These trucks are one of the best out there as far as dependability goes. This 04 is my second one. Both of them had the Inline 6, which is more than enough motor for these trucks. My 05 reached 265,000 miles without any major issues, and was handed off to my son when I got the 04 in these videos.
I’ve had my 03 Trailblazer since high school original motor was shot but did a engine and tranny swap with a envoy in a week (plug and play) and hasn’t failed me since 5 years strong Body : 340,000 miles Engine :150,000 miles Just did a oil change I’m sitting at 226k now PLAN ON PUTTING A TURBO !! It’s a fun truck and I’m glad it’s my first
Yep, the EXT LT was the Luxury Touring package with all the bells and whistles. Honestly, there are times when GM can't seem to decide if something should be an LT or an LS, and it varies by model. :-D
lol, I completely understand that. This was our first attempt at something like this and we were all trying to find our footing on how we wanted to format the show. Whenever I go back and re-watch this video compared to our newer ones, I just shake my head and smile. Thanks for watching!
And to respond to your driving classification, it is my daily hard working and family service driving vehicle. In fact no car on earth could bear what this car has experienced with me😂
I felt that so much. My TB is named Bessie and she has hauled wood, dirt, rocks, furniture, band equipment (very frequently), my tools, my detailing equipment, and my big ass around over and over again. 😂 I have gone off-road many times and driven Bess like she's stolen more times than I am proud of. They are incredibly rugged vehicles that get virtually none of the credit they deserve. 💚
The trailblazer on my channel is actually the second one I've owned. My old one was an 05 that i used as a work truck. It was driven so much that I was getting oil changes every month and I never had a single issue with it, even after it passed 265,000 miles. One of the best trucks and best engines ever! Thanks for watching!
The 4200 is the most underrated engine been made in last 25 years and there’s so many of them so cheap to acquire. The fact they can handle 7-800 hp on stock bottom end is awesome. A cheap eBay turbo and you can easily make 500hp
Yeah, they are one of the most reliable engines that GM ever put out. About to break 200K on the one used in my videos and my prior one had 260K when I gave it to my son.
@@everyman_auto I've been using Air-Tec micro-ceramic hexagonal boron nitride oil additive. I'm gonna order more now - my last oil change I spilled out the filter fill oil and then the engine sounded rough for a couple minutes. This stuff seems to help keep the engine smooth. pricey though. 35,000 miles for a can though.
Thanks for the effort you have done. I am watching you from a far area. Your video comes in front of me by coincidence when looking for restoration or renovation of trail blazer I have since 2007. I am. In the beginning of procees, actually it's not me but the mechanic, paint, chairs renovation men and so on. I will be watching all your videos and if a question arizes, I will let you know. Thanks again 🙏
Thank you so much for the comment! I'm glad I am able to help. I will be posting more project related videos in a couple of months because of the winter weather here in the Midwest United States, so stay tuned. There's definitely a lot more coming up regarding my 04 EXT
I have an 04 that just hit 288k on the original motor. This SUV is a champ. Easy to work on and a great truck overall. Wish mine was as in good condition as yours but it’s still holding up!
Great video I have always loved the Chevy trailblazer and once I found out there a body on frame truck I wound up loving them even more. I'm currently doing the same thing with my 89 Honda Prelude freshening it up just a lil bit, strange choice to be my next daily driver but sometimes you just can't argue with reliability even if it is 34 years lol
Hey Mike! It was great to meet you at the gas station down the road! If you need help with your channel or the cars, let me know! I’m currently out of work so all my tools and equipment are at home just down the road from you!
Thank you very much. We had a lot of fun shooting the Trailblazer videos, and it was a wonderful learning experience for me, even with the paint SNAFU, lol.
@@everyman_autohey I have a question I myself have a 04 trailblazer and I’m wondering what kind of rewiring did you have to do to be able to properly install those nice pair of headlights or what steps did u have to do to install because I am thinking of installing those on mines. Thank You 👍🏽
@@srtwrld9547 The LED bars around the edge of the light assembly need to be wired into either the headlights or driving lights, but that was it. The rest was plug and play.
I have two daily drivers A 2004 Trailblazer with 180k miles runs very strong A 1968 RS/SS Camaro matching numbers 350 with 4 speed Muncie. 115k original miles.
Currently driving an 04 Buick Rainier with 5.3 all he bells and whistles. 92000 when purchased 7 years ago. Slowly replacing parts as some plastics are becoming not manufactured.
I know how that feels. One place you can check out is car-part.com It is a national database of used parts. That may help for some of the more difficult parts to source. Thanks for watching!
You just can’t beat this platform. Comfortable , plenty of power , great in the snow and reliable. I see countless trailblazers / Envoys everyday.
They really were built well. One of the best SUV platforms to ever hit the market. Thanks for watching!
Owned a 2002 basic model. Drove it around 90000. Then purchased a 2005 fully loaded one.

This gives me some early 2000's PowerPoint vibes, but you really make it work for you! Very informative!
