but road bike not. Living where we do it works, but JUST. 2021 TENERE 700 ordered. So pumped. English
Idea: Viewers adventure Grom winter build off with a meetup / show and tell in the Spring. I'd be game, I've got one in progress. :) I've camped off a 50CC Puch moped back in the day.
It is to bad you have to justify the Adventure Grom ! I love it for all the same reasons you do and especially because you think it’s hilarious and do it for yourself to have fun on. Living life brother !
All right man I get it. Adventure Grom is funny. But I think I nailed it in the survey the other day. Sell that thing and get a dual sport! Oh hey! Almost 29,000 subscribers! What's it been a month since you hit 25,000?
Hey Dork😁 I totally get it and good on ya for getting out there and just doing it on the grom. Anyone can do it on a GS, that’s the whole point of going the other way. I’ve got my road bike (CBR600RR) that I love, but thanks to you I’m searching for a CB500X to start having my own adventures. At first I questioned whether the CB would do the job but you’ve proven that you don’t need a (big) bike to get out there and have fun. Love the videos champion, keep em coming.. Greetings from Australia 🇦🇺
Adding to the below txt, damn good job with the content! Thank you so much for the hard work! Also, the occasional B roll catch of MY home town is super cool. Very best of luck, the TH-cam is a fickle beast. Hope to see ya on the trail.
I'm getting a new grom from the dealer in a few weeks, as my first bike! I'm so excited!!! I might later get some 50/50 tires and hit the trails a little bit till i get an adventure bike/dual sport like the honda cb500x I got my eyes on, that i can't afford yet! 😂
Hello, Just found your channel. Happy to see another adventure Grom. I'm in Australia did 4700 mile trip last year carrying all my camping gear etc. Going to do longer trip next year to the Australian outback. I have more sensible bikes i could use but where's the fun in that.
Myself and a mate have groms, we absolutely love them. I drive bdoubles for a living here in Australia .. Guess what my daily is 😁😉 Loving your vids mate, keep them rolling in 🤙
I have a '17 DRZ and a '95 TW im currently fixing up the TW to put it back into service its a fun bike. New fork seals, triple tree bearings, heavier fork springs, new grips, 2 inch bar riser. A TW adv build would be fun to watch.
I've enjoyed the videos with the Grom. I would say keep it for a bit longer and have some more fun with it. When Little Dork is closer to license, I agree it might be good to use it towards something for her.
Don't listen to the naysayers, with a few simple modifications to help you along (in my case better suspension, more comfy seat, taller bars, aggressive tires, and some luggage racks) they can actually be made into a reasonably capable bike that will go anywhere a big adv bike will go. I've got over 60,000 km on mine over the last 5 years here in Australia and it's been on some of my countries most iconic trails in every condition from tropical water crossings dodging crocodiles, must mountains fill of ice and snow, desserts and outback trails too
I’m enjoying the Grom videos. As you say, I just looks fun. I bought a 2021 KLX300 to replace my 1986 KLR250 (which is a great bike) because after a hip replacement, I’m not supposed to be kick starting a bike. That gave me the excuse I needed to get my new KLX300. However, my wife used to ride, but she doesn’t anymore. We’re nearing retirement and plan to travel with a travel trailer. I know she’s fine with me riding alone, but the Grom makes me wonder if it might entice her to ride some with me. Thanks for the videos.
i wanna buy a honda grom and do this to it because im very small and any bike over 125cc is too much for me. this bike is one of the only smaller street legal bikes i trust and im reakky excited to work on it
This bike is awesome. Sell it and get a CSC RX-3 or RX-4!!! Cheap and growing in popularity. I picked up an RX-3 for $2,400 with full ADV kit. I take that thing everywhere. Would be cool to see someone do a series on one of those bikes and the RX-3 is the perfect beginner bike.
who cares what others have to say when it comes to whatever your vision may be! i enjoy things that are not of the norm. i like seeing people not fall inline with the "rules" of this carbon copy, opinionated society! thanks for sharing because i do have my eye on a Grom! safe travels!🙏🏽🤗
I have a feeling if you keep the titles geared more towards adventure riding/camping and just ride the Adv grom you will keep the views and still get to enjoy the grom. It looks like a fun bike. Maybe just mention you are going out on the grom this time and not focus on it too much if it kills your views.
I think this is cool, just so you can go anywhere you want and have storage space to carry a lot of what you would want to bring on these excursions. Even just to go shopping and not have to carry everything in your backpack.
I agree with so many other comments in that if you enjoy the Grom and want to film it, do it! It’s your channel. As for me, I’m not into it. I look for duel sport and ADV bikes. I think these little things are hilarious and probably fun to be on but not my game.
I 100% understand this build, I'm surprised you even have to explain this. It looks like a ton of fun, and above everything else you have a vision that you needed to bring into creation. In terms why a sane person would actually adventure on this, I have a friend who rode North and South America on a Super Cub C90 and the crossover advantages are: - easy parts availability for small bore bikes - less expensive/flashy bike makes you more approachable by all the nice people you'll encounter - lighter for moving around not just on trails but on the slippery wet tiles in the confines of hostels - respect from riders of bigger bikes - since you have to go slower, you'll see more stuff and be forced to interact with more people Still can't come up with a catchy name for this though. Afithird Twin? Afifthrica Single?
Maybe I should be more specific, I bought a brand new 2022 Grom cash paid for. I already have maxis tires on it. I am waiting for my barkbusters and paini bars and engine crash bars to ship. Also my engine guard has been purchased. My plan is to cross the country with this bike. From coast to coast
I get it, fun is fun but you do need the ad revenue now. I get that too. I personally think the Adventure Grom is Hilarious and Love watching it. I wonder how many Beer cans you can fit on the grom? Blockhead got 85 in his bagger, I got 110 in my Vaquero. My vid got 209 veiws in 2 days with only 9 subscribers. Blockhead got 20k views in 1 week with 395k subscribers.
Adventure Grom was funny like trail 90 adventures meets Wall-E, but we all know Dork went the right direction. It would’ve taken a lot of physical comedy to keep it going and even then it’s got a shelf life that CT90/CT110 doesn’t.😂
Do a big bore kit on the grom. Give it more power and it will be highway capable. And since you have 2 years until lil can legally street ride it you have time to gain the skill required to do the install. If you feel you are not capable. Just a thought...
Love your channel but you are wrong saying the from is essentially a scooter! Scooters have automatic transmissions and don’t compare at all to the mini motos, I have two scooters , a kymco super 8 and a Honda forza and a my mini is a 2017 kawaski zpro , there is no comparison! But love your channel and I am a sub , I just put a set of duel sport tires on mine this week , and it looks awesome
I’m almost 66, had a CRF300L. 30” inseam and a tall top heavy bike. I would come to a stop, the front would spring back, feet off the ground, vertigo and over I go! I just didn’t feel comfortable or safe so I sold it. Went back to the dealer, sat on a grom, flat feet on the ground and rode away into the sunset. I LOVE this mini-motto! It gets me anywhere I want to go, a 45km commute to work either hwy or back roads. I have taken both and much prefer the back roads! It takes me exactly 45 minutes either way and there is very little traffic and no a$$holes on the back roads! My Grom is light, I can push it uphill without breaking a sweat, mount it easily just like a bicycle with the lean’n’swing leg over the seat. If in a tight spot the back is super easy to lift and swing away. I have added T-Rex engine guards, skid plate, LED driving lights, smoked windshield, made my own rear rack, INNOVV K5 camera system,GARMIN GPS and phone holder, commercial truck LED stop/turn/tail lights…and the list goes on! The Mrs has a Ruckus and we have an absolute blast! Both these bikes take us all over the forestry roads on Vancouver Island in a fun and safe way. We both get big smiles, waves and thumbs up wherever we go!👍🍺🇨🇦
I was getting my Grom ready for exploring and off roading. But the suspension is crap, and it doesn't have enough power to get me where I need to go. I'm going to sell soon and get either a klx250 or a mt07 for better highway riding.
I personally hold a grudge against the geriatric TW200 that people want too much money for in my opinion. I would think something like the XT250 or KLX230 would make far superior options as far as beginner ADV bikes go.
To each his own right? Sounds like fun. Hobbies are for keeping us out of trouble and doing something productive. I spent most of my adult life sitting in bars with a bike in the parking lot and many times I couldn't even ride it home. Bar hoppers. It's was not productive. This is productive. Good job man. I am a city person and I have an adventure bike so I will not be doing this build, but for some this is just what the doctor ordered.
I clicked like just because I like to support your channel but zero interest in the Grom, sorry buddy. Would like to see that Africa Twin get out and do longer trips on the BDR's. I think you are great and will tune in even if it's a Grom hahahahaha.
How would you rate the reliability bro? I’m looking to buy one in 2 weeks and I’m going to use it as a daily, a first bike, as well as exploring the world. Curious about long range trips etc?? Thankyou DORK!! 👑🔥🙏
Why did you go camping on a grom? Because you can 😩 it also gave you some new content. Been thinking about a TW 200 for Lil Dork when she is 16. I think the top speed is 55. Might be difficult to go very far and Moto camp
Your bike build was original & the key word is “FUN”. Why not, life is short! 😀 (I had one, lots of fun, sold it).
Fun is pretty important
Everyone has their opinion especially online. So here's my opinion - JUSIFY NOTHING! It's your decision, your $$, your channel. Do what you want and create the content that you want to create when you want to create it. If people like it great, if they don't it's their problem. The entire point of riding in my opinion is to have fun and enjoy life.
Every where we RV camp I now see dual sported groms..you have become part of a movement...crazy!
Adventure grom is hilarious in the same way that road racing a Mini Cooper was in the late 1970's
Is it dumb? Probably. Is it fun? Absolutely! I don't care how experienced you are, small bikes are a blast.
I personally have enjoyed this series. I admit when you first did it I was scratching my head, then as you modded and built it for motocamping. As you have progressed I have become impressed with not only what you have done but with what it is actually capable of. I have ridden a Grom it was the bike that Team Oregon put me on for the intermediate rider course that got me my endorsement back after a 25 year break. So even though i would not choose the Grom for my everyday I have a soft spot for them. Just an fyi, I am a touring slab rider ('93 GL1500 SE) that wishes I was still young and capable enough to go adventure riding. I will gladly watch anything you want to try on your "Adventure Grom" you have proven that in the right circumstance it is a capable off road scooter.
Today I was getting 124 mpg
Had it up in the woods with stock tires .
Why? Why not 👍🏻
I really enjoyed the Adventure Grom build and think it’s awesome!
Appreciate that your doing things “outside the box”.
Why do what everyone else is doing?
Cheers buddy!
PS: I think you need to start adding that hand gesture during the “ahhhhh thank you” 🤣🤣
Awesome. You should take a pic of the grom fully loaded and make a t shirt. ; )
It's AWESOME . Love doing everything with a small , light , motorcycle.
Please continue. It's really , really , fun , especially moto camping
Thanks again for another great video.

Thanks for watching!
I just got back from riding the Alpine Loop on a KLR, and I can assure you I would have had just as much fun on a grom! Keep doing what you enjoy my dude.
Were you referring to the Utah Alpine Loop?
@@nathanielotto258 the Colorado Alpine Loop. Not saying it would be an easy ascent, but fun for sure...
Cool man, totally get it. You summed up the small bike appeal perfectly. . Same idea as taking a Super Cub on a road trip. Awesome

Great video! I bought my daughter a Grom and am about to buy two more for my wife and I to take camping. You’ve inspired us!
I was scrollin through all your videos and this one stopped me dead in my tracks. This is so funny and cool i just might copy you.

💯😌

I 100% understand this build, I'm surprised you even have to explain this. It looks like a ton of fun, and above everything else you have a vision that you needed to bring into creation.
In terms why a sane person would actually adventure on this, I have a friend who rode North and South America on a Super Cub C90 and the crossover advantages are:
- easy parts availability for small bore bikes
- less expensive/flashy bike makes you more approachable by all the nice people you'll encounter
- lighter for moving around not just on trails but on the slippery wet tiles in the confines of hostels
- respect from riders of bigger bikes
- since you have to go slower, you'll see more stuff and be forced to interact with more people
Still can't come up with a catchy name for this though. Afithird Twin? Afifthrica Single?
That name difficulty is why I eventually just settled on Adventure Grom 😂
@@DorkintheRoad So it's settled! Call it the Hondadgromture. Oh but I just thought of Africa Grin.
If you wanted a "final flourish" for the Grom, perhaps a BDR section?
I get it, fun is fun but you do need the ad revenue now. I get that too.
I personally think the Adventure Grom is Hilarious and Love watching it.
I wonder how many Beer cans you can fit on the grom? Blockhead got 85 in his bagger, I got 110 in my Vaquero. My vid got 209 veiws in 2 days with only 9 subscribers. Blockhead got 20k views in 1 week with 395k subscribers.
sneak clips of you riding the grom in some other videos and maybe people is going to start realising how much fun it is :p
Adventure Grom was funny like trail 90 adventures meets
Wall-E, but we all know Dork went the right direction. It would’ve taken a lot of physical comedy to keep it going and even then it’s got a shelf life that CT90/CT110 doesn’t.😂
I get it. Thanks for the video.
Do a big bore kit on the grom. Give it more power and it will be highway capable. And since you have 2 years until lil can legally street ride it you have time to gain the skill required to do the install. If you feel you are not capable. Just a thought...
10:30 dude is adventuring the hell out of that poor grom.
I would like to see the adventure grom jump the Snake River Canyon. But you must also obtain red, white, and blue leathers to do so.
I think a pair of Kiwis that did the TAT on some adventure groms a year or so back.
Good vid bud!
Nice Vid. A++
Love your channel but you are wrong saying the from is essentially a scooter!
Entertaining for us too.
We both get big smiles, waves and thumbs up wherever we go!👍🍺🇨🇦
It's been fun to watch, but I think we all know how this is going to end.
I like it. Been thinking of putting hybrid tires on my Grom 2024.
great video
Go the Grom 🤘
I thought you were prepping the ADV Grom for the TAT?????
You never know what the future might hold
@@DorkintheRoad 😁🤣😂
I’m down for that trip
I was getting my Grom ready for exploring and off roading. But the suspension is crap, and it doesn't have enough power to get me where I need to go. I'm going to sell soon and get either a klx250 or a mt07 for better highway riding.
I personally hold a grudge against the geriatric TW200 that people want too much money for in my opinion. I would think something like the XT250 or KLX230 would make far superior options as far as beginner ADV bikes go.
This is awesome. I just got a Grom and want to do something similar. Did you ever feel like you needed a skid plate?
In other words, “because it’s fun!” (I’d love to hear your thoughts on a Grom vs a CT125.)
I'd love to ride a CT125
I’m so doing this as well
To each his own right? Sounds like fun. Hobbies are for keeping us out of trouble and doing something productive. I spent most of my adult life sitting in bars with a bike in the parking lot and many times I couldn't even ride it home. Bar hoppers. It's was not productive. This is productive. Good job man. I am a city person and I have an adventure bike so I will not be doing this build, but for some this is just what the doctor ordered.
Are you in Oregon?
I’m seeing a tw200 in your future or oooh a KTM freeride
I clicked like just because I like to support your channel but zero interest in the Grom, sorry buddy. Would like to see that Africa Twin get out and do longer trips on the BDR's. I think you are great and will tune in even if it's a Grom hahahahaha.
I very much appreciate the support!
Why not an adventure Monkey? Weight?
Price, mostly. My Grom cost half as much
How would you rate the reliability bro?
I’m looking to buy one in 2 weeks and I’m going to use it as a daily, a first bike, as well as exploring the world. Curious about long range trips etc??
Thankyou DORK!! 👑🔥🙏
Keep the adv Grom!!
Alright next step: make it better than purpose built bikes. I wanna see you jack that suspension a little 😁😁😁
The best part is that it's funny 🤣
It's fun to build something for a purpose that it wasn't really meant for.
Pray tell, where are those beautiful trees and mountains??
I've ridden a grom a few times and 125s just don't do it for me. If they did a 250 grom, that would probably be fun for me.
Why did you go camping on a grom? Because you can 😩 it also gave you some new content. Been thinking about a TW 200 for Lil Dork when she is 16. I think the top speed is 55. Might be difficult to go very far and Moto camp
We could easily get to most of my favorite spots at 55mph. Tons a great places to go within an hour or two. No freeway required most of the time.
Ummm...are you getting snow at high altitude already? Ugh...UGH!
That video is from last winter. I originally posted it as as short but not many saw it so it seemed appropriate to include as an extra for this vid
@@DorkintheRoad Oh, thank goodness. Bad enough the days are getting shorter.
