My lespedeza has seed pods at the tips of it's branches. They are green at first but turn brown. That's when I collect them for spring. Am I halfway doing anything right? Lol. I watched your video and I've used PictureThis app to ID it. I remember it had purple flowers. I don't remember any pink. What kind of lespedeza do I have? It looks identical to yours except for the flower colors and seeds. Also, could mine be perennial? It has survived two years outside in a pot. It dies back and looks like not much more than a stick. I'm in zone 7b. I want to keep it alive and I wonder if it would tolerate being indoors over the winter. I use grow lights and get some natural light where I winter my plants. Thank you very much for your informative and interesting video. I've subscribed and look forward to learning alot more.

You might have oxalis or something similar in appearance. You can email ipm@missouri.edu photos of the plant, and we can further assist you in identifying the plant. We can then figure out how to care for it during the winter months.

Can you purchase Marion Lespedeza seed. I planted Legend probably 12 years ago and the yield the first year was phenomenal. Around 15 ton on 3 acres. It was probably waist high. Problem was it didn’t come back after that first year.

Kenneth, I am not aware of a source for Marion any more, which is very unfortunate. It's my understanding that certified seed of Marion became diluted early on and for that reason was dropped. However, Legend is very similar to it and is probably your closest option to Marion. Glad to hear you had success with it. Tim Schnakenberg

Now how do you kill it. My yard is infested. Forage? For what? Deer won't even eat it.

Annual lespedeza is an excellent forage for grazing livestock, but can be a nuisance in lawns. University of Georgia Bulletin 1395, Lespedeza Identification and Control in Turfgrass, discusses methods of controlling which you might find helpful.
