I think this company makes outstanding quality packs. My question is is there a line that you draw in the sand in terms of overall size for a bag of this nature? Is this bordering something that is just a bit too large for what it’s intended purposes? Thoughts?
@@neobooger Great question! I think that really depends on what you want to use it for. This sling is ~3.5L, which is pretty close to ideal for me for an EDC sling. I tend to bring at least minimal videography gear with me everywhere. As such, I think the sweet spot in the EDC category is 2 - 3 liters for me. I’d probably draw the line around 4L. The Peak Design 10L everyday sling, for instance, would be huge for EDC (unless your a photographer or using at is a backpack replacement), but it’s great as a travel sling for 1.5 bag travel. The 1733 7L Side Pack is another example. Very large for EDC, but great as a minimal backpack replacement option for short hikes. What do you think?🤔
I love the idea of a sling, but I'm never able to make it work for me. I do love seeing videos like this about smaller makers. Their ability to create these bags is amazing.
@@Duanewrites I hear you, it took me a while to come around to slings. Love buying from the smaller makers! Unfortunately, I’m not very good at staying on top of drops and/or availability. Every once in a while though, the stars align for me.
@@TheSac1122 I hear you. It’s a great sling. I love everything I have from ALPAKA though, they make great gear. I’ve got the V2 metro sling inbound right now.
@@bobporter7742 Yes it is! Literally immediately after opening it I wanted to order another one. I’d like to get one in waxed canvas. Definitely want the wing set on the next one. What options did you get?
FYI, wing set is great if you will be using it as a hip pack, but when used as a sling it does not add stability, comfort, or improve strap angles. My first Samurai had wings, my second did not.
Awesome review I have noticed I like the tubed form factor better for these larger capacity slings. With a nice shoulder pad. Like the greenroom or kargo loculus. These never seem to carry comfortable for me.
@@DaemonViews Thanks! I don’t have any of the tube type slings, but I’ve been eyeballing greenroom for a while. Although much larger, the Defy Insidious is on my short list. So many bags out there… and I want to try them all!
@@Pack_roamif you are looking at the greenroom one, also take a look at Kargo. They are very similar but the kargo one had zipped pockets inside and a cool airpods pocket on the strap, which I liked. And kargo is US based, which probably makes it easier for you.
Great review got in on todays order now the fun of deciding
Awesome! Great sling and the customization is the best part!

I absolutely dig that sling, I wish they were taking orders!
It is a really cool sling and I’m glad I squeezed an order in.
I have an alpaka sling and love it, but i really want one of these

Great Sling. I have 2 - Samurai's. One in Ultra400 Black and one in uvx40 Silver.

@@Pack_roam Both are the traditional like you have. No wings. One has the shock cord front. One has the flap. Both have orange interior.

curious what dark patch you went with?
Haven’t found one yet. Any ideas?
Let me know when you're ready to sell it!
lol. will do.
Just fomo.
Just awesome! 😃
@@PanaMaJwaaRd Will admit though… some of my bag purchases may have a fomo factor.
Americans should all get one for free if it's truly made in Ukraine.
America mostly gave them stuff we had to trash. For the actual money we gave them it was already budgeted to help foreign nations.
