HD Drone footage of Castle Island in South Boston off of the Boston Harbor. It hosts the Fort Independence fortification since 1634. Filmed with DJI Phantom II Drone filmed at 1080P. This was taken on a beautiful day in May of 2009.

This isn't a no fly zone being so close to the airport? The only reason I ask is because I'd like to take my drone out there but am a nervous to do so.
+loopdigger1 it is a restricted height fly zone but you can fly there. I forget the hight restriction but I was able to fly over the island and the spire that they have there. 200 feet if I recall.
Did your drone tell you of the height restriction or is there a list somewhere?
The drone app told me and then the drone just refused to go any higher. I'm not sure if there is a list for this info.
Did you have issues contacting the tower at Logan?
It has to be less than 200 ft. According to state law drones in Mass can be flown in public parks given - quote: “FAA policies are observed”. I don’t imagine FAA policies are allowing anything at all in the air in path of approach that close to runway threshold in Bravo airspace. Guess is if it’s like 10-20 ft off the ground as on the video, no one even going to know. That’s like barely off the ground at all. On other hand I can easily see, pilot on final approach reporting drone at 200 ft on (or close to) its path to Tower or even worse, going around because of it. Should the later happened, might expect police intervention, possible arrest, likely police and FAA investigation worst of all, potentially extremely costly civil liability, should airline decide it wants its money back for fuel, plane used flying unnecessary extra 30 minutes.

On the one hand I'm kind of glad somebody did this because it's neat to see the fort from this perspective... But on the other this is directly in the landing path for Logan airport! As you probably realize this is VERY not legal to do nowadays. I'm not sure it was particularly wise at the time either...
It is height restricted as to where you can fly a drone, due to its proximity to the airport, but It is not completely restricted in this area. It was VERY legal for me to fly there. I cannot speak to the current rules there.

How did you fly the drone there the airport is right next to it
That area has flight restrictions in how high you can go. I didn't have to go very high to get that video, only 20 - 25 ft off the ground. So I was in compliance with the regulations.
