      I’ve noticed AudioPilz does too. Something in the German water…? 🤔 Not to mention Heinbach!
      I’m half-joking of course, I watch some people of other nationalities who are also strong improvisers. And you’re absolutely right that most demos really do not show off the capabilities in real tunes, just bash out the same chords for every voice.

    It’s amazing how good the sound quality is for budget keyboards nowadays. Way to go Yamaha!

    • @GaryR55
      @GaryR55 2 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      Consider that the recording is audio directly recorded from, probably, the headphone jack(?). Most people aren't aware of this and will assume this is ambient sound from the onboard speaker. If that were the case, you'd be hearing all the noise in the room or space the keyboard was filmed in (movements of the person playing the keyboard, dogs barking outside, etc.). This is not an intentional deception, it's simply the way audio for videos is actually recorded, i.e, the same way it's recorded for movie or TV production.

      it's not budget keyboards - it's just these little yamahas that have this fabulous sound. listen to any other small keyboard across different manufacturers and they sound like toys from '90. honestly I was instantly blown away by the sound quality first time I checked this F30. edit: in fact sound of these is often better than many of larger keyboards from many manufacturers also. just use your ears!

      Hey, i am deciding between f30 and a50 for pure fun. I have zero knowledge, this will be my first keyboard. I just want to have some fun. Which one of these two would you recommend?

    • @prfs5883
      @prfs5883 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@VTun1ngIf you just want to have fun or use for casual public music playing, f30 has more voices and styles. But A50 has some of the music modification functions and USB midi out, more suitable for music making. Find out more by referring to each keyboard's manual downloadable from Yamaha website. 37 keys isn't much and may not be enough for some songs. If possible, go for 49 for better musical expression. 61 keys version is even better and more flexible. It will cover most modern songs but not classical music pieces.

    • @ifxman

      @@VTun1ngHi, did you get one yet? If you want a fun keyboard for all around music, the F30 will keep you entertained and learning. I still used mine when I need inspiration haha. It's basically an arranger stand alone music work station only mini. Good luck and Keep 'Em Jammin' 🎶

    This is just unbelievable how cheap you can buy such a cool instrument. I have a PSRE303 which is a 61 key Yamaha (from the family, bit used) from about 2005 and I just started to learn stuff on it and if anything happens to it I'll be buying one of these. Love the sounds which are really at the level or higher than the PSR (yeah, I know, decades apart) and that it can be used via USB and not a specific charger. And it's CHEAP!

    When watching this video, it brings me back to my primary school days back in 2005 when me and my buddies, classmates would compose and sing during any school events or special days, and we do challenge other classes too. But the problem is non of us have access or own a proper electronic keyboard, İ only have a small Yamaha keyboard mainly build for kids like myself during those years back than to learn how to play keyboard that cost almost exactly like this one. I forgot the model of it, it only have voice and pre install melodies. No drums or accompaniment, seeing this new Yamaha keyboard like this one should have been made back than where it would cheap to buy....

    Wow, that was a banger at the end. I definitely prefer this to the Casios, not that I need either of them. For one, I love that it still has recognisably “Yamaha” design sensibilities, such as the typography for the function keys, or pretty much the same interface/voice selection method as they did on the PSS-270! Second, the voices where they sampled what sounds like one of their FM engines are wonderfully-applied for their purpose. It’s not the most ambitious device, but I appreciate that they’ve played to their strengths.

    Hi Keen on keys. I really like your videos. They go well into every functions on keyboards. I have to say, I am quite excited by Yamaha bringing back the PSS models. Who knows how far Yamaha will make this series grow. Usually Yamaha updates their models every 3 to 4 years so we might see another PSS keyboard soon.

    I had PSS F30 2 years ago. Shame that F-30 don't have the touch response! This would be great keyboard, since it has better variety of sounds than PSS A-50 which i already have.

    • @elistvan
      @elistvan 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think somehow the touch response as not as good as it should be. Even if it has 3 steps to set it. I have the a-50 about a year, before that i had an M-audio Axiom Air Mini 32 fro 3 years. It had so much better touch sensitivity. Even with the lightest setting i have to press the keys to play it in normal volume. And some instruments are louder than others.

      @keyhoarder 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@elistvan maybe you get used to m audio, for me pss a-50 have far better quality small keyboard than for example novation launchkey or akai mpk mini.

    I had the A-50 for a fun couple of months until one day it wouldn't start. I thought the phone charger burnt out the power supply until I found out from others that the BATTERIES BROKE IT!

  • @MattGreerMusic
    @MattGreerMusic 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I was not aware that these used the same keybed as the Reface series. That's a good piece of info. I'm quite impressed with the action on my Reface CP. Yeah, it's still mini-keys but they're the best mini-keys I've ever used.
    P.S. That electric piano tone sounds way better than it has any right to. Through some chorus and reverb, that would probably sound awesome.

    I feel like there's a big gap in the market for a proper decent quality small portable keyboard with built-in speakers for players who want a better quality sound and are happy to pay for it, but can't store a full-size 61+ key model or leave it set up (which then becomes annoying as you can't simply jump onto the keys when the inspiration takes you!). Apart from the Reface series which now look to be discontinued is there any alternative?

    I like this review, this would be a great little piano for travel. I wish it had an intro / ending button like my beloved YPT300, however, I like the fact that you can adjust accompaniment volume. The mute switch is nice. My YPT300 has 5/4 timing, I have lots of fun with it, wonder if this one has 5/4 as well? I also wonder if it has boogie woogie on the piano only accompaniment? I guess I will buy one and find out! :)
