    This is a brilliant video. I've just got the 611G and it's very similar to this model. It hasnt been used for about 20 tears and is bone dry but VERY clean and nothing is jammed so i have sewing machine oil but what grease can I use on the gears with what I can buy in UK? Any ideas please? would be very useful

      Use the most ordinary workshop grease. It's hard to buy a small package, maybe a you friend has a one teaspoon 🙂

      Silly question. Once I put grease on the gears and then oil everywhere else, can I just start to sew? I dont want to break it by not doing something fundamental after all this time. I've ordered some singer oil and grease which should come soon. Once done, should I open ip the 2 button foot pedal and check it's not shifted or anything? Does it need any grease anywhere? It is all in such amazing condition from 1965 it seems too good to be true. Thanks for responding. I'm 64 year old woman who just wants to sew 👍🤞🤗

      After detailed lubrication, you should immediately do the sewing, BUT if you have extensively lubricated the assembly where the needle is some oil may fall on the fabric. Have a little piece of cotton cloth on hand and wipe it occasionally with.
      Do not open the foot controls, do not lubricate anything there, except if there is a strange sound (creaking) and if it bothers you, in principle, do not lubricate the control pedal.
      Big greetings to you from Bosnia. 🙂

      Hi. I have an issue that I'm hoping you might help me with. As I said my machine is the singer 611G. I followed your video and greased and oiled and cleaned. All back together and forward stitching is lovely, BUT it wont sew in reverse. I see it can be broken gears but I can honestly say the gears i can see are all pristine so i don't see any reason to believe that a gear somewhere might be broken. They were just dry.. The machine was all moving freely before i oiled and greased as far as I could see although I didn't sew with it. Do you have any way to work out what it might be? I managed to get the top and bottom off, and the acrylic front off too so was able to grease and oil everything. Any help would be appreciated. It sees a really big and really small stitches so feed digs are working fine going forward.
      Many thanks

    Just bough a singer 632 not used for over 20 years so this will be my first step. Never used a sawing machine in my life.... 🙂

      So you are a total beginner, very cautiously and slowly, to begin with a little practice without a thread and a needle to get the routine of maintaining speed, later with a needle and with increased caution, read this post:

      Thank for good advises and link, that sounds as a smart approach, especially without the needle... I just don't want that through my fingernail,,,,, 🙂

      Just started dismantling and it's very similar to your video.
      Completed machinery, but I got some technical skills luckily.
      Thank's again and best wishes from Norway 🙂

      I don't want to scare you, but I know cases where the needle pierced the bone on the finger, just slowly, carefully and everything will be ok.
      I don't even remember when I started sewing, it was a long time ago, I'm a man by the way, in my time it was strange, sewing was considered exclusively women's work 😃
      Best regards to you from Bosnia. linktr.ee/MasinskiKutak

    Very instructive, indeed. My daughter-in-love's 677G is very similar. They were nice machines. Thank you for the upload!

    Also I cant undo the screw that takes the plastic front off. The acrylic has a crack already where someone has possibly tried and failed to get it off. Can I still oil and grease it effectively from top and bottom? Many thanks

    Can I use WD-40 to lubricate the sewing machine parts

    • @MasinskiKutak
      @MasinskiKutak  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can use wd 40, it can't be harmful, any lubrication is better than none, it's suitable for old machines that haven't worked for a long time, I don't recommend it as a permanent lubrication solution, I advise you to buy oil for lubricating sewing machines at the first opportunity.

    Hello, I am wondering what to do about the top thread breaking. Thank you

    • @MasinskiKutak
      @MasinskiKutak  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Breaking the upper thread, it is a very common problem, the causes are many,
      most common: very high tension upper thread, old thread, poor quality thread, cheap needles of poor quality, problem on the hook for the upper thread...etc

    Why is the foot presser get too hot

    • @MasinskiKutak
      @MasinskiKutak  ปีที่แล้ว

      You might be thinking "the foot speed control gets very hot".?
      If the speed controller is original, it has a ceramic rheostat in it and heating is a normal phenomenon, especially if the machine has been running for a long time now, if it heats up so much that it cannot be held in the hand, then it is too much, you should look at the state of the motor and the capacitor in the speed controller , it may be partially short-circuited.
      NOTE: devices under electrical voltage can only be repaired by qualified personnel.
