      we don't really have movie stars like arnold , jean claud, and stalone. They make movies like this often they are just B movies that go straight to streaming because they have B list actors.

    The best thing about Arnie's pure action films is that they never took themselves too seriously. Comedies like HOT SHOTS PART DEUX later went on to parody the type of over-the-top testosterone action flicks that Eighties cinema is known for, but Arnie's movies were already like self-aware parodies of themselves.

    • @NetAndyCz
      @NetAndyCz 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Yeah, Arnold wanted to do comedies, but they let him do only action movies at the time, I am pretty sure with this one he went really over the line.

    • @paulpolpiboon9535
      @paulpolpiboon9535 ปีที่แล้ว

      Arnolds movies were not parodies or comedies, they were dead serious each time, Predator is not a comedy any more than Conan the Barbarian or Commando. The comedy came when he did Twins. For action films having a sense of humor, that would've been kindergarten cop and Last action hero, and those were not comedies, they were action films with a sense of humor

    The ultimate 80's action movie. It just embraced the genre shamelessly and didn't pretend to be anything but that.
    No need for twists or turns, we know the good guy is gonna win and they go all in with that. He's unstoppable. Some incredible one-liners, an actually capable leading lady who's poc.. and she saves him instead of being just a damsel in distress.
    Plus some of the shots and editing..
    I mean that gearing up scene is perfect and Arnold shooting an M60 without a shirt on and the shot focusing on his torso is just.. chef kiss stuff.

      Not to mention the rows of mannequin "mercenaries" that just tip over when the charges go off.
      When _Commando_ was released on VHS (or was it DVD? It's been so long) the image was improperly framed, so the cable running down into Sully's pant leg while Matrix was holding him over the drop was fully visible. I mean, REALLY visible. INSULTINGLY visible.

      Not only that, but when he blows up the buildings, you can see the manakins tied to post that are supposed to be the soldiers. And by the way, claymores don't blow up buildings in that way. They're anti-personnel mines that throw out a bunch of large buckshot in one direction. But that's not really important in this movie. It's all about total destruction of the bad guys.

    Weird & random trivia:
    * In 1985 Rae Dawn Chong plays with Arnold in Commando.
    * ~15 years later Rae Dawn Chong convinced a 19-year-old Chris Pratt, whom she met at a restaurant in Hawaii where he was a waiter, to star in her one and only short movie she directs, "Cursed Part 3".
    * This was Chris Pratts very first role and sparked his interest to try to pursue the acting business.
    * Another 19 years later Chris Pratt marries Arnold daughter Katherine.
