Eliza jogging at 4am on her own, I’m sure she was running at that time because it was quiet!? I’m a jogger myself and used to love running outside it feels much better. But I stopped after a man pulled a knife on me in the park gesturing for me to follow him. I didn’t, I managed to get away unscathed. But I only use a treadmill now at home. Because it’s safer.

A lot of people who don't know the struggle tend to think that bad things only happen in "bad neighborhoods," so they have a false sense of safety. But people are using substances, abusing their partners, messing with children, taking people's lives, etc. even in the most upscale neighborhoods.

Its never ever going to fully change. People with power always abuse it. Probably even you given the chance. Most people will say things like "Oh your ex husband did all that to you, and hes still out and alive? Free?" The is no true Justice until the afterlife. But definitely these people need to be off the street out of commission. My Mother would NEVER hunt down who killed me, lool wtf No, she would wife her hands and not mention it. Its often the PUSH that comes from the family, money, media....if you dont hav.e that and you are involved in high profile DV NO ONE gives a fckn shit. If you in trouble you better move out and find real people to get you out. Strangulation is VERY serious. Live or die.

Our justice system is the best (If ever a criminal is caught they would rather be here). It’s the people like district attorneys for example, going light on crime!! If they interpret the law as written, we wouldn’t have repeat offenders AND if we instituted the DP In the most egregious cases, we would have solid deterrents. But we have bleeding hearts who want to go easy on crime.

To address your comment on RJ getting 6 years of freedom while on the run. To look at this in another light, there are so many criminals who, at the time of their crime, were losers with nothing to lose. Prison may have been a step up at that time in their lives BUT because they evaded justice for years, some clean themselves up, find love, get a life, own cars, homes, etc....and then they are identified and apprehended. They now have EVERYTHING TO LOSE. Their capture, and sentences are now going to be traumatic and painful to them. That brings a touch of poetic justice albeit delayed.

Like you grew up on the streets without a support system and made some bad decisions, even inadvertently hurting another person, ok let's help you out. But to callously and brutally harm/kill another human being for the enjoyment of it. NO. ABSOLUTELY FUCKING NOT. Protecting the public should come first. I have heard of so many cases where a truly heinous act was committed against a child and the perpetrator only served a few years then gets out and does it again but worse. Like COME ON. Sure, he had those 6 years of freedom. No need to feel upset over that, because those are the last 6 years of freedom, fresh air, good meals, and sunsets that he will ever get. Those 6 years are over now, and all he has to look forward to now is a concrete cell, prison politics, and prison yard rec. Justice may have been delayed, but he's in custody now, and he will never again see the world as a free man. Good job to the sharp student who found this guy out. That student deserves every cent of that reward money.
As for the teacher who was abducted. I go runs pretty early in the morning myself. Im 6'3" and 200lbs, and can be reasonably certain that no one is going to try to abduct me. Nonetheless the less, I always have a concealed firearm on my person that is easily accessible. It doesn't hinder my movements, or make my run uncomfortable in any way. Any woman who is all alone running like that should also have a concealed firearm. Mace or pepperspray is a joke, and not going to cut it at all. When it comes to personal safety and self defense, you need a firearm. I wish Eliza would have had one, and maybe this would have ended up much differently, with the piece of shit who killed her laying on the side of the road by his SUV with a bunch of holes in him. This is so sad.

Sadly, both men and women are failing miserably in learning healthy relationships. While RJ was a big RED flag for all women or men coming in contact with him, unfortunately people still interacted with him, especialy women.
I constantly see women go for these abusive jerks and overlook the healthy so-called good guy all the time. My gut feeling is these women do not have healthy relational skills, and end up choosing men with abusive personalities becuase they think its exciting to be protected in this manner. Criminaly speaking what we have in this case are two people with BPD/HPD/ and Narcissism and should have NEVER been together as they exacerbated the unhealthy behavior in both of them.
The HPD or Histrionic Personality Disorder is the most crucial here, its an ATTACHMENT disorder, meaning, people cant LET GO of others easily, they feel or think that their VALUE comes form the attachment, even if that attachment is abusive. Both sides bear responsibility in whether or not the relationship is healthy and has healthy boundaries.
Heck, how many people actually RECOGNISE what a RED FLAG is in a relationship? And how many can actually DETACH in a healthy manner. We need to TEACH our children better relational skills, they need to have more empathy and more respect for each other and themselves to be able to walk away from a relationship at the first RED FLAG they see.
Sadly, our current culture does NOTHING to help both men and women, and consequently more and more people either end of dead or REFUSE to get into relationships. Out birth rates are below replacement levels now and our species is dyeing out and no-one seems to care.

It's hard to imagine how a property manager didn't know that a credit check is financial. A criminal back ground check is criminal. Most people know there is a difference. It is also hard to imagine why the property she managed did not require both a credit, and criminal back ground check. Most properties require a criminal back ground check for the safety of their tenants. Many require one from the past state if they are moving from, or recently moved from another state. Im also surprised the host asked why would you need that (a criminal back ground check) to rent an apartment? Most apartments require/need one to protect their tenants. If a criminal back ground check shows theft robbery fraud violence etc it can also give them insight to factor in considering if they appear likely to pay their rent/damage the apartment/potentially be a liability cause them lawsuits
Reduce the overall safety of the apartment community. If they have charges of domestic violence they may disturb the peace. If it shows they prey on women children etc. Some people don't want to rent beside predators.

Every place I have ever rented has required a criminal background check as well as a credit check, plus for me to list contact information for my previous landlords to ensure that I had paid my rent on time, didn’t cause issues, and wasn’t evicted. That has been the case whether I was renting from an individual or company…. and regardless of whether I was renting an apartment, house, etc. But I have had plenty of friends that have had landlords that don’t request criminal background checks as well.

    • @mattjack3983
      @mattjack3983 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

Its going to vary from one state to the next, one city or town to the next. Some places will require that property owners run a criminal background check, some don't. Ive leased really shitty apartments that required criminal background and credit checks, and ive leased expensive apartments and houses in very nice areas that didnt do any checks at all, and only wanted to see my last few paycheck stubs to prove I could pay rent. It will vary from one place to the next, but doing criminal background and credit checks is definitely a very common practice amongst property owners who are leasing out their properties.

OMG! If only one single soul had made the effort to call 911 while this brawl was going on, this gorgeous young mom would still be here to raise her babies! This terrible tendency for people who are hearing or viewing abuse continually failing to call for help HAS to change! I know psych studies have determined that when this happens, people tend to watch each other for cues. If someone else doesn’t take action, they won’t. We have to grow a spine and take action to do whatever’s necessary to protect each other! And Anna, I was SO relieved to hear that you too have two viewpoints…one that is calm, mature, and logical and one that is passionate, empathetic, and compassionate. I’m a Holocaust scholar, and I battle this issue every time I have to deal with the Holocaust deniers, White Supremacists, bigots…the list goes on! Sometimes, it is extremely difficult to squash our heart and use our heads, and because we tend to view these horrible events through our hearts first, over time it wears on our souls. It’s our passion for justice that keeps us fighting despite our own heartache! It’s wonderful that crime victims have such a strong, tenacious, and most of all caring, advocate!

Karma has NOTHING to do it or god…
This man went on a holiday after his third serious offense and crime
Moreover, whats the “karma” for the male for enslaving women throughout history?????
Nothing. Women onky want to feel safe and not take a revenge in them though …. YOU as women can only vote since 20th century
-can only have YOUR own salary and can only have a profession since first WW
-can only have education since 20th century too
You as a woman belonged to only men - First to your father then he handed to your husband - YOU were their property!!!
Declaration of Independence or other Important independece mivement DIDNT INCLUDE women only MEN - up to this date we celebrate these events as national holidays… they were not
No women philosopher/scientist/artist/politician existed until recently - in museums u find NO WOMEN creator. Why? Cos of the above , they were kept as slaves at homes.
      And did Karma so something?:)))
      No absolutely not
Women are still fighting for their RIGHT OF LIFE

@@mse5739 I’m well versed in history so I ignored your list in its entirety. Why? Not to be disrespectful. Simply because your emotions kicked in long before your reading comprehension did.
I was CLEARLY making a point that isn’t it nice to see karma (among the other things listed); as in…IT IS RARE.
I get it. It’s fun to be combative and alleviate stress on the internet debating or “schooling” people.
With that said. I spent $53,000 on that schooling already. I get it: I APPRECIATE IT despite how my ‘tone’ may read, as it’s difficult to convey a tone via text. What I skimmed over, I dig it, I’ve said it. Hell, I just had to make a long ass post yesterday because I was sick of seeing people on my Facebook friends list keep saying ‘Uncle Tom.’ Especially because we’re from Cincinnati. I’m assuming if you’re well versed, then you know why. If not, then head to Google to continue your education.

I would have had more time to myself had I had a human child, rather than a pug. 😂 I still miss him years later and always will. 🐶

I understand people not getting involved directly. If they had, he would have harmed them and she likely would have stayed with him anyway. How much time has to pass before humanity finally learns? The woman usually stays and tries to stop you from interfering.

Wasn't it in Iowa a few years ago that someone killed a young jogger also?
