Look at all the people in the comments getting upset... Wtf are you getting upset about? Are you upset that they wouldn't give the monkey a knife? Are you upset that they wouldn't give the monkey a very sugary HUMAN food? This is an animal sanctuary. Look at all the land. Look how nice it is there. Notice how the animals aren't locked up, and are allowed to roam freely? Did you read the description? The baby's mom was shot and they're nursing her back to health. The animals are perfectly happy and healthy. Why do you all get upset about little things...

Some of you people really need to take a nerve pill. Your criticism of this young man is totally unwarranted. At no time is he doing anything to the baby baboon to be cruel or nasty. In fact the baby appears to be enjoying the light hearted interaction.
Hell if you think this is teasing the baboon, then you ought to know that primates often tease each other as well as other animals in nature.
The cruelest thing anyone can do to a monkey is to take one in as a pet. Don't give me this crap that you love them as much as they love you. Because if given the choice monkeys take the companionship of other monkeys over humans every time.

Warrior Monkeys: It is amazing to hear your baboon speak. He keeps saying, "I like." Believe or not it has been said and it is true that the male baboons can speak like humans which is truly amazing. Teach it how to increase its vocabulary and teach him what is not good for him so that he won't get hurt.

I've worked at a baboon rehabilitation center. The poor baby is crying from when the syrup is taken away to the end of the video. That moo sound is the way that baboons cry. The guy is taunting the baby and telling him off for touching the knife and then putting it in the baby's face. I don't know what rehabilitation center this is or how you got the twisted idea this is how to take care of baboons. But someone needs to take these baboons from them... now!

I love this video, I don't think the young man is tormenting the little guy and If you notice the baby baboon's cheeks are full so he isn't starving also he looks like he is being taken care of by the woman who keeps coming to clear the table. He is bonded with her cuz when she leaves he cries and goes after her. The mother of this little guy was shot and they are taking care of him and nursing his mom back to health Id say they were doing a great job.

I take it they are volunteers at an animal refuge it seems. I guess the young man thinks he is being funny. But he essentially has used an orphaned baby baboon at their mercy, completely dependant on them for survival, as his side kick in a "routine" that fails as "comedy", or anything vaguely resembling "comedy".
I didnt say this was "animal cruelty"..I recounted parts of what occured in the video because it is inappropriate to make fun of the animal who has begun to see the girl caring for him as his mother since his is dead, and I found it unnecessary and certainly not comedy and not part of the Mission Statement or goals OF the Rescue organization that accepted this young man and gave him a wonderful opportunity to learn and experience many things. . He applied to volunteer there so he may add it to his resume, and this is the "fun" and experience he gained from that opprotunity. He certainly failed at being any kind of a role model as well. Do u have kids? Neices ? Nephews? To me making fun of a child or lesser animal known to have the same emotional make up at different stages and that are self aware, is inappropriate. Laughing at the "tard" thats lesser than , and posting it for all to see is inappropriate. Name calling also...immature and inappropriate.
No, the person making fun of the lesser has the problem. You seem incapable of indepth conversation and prefer to look for argument instead. My issue is a sound psychological one without emotion . But you are beyond understanding that this fails at being a role model or much of anything else. The monkey doesn't get it and no wasn't hurt. But the idiot with the mouth is liable to do things off camera when he behaves this way on camera , that would be considered very inappropriate., and even cruel. That is also a sound psychological fact and proven knowledge, again that you dont seem to have the ability to comprehend, but thats ok. You don't have to like a particular animal, but have the same respect for all of them as you would with any human. Who's to say a human child is anymore angelic than this baboon? But as most people replied, Baboons are NOT nice creatures, ive seen videos of a mid sized ( for lack of a better word, he wasn't an adult but wasn't a young baby either) rip apart some dudes face for no reason. *This baboon is* a resident rescue. It would already have been bottle-fed alongside the other orphans, and you can see it has recently had its mouth full of what appears to a breakfast melon. This baby is at the table because its surrogate is clearing it--not because it is dying of hunger.
*The young man* in the video is obnoxious, but he is right to prevent the monkey gaining access to syrup and knives. And Cory, you might want to write this down: _baby baboons don't speak English_. It runs off screaming not because it has been offended, but because its surrogate mother has closed the door behind her--possibly just as the baby wanted comforting, having been thwarted in its attempts to steal food from others.

This baby's mother was shot, and they are nursing it back to health. So he's not starving. He's not absolutely miserable. Read the facts before you comment with such rubbish.

I believe this baboon came to our centre in the end and has been given the proper care, nutrition needed and reintroduced to his own kind... was this taken at a rehab centre in Nelspruit? (I'll refrain from naming and shaming). I believe I recognise the individual from a "rehab" centre where we picked this poor little guy from. The "rehab" centre which had him named him "Smee" - we renamed him Oscar to mark a new-beginning for him. If this is in fact the same baboon, judging by its colouration in the video we were only handed the baboon months after the other "rehab" centre had him.... keeping him away from his own kind for more time than necessary which is not what any reputable rehabilitation centre should be trying to achieve. This video clearly shows a very sad and confused baboon orphan and people laughing at him. If I were you "Bush Worriers" to redeem your image of a "professional", "mindful" and "knowledgeable" organisation I would remove this sad and upsetting video.

This baby is an orphan and should be at a rehab centre that treats him and cares for him properly - not being kept at table being teased and learing all the wrong things here like sitting with his untrained care-givers at a human table being fed junk food. where was this filmed? Which animal sanctuary? There are only 3 in South Africa which legally can rehabilitate for baboons (C.A.R.E., CROW and The Riverside) - I dont think you belong to any of those as the baboon would certainly not be allowed to eat syrup..... he looks sad and confused and needs to be at a rehab centre with his own kind.

@chakur25 this little baby is an orphan and indeed being fed the wrong food. He is malnourished and having an incorrect diet will lead to him screaming like this for food. He should be with his mother, but she is dead. The people in the video are making themselves look bad - especially asking money and saying they are helping him; he is not receiving help from those in the video.
