- "Route 66" - originally recorded as "Get Your Kicks on Route 66" - is a popular rhythm and blues standard, composed in 1946 by American songwriter Bobby Troup. The lyrics follow the path of federal highway U.S. Route 66, which traversed the western two-thirds of the U.S. from Chicago, Illinois, to Los Angeles, California.

I drove it all the way from east to west, and this band's version does it justice. But don't forget the thunderstorms, the AM radio warnings about touching the barbed wire fences (which may be conducting a lighting bolt your way) and the flash floods. Even now, it's not an easy journey. But just swing with it. What a great song! What a great band! What a great singer!.
