    There’s two things that you found out in this test. 1: you have a strong cable. 2: which of your viewers are Ford fans and which are Massey fans

    Appreciate all positive comments from everyone. Never expected so many people to view. Open put it up to show a relation.
    Clearly everyone will know every machine has its strengths and weaknesses. Some prefer ford to massey or vice-verse. Currently we run Massey, Ford, David Brown & County. All for just messing around with. Though they all have their suited jobs.
    The 135 in the video is the hardest working one as it constantly has a 3 point linkage forklift forks on it (cannot believe we haven't broke the hydro pump yet) the ford in the video has done the turning and raking on our ground for the past 3 years with no issues.
    Cheers all for viewing

    Funny thing here is when i read the info it reminded me of how this is actually how tractorpulling started along long time ago with 2farmers bragging against eachother of how good tractor they had :) I love it and it´s def worth many thumbs up according to this video.
    Cheers and take care

    Obviously, two well matched machines. Ford, Ferguson, and Massey-Harris produced some of the finest tractors of the 20th century. Ford and Ferguson jointly made the single greatest contribution to modern agriculture, the 9N. Massey Harris was smart enough to get the use of Ferguson's name. Both great tractors, but Ford had some slick looking machines - 9N, 8N, Jubilee, PowerMaster....nice

    I occaisonally drive an old Massey 3690 Datatronic with Dyna shift at work on an airfield using a Spearhead 620 Topper, as an additional part of my job, this tractor is also used for snow clearing operations, its never broke down yet while in use, (may wish I never said that) however a friend of mine who has had 2 Joun Deere's has had nothing but trouble with them, ECU's Fuelling problems etc. Therefore I'm sold on a Massey! I also have my own tractor at home a humble International 276!

    I remember many years ago there was an article in a farming journal about two farmers, one a Ford fan, the other a Massey fan, who had an argument about which was better, The Ford 4000 or The M-F 165. To settle the argument they agreed to meet in the same field with both tractors equipped with the same 3 furrow plough. The consequence was the M-F ran rings around the Ford but to add insult to injury the Ford guy got stuck so they had to use the Massey to pull him out . The Ford guy admitted that for one thing the low ground clearance under the drawbar frame of his tractor let him down.( In all fairness we had a Massey 1100, it was a mighty good pulling tractor but run her anywhere a wet hole and you were knackered, it too had a stupidly low ground clearance) I know for a fact that under load, The 165 would certainly use less fuel per acre than a 4000.

      Intresting .. BUT i can remember as a young lad.. My fathers Ford 4600 pulling my uncles 165 across the yard in a tug of war. Both tractors would fall in to silage carting on long draws & the 4600 would outpace the 165 drawing in silage & my uncle admitted the 4600 was well able to pull away from the 165 . The 165 was traded in for a new 6610 the following year .The 4000 ,4600 & 4610 are 3 cyls.. but they still throw out more torque & a bit more horsepower than the 165,265 & 565. Anybody can get stuck on any tractor & any tractor can pull the other out.. It can come down to the traction also & the way the tractor is ballasted..A County 4000-FOUR could run rings around a 178 with a 3 furrow in the same field..

      A bit like my neighbour was telling me many years ago.. They had an IH 475 ( Perkins 62 hp) and a 574 (IH 68 hp ) But the 'smaller' hp 475 was a much better tractor, the Perk had loads more torque than The IH .I actually saw both tractors working in the same field pulling identical 3 furrow ploughs, When they both reached the same heavy spot the 475 would smoke a bit more and just plod through it whilst the 574 would fade just away! We had a Massey 168 and a an IH 674 ( On paper 66 and 78 hp respectively) The old fergie would pull grain trailers up hills where the IH would have to lose a gear, god it was gutless!.. That 168 had a good engine, We bought a Howard bigbaler and put it behind the 168 and OK she knew it was back there, but we bought it off a Ford dealer who told me that They sold one to Nostel Priory who used it behind a 4000 which to use his own words "Was coughing its guts out and shaking itself to bits pulling it about, but it made good bales" Incidentally, The 168 was a much better tractor than a 165, we had both.
      We traded The IH in for a 78 hp Renault. Now that little tractor was truly amazing, it pulled the baler without a murmur and would pull our 22 foot wide Kverneland springtine better than our 100 hp Massey! ( much to the astonishment and chagrin of my uncle who loved his old 1100 ).Previously The IH would only pull the cultivator if I took the wings off which reduced it to 14 'foot wide.
      Then silly buggers Renault 'shot themselves in the foots' soon after we bought that tractor by stopping fitting MWM engines( The same engines as Fendt used) in their tractors in favour of 'Junk Deere'

      265justy l know some farmers who said their 4000 was better than a 5000! l did hear that when The 5000 tractor came out farmers who traded their old Majors in were quite disappointed as the old Major had a far more torquey engine.

    @smokeypearl its not anything to with if it was connected to the links or not mate, you know as do others, lift the arms that'll then put weight onto the arms, yes it'll still be pulling off the draw bar, but it will give more traction. i've done it :) cheers

    I own a 30B Massy with a 34A loader ,Ford 4000&3600 and a Ford 545 backhoe. I use to own a Massy 135 with a bushhog brand loader on it. You can't go wrong with ether one but Fords seem to be better geared for plowing. Every Massy I have plowed with one gear was a little slow the next was to fast. I prefer Massy's for using a loader with the way they are built. Massy is heaver built in the front end. I can't keep from breaking the front end on ford loaders unless you have a backhoe style.

    These are tough little tractors. We bought one new when i was a kid in the mid 70s. We used it to its maximum ratings running balers up hills for several years. Then when we thought it seen its better days we used it to pull wagons and put a front end loader on it to feed cattle. lasted for years. Best $4000 bucks we ever spent

    The 135 is better in so many ways, I won a tug of war the other week with it against a 4600, smashed the other guy. It looks sleeker, has more traction, is balanced better, sounds much better and has enough torque to pull other small vintage tractor off the block, all you need is a good driver and a diff lock then your off! 135 all the way

    • @265justy
      @265justy 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not a hope . The 4600 is 20 + HP up on a 135 . Bigger engine with far more torque ..And the 4600 is a heavier tractor . If a 4600 can beat a 165 ....then a 135 is a piece if piss to it .

    • @officialhydracor7391

    • @265justy
      @265justy 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well you can tell that driver ....he was hopeless . Unless your 135 was opened up with a Turbo , 4wd & had every weight possible that could be fitted to it ..!!!

    • @officialhydracor7391
      @officialhydracor7391 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      265justy it was mainly to do with the fact that he didn't know how his diff lock worked, he just stuck it in a high gear and floored it, I pulled him along in lo range 2nd with my diff locked, I didn't have any weights at all.
