THE APPLE MAGSAFE Wallet Has a Big Problem

- The Apple MagSafe wallet uses European leather and snaps securely to my iPhone 12 Pro, even with the silicon case. The problem is that if you overload the wallet with too many cards--or use several cards and a bill of cash--they will be too tight to use the thumb slot on the back.
And herein lies the BIGGEST problem: When your cards are inserted all the way so that they bottom out at the bottom of the wallet, there is not enough sticking out to grab them with your fingers. I literally had to use a pair of needle-nose pliers to pull them out. This might improve as the leather loosens, but for now, it's just not cool.

Definitely valid responses. I’m the opposite. I have found 3 cards to be comfortable. 2 even better. I usually grip the wallet from the bottom and slide up the card facing me. Works every time.
I really hate having to take the wallet off my phone first to access my cards. It’s the only MagSafe compatible wallet that doesn’t have some way to access your cards from the front. It just really bugs me.
I keep my debt card numbers facing the thumb slot i have 3 cards and a paper coffee reward card as well
I put 3 in mine all the time. Try putting your cards in with the numbers showing through the hole. That will help you push the cards up.
That would work, but all cards issued in the last few years are teflon smooth. ⛸️
You are right, I put 3 on it, it was difficult to remove, with 2 if it is perfect.
All I need is my one credit card with the highest limit and my driver license and I’m set to go out. All my other cards including debit is all in Apple Pay wallet
My experience with the Apple Wallet is as follows:
At first it was hard to get the cards out, but after a week or so it eases up a little and after that it stays that way, it doesn’t get looser.
After using it more often, I agree. I just really HATE having to remove it from phone to access my cards.
You can push from the buttom of the card holder to push the cards up some then use the cut out put to pull them out or u can put the 3 cards in an use a hair dryer to warm up the lather some to help starch out the lather a bit if it’s tight but over time it should do that anyway the more you use it
@thedion09 That's all good advice and I agree that it will loosen up over time. What I didn't mention is the fact that I have to take the wallet off the phone in order to access the cards. If Apple had left more of the cards exposed (like the Moft MagSafe wallet for instance), it would allow me to get a fingernail underneath and remove a card without having to remove the wallet from the phone.
I have breaked it loose to fit 4 cards, but what I'm not a fan of is having to take out the wallet to remove your card, and it doesn't have strong enough magnet to act as a kickstand, minus the find my feature magbak wallet lacks its a better version of apples magsafe wallet it every way, still keeps that nice slim protfolio, works as a stand due to stronger magnet and has a loop to hold your phone

Like many people have mentioned in comments, the wallet does loosen up over time. But it still bugs me that you have to remove the wallet first before you can access your cards.
Apple really tricked us on this one with three cards nearly impossible to take out with your fingers.

I had this issue in the beginning but I’ve been using it for a while now and we time goes on I can more cards in there but even still I really only use the wallet for the absolute necessity’s when leaving the house I’ve got my debit my credit my license and my registration and a rubber band around it that holds cash to it
Just the absolute necessities is the best part of MagSafe wallets in general. Most of them are super thin and only hold 2-3 cards. Rubber bands also work!
Give it some time to loosen up a lil bit. Everything gets used to something at one point or another.
I'm trying to be patient. 😵💫 But there are other things that really bug me, too, like the fact that anything other than a card (like cash, receipts) can get stuck in there. I've had to extract stuff with needle nose pliers. And, of course, the fact that you have have to remove the wallet from your phone to access your cards is a real dealbreaker for me.
Idk what kinda case y’all got but mine was 80 bucks from Apple and it holds and functions with three cards easily. Can’t hold four without it getting tight though.

Nah just move it to the horizontal view and you are good to go, I had the same issue until I bent it to the horizontal position.
Was thinking about buying one of these for my iPhone 13, looks cool but doesn’t seem very functional I might wait till Apple improves with them & they don’t have the color that matches my phone & case either which sucks.

Nah, I carry license, Apple Card and debit card in my Apple wallet. Use it daily. No issues. I also put folded cash in there. Attached to my phone as I type this
I was having the same problem and I think I found the solution. With 3 cards inserted, I put paper money folded into 4 between 2 cards and used it that way for 3-4 weeks. Frankly, it is extremely difficult to use when it is in paper money, but it is okay if you put 3 cards and money that you do not use and keep it on the side for 1 month. After 3-4 weeks, 3 cards can be removed and inserted very easily, now I'm thinking of putting the second banknote and expanding it further and making it a comfortable space for 1 banknote :D . Also, I don't know why, but when you push it out with the middle finger instead of the thumb, it comes out easily no matter how tight it is.

1. It’s been out for years, so if it doesn’t work for you, get a different solution. 2. If you need a third card (you don’t need the Apple Card which is what I see as one of your cards), then put the card with raised numbers on the side of the thumb hole to help push it out. Otherwise only use two cards. 3. No need to be dramatic with the needle nose pliers.
Over time, I’ve found myself softening a little towards the Apple version. But I have also reviewed 15 other MagSafe wallets and I think a majority of them are an improvement on Apple.

One big trick i out the numbers engraved card facing the thub hole which makes it super easy
I agree, but all new cards (at least in the US) are now smooth, mainly with credit card numbers printed on the back.
Thank goodness I'm not the only one that has had this same problem. I have pretty dry hands and it's especially difficult for me to get the cards out. Have held up the line at stores several times because I couldn't get my card out. Frustrating indeed!
In all fairness, the Apple MagSafe wallet does loosen up over time. But I just HATE having to take it off my phone to access my cards. There are plenty of better alternatives.
@@WalletSurfer I have had mine for over a year and it hasn't loosened at all. However I did get another one (one of the fine woven ones) and it's a lot less tight than my first one. The new one is MUCH easier to get cards out.

@@WalletSurfer Ha ha! I'm not sure if it's production issues and some are very tight and other not as tight, but I have also ordered a 3rd one that is leather via Amazon to see if it will be tight or more forgiving like the fine woven and I am very curious now.
I got a third wallet and it’s no where as tight as my first Apple wallet. So I now have 2 Apple wallets that are easy to use and retrieve cards and 1 that is extremely difficult to retrieve my cards from.
Maybe they changed them but I just bought one and three cards slide in and out easily. Maybe I have super thumbs😁

I think this could be easily fixed by just making the groove bigger or even making it go all the way off the border to were its open
I agree. I also wish they had included a thumb push on the front so you didn’t have to remove the wallet first to access your cards. Really poor design.

Just grab it on the sides, you won't be applying as much pressure on the cards plus your squeeze will slightly widen the wallet so you can easily pull them out

What I would do is remove the thumb slot card it comes with and use the back of your credit/debit card for a better grip. I've been able to take mine out that way.

Good point. I think wallets give many of us a sense of security. Personally, I like to carry some cash and I like to have a place to stash receipts. Unfortunately, the Apple MagSafe wallet isn't very good at doing either of those things. And the fact that they make you take the wallet off your phone to access your cards? Tsk tsk.

Most Mafsafe compatible wallets hold an a average of about 3 cards. For me, they have replaced my usual wallet. I personally like the Moft MagSafe wallet because it holds a few cards and a bill of cash, plus doubles as a kickstand in all 3 viewing positions.

As long as it's attached to your iPhone, you can use any MagSafe wallet because your iPhone has Find My. The cool thing about MagSafe wallets in general is that you rarely ant reason remove them, so it's almost always attached. If you can find your phone, you can find your wallet.
