Man! Been looking for a single pup Jack/Charv with a Kahler FOOOOOREVER. Reading this got me both excited that they exist and depressed I don't own one!
Proud member of a 1986 Charvel/Jackson Model 2. Mine was modified by a luthier with another mic, a combo of DiMarzio evolution + the original seymour duncan. Amazing guitar, so quick! so clean, so versatile... I've been in love with this guitar since I got it (3 years ago) Great jamming buddy! Awesome Cowboys from Hell & Megadeth's Holy Wars riffs \m/ Thanks for sharing
Something about the 80's-90's jackson stuff was sooooooooo fantastic. I'm definitely getting another. Regrettably sold mine to a guy who "customized" (destroyed) it.
Those 86 model 2s are my ideal guitar. Aka my dream guitar. However they go for $1,000+ easily. I dont have that kind of money. So im finding a cheaper Charvel and “customizing” it to be as similar to a model 2 as possible. Lets hope I dont destroy it
My first guitar was/is a 1987 Model 1 with the kahler trem. Absolutely awesome guitar, comfortable neck and just sounds great! Awesome playing man, keep it up!
I'm looking forward to buying a Charvel model 2, also from around '86 with a Kahler and J90c pickup, pretty killer axe if you ask me, and good playing too ! : D
You sure know to play the classics to PERFECTION ! Hats off! Love the axe. It was my inspiration when I made my first partscaster back in 1987 (see profile pick). No Floyd Rose for 2 reasons: nearly impossible to get one where I lived, but more importantly, the neck was only matching with a 50 mm string spacing bridge. The width of the Floyd would have brought both E strings outside of the fretboard range.
Sweet guitar..ive got a rare 1989 MIJ Charvel..only one ive seen out there like this.i had quite a few Charvels when I was a kid but this one i just picked up is unbelievable..The fastest neck ive ever played on..those MIJ in that era are comparable to the USA made at that time...if anybody hasn't tried one...I highly recommend getting your hands on one..
If after hearing that demo someone doesn't buy that Guitar, then I give up. You have to be one of a very few most fabulous "Musician-Guitarists" on the face of the earth today. Applause!
Really good playing 👍. I always wanted to get a charvel But Jackson which is somewhat cheaper are virtually the same guitar. I'll probably still get one it's like one brand I want in my collection.
Hey John. My j90c is in what looks to be the exact guitar shown in this video. Mine is a late 80's (think it's an '86-'88) Japanese made Charvel. Incredible guitar. Not sure if its basswood body? I have very little info on the guitar. I got it around 1990 when a local music store was going out of business and the Charvel was literally lying on the clearance floor with no case, along w a bunch of other guitars. It only had the bridge pup, a friend of mine routed out the neck pickup opening for me and I put in a Schaller Golden 50 pickup in the neck slot. That pup sounds great too in that guitar too. But the j90c is just magic in my Charvel. I actually tried the j90c in one of my Les Pauls and it sounded dead. Had no life at all. I was really surprised and kinda bummed. Took it out of the LP and put it back into the Charvel and got the lightening back! I've been swapping around a lot of pickups lately in some of my guitars, and one thing I've found is that a pickup can sound very, very different installed in various guitars. I didn't realize that until I tried it myself. The j90c rules for 80's rock tones, or any rock tones for that matter. It's just got a perfectly balanced EQ, plenty of mids for solos, and incredible rich sustain and harmonics....in the Charvel anyways! The Jackson j90c, Gibson T-Top, and Seymour Duncan JB are my all time fav bridge pups. Cheers! Dan
I'm building now model 2 limited edition from 1986 and can't wait to get playing whit it! But your friend lied to you because -86 model 2 came with kahler 2520 and later in -87 and -88 with Jackson JT9 tremolo. So that's probably an 87 or 88.. But still an awesome guitar!!
I like the guitar I personally dont own one I own an 86 baretta and I dig the vintage 80's guitar vibe but it sounds really good. I have a question how do you do the part at 0:47 I would like to learn that whole part. Could you explain cuz it looks like your playing an open then say in example hitting the 12th then sliding down to the 5th or 7th? Or open l thirf to 12th and down to 5th idk.. but could you explain.
I have a guitar almost identical that I kinda frankenstiened out and no it doesn't look like eddie van halen guitar its my own frankenstien recipie very good guitars these are amazing necks gor playability
It's a Jackson p90c humbucker. FWIU it's a hot pickup so I'm not going to bother replacing it. I plan on just blocking the tremolo. I'm not skilled enough to start using that and tuning stability is more important.
@@the_cosmic_cowboy12 Fusions are Dinky body, basswood, short scale, made in Japan 1989-1995. I have a Jackson USA SL1 and I'd rather play my 1991 (I think) Jackson Professional Fusion Standard. Thin necks, thinner than Ibanez Wizard. All the Professional ones are what we are talking about. I just like the short scale axes, and these are EXCELLENT. You can not get a new short scale Jackson or Charvel as far as I know:) Just bought a really NICE Charvel Fusion Deluxe. When I got it it was taken apart with the neck off but the strings still on it and the 2nd string was bent on a 90 degree.. But I had to hear it, so this is the first thing I did. It is through my Headrush with the Looper. But the pups really chime. J85 and J200 for the singles. www.waynemcmichael.com/music/Ohoopee%20Days.mp3
@@the_cosmic_cowboy12 There used to be a site like this for Jackson but it is gone, but here is a good link for Charvel Japanese imports. charvelusa.com/models.html
Awesome guitar. Had the same in 1985 with a kahler bridge and plyed it over an JCM800 marshall head....killer sound!
Man! Been looking for a single pup Jack/Charv with a Kahler FOOOOOREVER. Reading this got me both excited that they exist and depressed I don't own one!
I had the same guitar in dark blue....With the kahler
Well your time definitely shows man! Your playing inspires me to practice even more!!
Many months since I last saw this. Still loving it.

+buickpimp69 I have seen some home "customized" Charvel's & Jackson's and wince every time I hear about one.

Hey man, great playing!! And the guitar is a solid bunch of rocking sound in the hands it deserves \m/

Nice! I have this guitar too. My brother bought it new but he gave it to me because he never played. Love it. Had it signed by Jake E Lee in June...

My first guitar was an 86 Charvel 1A, almost the same as this. I miss that guitar everyday. Heaviest guitar I've ever held
I have this guitar. Still one of my favourites.
Fantastic playing!
I'm pretty sure it has not been said enough on these comments.....dude you are a "smokin" guitar player , I bow and tip my neck to you...

Very good my friend
It would be nice to give kudos to your style. Very much Reb Beach like. You do it well. Congrats
Nice playing! I've got a late 80's Charvel that looks just like that guitar. The Jackson J-90C is an unbelievable bridge pickup!!!
I,m putting a J 90c in a Godin Freeway,,,see how it sounds, What gtr is your j90c in? out of curiousity.

Its "Waves" by Guthrie Govan! You can find the tabs online... Its really hard to explain! :P
Duude, I have the EXACT same guitar except I beefed it up with an EMG 81. It is definitely my favorite guitar out of my entire arsenal.
They are beautiful!
Nice sound.
Steve vai, Dimebag Darrell, Megadeth. Amazing sound, Yeah!
Alright Seán! Using a Pod X3 Live. Think its emulating a Marshall JCM 800 through a Marshall 1980A cab in this clip.
Everything on this one is Jackson too!
Thank you Jake, I'm not too sure probably around 13+ years now I think!
awesome such great gtrs model 2s

Or he possibly replaced the 2520 with a Kahler Spyder or Killer trem, which was really popular back in the day to do.
Great guitar, that one has the floyd too....
Satchmo lives!
I have the same exact guitar
Was that thing totally rebuilt and finished when this was filmed? Looks damn near new!
Killer Axe Dude & Sweet Jam my Man! Wasn't this Axe for Sale @ one time? If it was I am sure it's been gone for awhile now...right? \m/

Thumbs up for the fingers! ;)

I have a guitar almost identical that I kinda frankenstiened out and no it doesn't look like eddie van halen guitar its my own frankenstien recipie very good guitars these are amazing necks gor playability
What are the specs on the stock pickup? I'm thinking about replacing it with a DM Super Distortion.
Mine is white also and fading nicely but it's a model lower than the one in the video. Mine has a maple neck and a standard fender style trem.
+Vince James I can't recall, the guitar was a friends which was sold years ago! Sorry!
Thanks for your response. I found the information online.
It's a Jackson p90c humbucker. FWIU it's a hot pickup so I'm not going to bother replacing it. I plan on just blocking the tremolo. I'm not skilled enough to start using that and tuning stability is more important.
