I’ve been watching you for years and I just admire the shift you’ve made to more thoughtful consumption and focusing on the clothes you love as opposed to trends!
I'm a very recent follower and I love this about her. Just her vibe and the way her content is focused on conscious consumption is the only reason i subscribed even tho my personal style is very different then hers. It has reallly forced me into thinking more about it tooo(as a person who has just followed trends for soo long and then hated half her wardrobe later:-)).
I swear the way people view fashion and trends changed so much once tiktok became the biggest platform. It kinda sucks but it’s nice to see influencers like Laini sharing a different pov. Gotta stan ✋🏻
its crazy how fast trends change, but its crazier how most of us fall into trap of not wearing something just because people on internet say something isnt considered a trend anymore! for example, i love my two color jeans i bought a year ago, its been out of a trend for a while now, but im not gonna stop wearing because someone said so. im so sick of how we, as a society normalized throwing away pieces we like since tiktok decided its not cute anymore. thats why i love watching your videos, you are always honest and true to your style! and sadly, not so many people are like that nowdays
I love you laini, but also you don’t give yourself enough credit for how funny you are!! This not only made me smile today but also gave me the confidence to wear things that are longggg out of style!
they're like 15, they clearly don't know anything about fashion or being an adult with financial/time priorities or taking care of the environment. they'll learn (i hope)
@@dancingdyonysis yeah I got there vibe that anyone saying that classic pieces ( esp the collared shirt) you could wear to a job interview aren't trendy they have to be under 16, cause I thought the same then. (I'm in my mid 20s now)
I gotta say I love love love your content right now and I feel so inspired to lean into my personal style and wear what makes me feel good! This shits amazing
I’m so glad that I detached from the trend cycle because i love probably everything Laini had to „throw away“ and will be able to continue to wear them without caring
THIS VIDEO IS EVERYTHING!!!!!! Also - ‘trends’ are so fast could you imagine the second that it’s deemed ‘out’ by whenever on the internet’s opinion how MUCH AND OFTEN you would have to be constantly buying new ish. Plus ‘individuality in dressing’ is so much more interesting and artistic then what the internet trends deems as ‘cool’.
just because someone doesnt like a piece of clothing doesnt mean that he /she makes a statement in public they they would throw up or something , if you are having a decent following , you owe them ..what about those girls who just bought a piece saving their pocket money or working a gig for the sake of money ...tiktok is a mind disaster these days , they give more money anxiety like you will never have enough in your bank account for all the shopping .....thankyou laini for the kind initiative of sticking to your pieces and loving what one like to wear instead of hearing someone nag about trends and whats worthy or not
This just inspired me so much to keep wearing the clothes I own and like even though they're not trendy anymore. I very often shop into trends bc I really like them and then I feel bad or ashamed to keep wearing them when they go out of style even though I still like them. It didn't happen to me before and I always got so many compliments on my style so I'm gonna try and win that confidence and personality back !! Your videos are always so inspiring, thank you!💖💖💖
I've been watching you since the spring of 2020 and I can say for sure that you've started wearing so many things a long time before they became trendy.
I think I just thrifted a pair of those "awful" patchwork pants but I really like them and I was so excited to find them second hand that I don't care if people hate them! This is a super good reminder that the only opinion that should matter when it comes to personal style/preference is ur own!
i love ur view on trends and completely agree. i’ve been really focusing on expanding my wardrobe not with cheap pieces that i’m gonna get rid of in 3 months but with quality basics that i’ll never get tired of :)
Hey Laini! love everything about you! your style, your grace, honesty, the way you film and edit, just everything! .. loving all the videos lately, patiently waiting for a "style my boots video" ;) xo
Preachhh to what you said about ditching cheap trends and adopting timeless pieces (like your mom's coat). My boyfriend's mom gifted me a black leather coat in the same length today and I can't wait to wear it.
As someone who rarely pays attention to fashion trends, this is so fascinating to me. I didn’t know that half of these trends were going on but the fact that we are expected to chuck them out as soon as they are out is so weird to me. Like how is that okay to people?
ok i saw your video about this on tik tok and commented on it with suggestions but seeing you throwing out all your thrifted versions of the trends has me laughing! this video is too good! to be honest the thrifted versions of the trends never look 'trendy' in your outfits - they always look so cool and timeless. to me this video proved that the best thing to do is go thrift an item thats blowing up on tik tok if you really like the idea - it'll never go out of style!! 💌
where’s your checkered print blanket from? 🤩🤍🖤 amazing mirror angle at the beginning. the background of your bed with your doggy laying there is so adorable ☺️🤍🖤
Hey Laini! Just wanted to say how much I love your videos and everything you've been putting out recently! It's such a nice change of pace to come back to your channel after seeing other tiktoks and videos like the one you talked about here. I also just am in love with the vibe and your sense of humor and style! Say hi to Ernie for me :D
I found the Levi's orange tab patchwork jeans, at an outlet, in my size for $35, four years ago. I've been wearing them since and I'm not about to stop now because someone half my age says they're uncool. Lol I'm almost 30 so my level of caring has significantly declined.
I think the idea of “cheugy” is sooo ridiculous. Why would something that you like and looks cute on you *all of a sudden* not be because some random person on tiktok said so 🙄 I hate that that’s how we decide fashion these days
They way I liked literally every piece you threw out We gotta stop focusing on items themselves and remember that we are all individual people with different styles and tastes. At this point, if you hold onto a trend past its "expiration" I consider that admirable because you clearly don't let others dictate your decisions. It's kinda sad how the shame over the trend cycle stems from people not having a good idea of what they do and don't like. And if something has been oversaturated, you can always just style it differently! I hold that anyone can rock anything if they do it confidently enough, regardless if I would wear it or not.
Lani makes me want to be me and express myself the way I want it makes me so happy I found her account a year ago I can notice a change in myself to doing what I want because of her videos
I absolutely love the top you’re wearing in this video!!! Does anyone know where it’s from? Started tracking my wardrobe this year to truly find my style and be more intentional with what I’m purchasing compared to what I’m actually wearing!
i love this!!! the last person i kinda dated said he didn’t like some of my clothes (yes i dropped him like food for a bird)- but every time he mentioned it i would laugh bc i love my style & he’s not me sooo?🤷🏻♀️🤣
i know u said you didn’t coin the term “psychedelic print” but it’s simply a description of what the print is. i hear people saying “trippy prints” too aswell !
I love this video so much! Really eye-opening. Also, love the corset top you're wearing with the straps!! Where did you buy it? I've been looking for a high quality white/cream corset top for ages
I stopped buying "trendy" stuff back in 2016 because 1. I realized that trends are very temporary and 2. I developed my own style and have stuck with it since. The ONLY trend I have followed through with is the mom Jean trend and the only reason I keep them is because I truly love them. I'll buy them in pink, purple, blue, black and classic denim. I have things in my wardrobe that I wouldn't have to worry about because nobody who follows these yearly trends has them, because they aren't in with the trends. I LOVE my tutus, plaid skirts, patterned sweaters, glitter rainbow doc martens, statement collars, babydoll dresses, fishnets, corsets, and my favorite pair of converse I painted myself. I feel like I am unique in my own style and I'm fine with not wearing patchwork, leather jackets, low rise jeans, biker shorts, and neon colors, because they're simply not for me. They're for you and they make you happy, and as long as you're happy, then it doesn't matter what I think. I really want to become a stylist eventually, and with that I'll have people that have a different style and taste, and that's why I've learned to stop being critical over something that someone else is wearing, because they love it.
I love watching TH-cam videos for fashion advice BUT… it makes me wanna go buy more stuff. Thankfully I thrift everything, but still! It stacks up and I’m not loving the clutter😅
people like to blame the internet for overconsumption but with the algorithms apps like TikTok have where you can really tailor your feed based on your tastes, it’s not really the apps fault. I feel like TikTok helped me learn to style things I already have, thrift what I don’t, and also show me how to sew what I want to make. 🤷🏻♀️ I love my feed and the amazing creators I follow
I wore a leather blazer to brunch recently, and my friend said “what are you wearing?” I’m sure she didn’t mean anything bad by it, and even IF she was judging, I wouldn’t have cared cause I love that blazer ☺️
I’ve been watching you for years and I just admire the shift you’ve made to more thoughtful consumption and focusing on the clothes you love as opposed to trends!

In full agreement 🥺

Annoying how ppl let tiktok dictate their fashion choices so much. I love your channel bc you don’t blindly follow trends.
thank you!!!!!!!

awh youre too sweet!!!!!!!
omgg r people rly saying collared shirts and jean jackets are "out"? classic timeless pieces can never be out
right!!!!! ppl r dumb
Right that’s like saying pants are out
they're like 15, they clearly don't know anything about fashion or being an adult with financial/time priorities or taking care of the environment. they'll learn (i hope)

“when you get a high quality vintage piece of a trend, it’s not a trend, it’s timeless.” -laini ozark 2022
I’m so glad that I detached from the trend cycle because i love probably everything Laini had to „throw away“ and will be able to continue to wear them without caring
your videos are genius. this 'experiment' was so amazongly mindblowing. you really inspire me to wear what i wanna wear instead of following trends.
Wow, thank you!
“when you get a high quality vintage piece of a trend it’s not a trend, it’s timeless” TRUTH !!!
Can you make a separate video of outfits made from all of these “thrown out” items 😂❤️
Omg… this is so smart

love how people are saying they’re sick of cowboy boots but we’re gonna stay wearing them all year long in Texas
i guess i have to move to texas!
Haha yes! As a texan i wear mine all the time, especially for the rodeo :)
no but everytime i watch ur vids u inspire me to stop buying trendy clothes & use whatever the fuck i want !! love u for this 🖤
That makes me so unbelievably happy!!!!
this sassy satire video was everything…trends are absurd, keep up the good work you lovely lady
Laini I literally am obsessed with your wardrobe I’m actually JEALOUS AF of your closet 😭🥲💕
finally someone who understands and shares my viewpoint on certain "not trendy" styles
i love your creative video ideas and execution
Thank you so much!
@@LainiOzark ofc, I always see the extra effort you put in!
LOVE this video, so fun, funny, clever, and a great message. I started watching a few months ago probably and absolutely love this channel!

i’m in love with your fashion vids!
thank you so much!!!!!

Yes queen I support that you coined the term psychedelic print 💖
such a cool video idea
and it's interesting to think that in a year (or even a few months) the pieces you "threw away" could be totally different
Weirdly teared up watching this. It’s so important for us to dress for ourselves.

"don't look at my toes" LOL, Ernie is the cutest!!!
yess!! you definetely started the "psychedelic print" saying - I realised that too
The sarcasm definitely made me giggle
Can we just make a trend that everyone wears what makes them comfortable, instead of switching it every two days
