How bizarre that corporations will dismiss lucrative consumer segments just because they make them "only" lots of money and not "gagoots" money. Like with 'Classic WoW'.
I was one of those PC players on EQ Mac, found out by accident that I just so happened to have a CPU, MOBO, and GPU that could be turned into a hackintosh, was able to get snow leopard running and dam me Mac isn't so easy to get a GPU running think I had a ati/AMD 4890 at the time. Played around 2010ish to 2011. Just started on project quarm 2 weeks ago, got a 30 monk.
Firstly good video. Secondly, I do think it wouldn't hurt in the future if MMOs allowed official private servers you could pay for as a service. Fragmented though it may be being able to get the exact tailored experience you want with the MMO as a platform would make the games evergreen not unlike what modding does for single-player experiences.
This is an interesting point! I had never thought about it as a time capsule, but the PS3 version is the one I’m most familiar with, and I was very surprised finally playing the PC version to see that people were playing levels other than 2Fort. To this day I still don’t really understand any of the new features.
Velios was the last classic experience. Could almost say Kunark since the old world was still so big then. Shadows of Luclin was ass IMO. I stopped playing before PoP.
Craziest thing is how Mac was dedicated to making a gaming ecosystem on their platforms for a years but Microsoft just decided to do it pretty much out of nowhere, snatched apple's IP and smoked them out of the water lol
“You see this with Twitter…” wtf echo chamber bubble do you live in? People leaving? You just kind of bumbled through this video saying some odd things at times.
Do you feel that Twitter is exactly as socially relevant as it was two years ago? My overall point is that Twitter doesn't have a singular replacement, so the community is being fragmented as people leave the service. Personally I feel that Twitter was once a place where I could reliably talk to most of my favourite people, but most of them have stopped using microblogging services entirely, and modern Twitter in particular feels flooded by porn bots and Crypto grifters, to the point that it's not a very functional website.
Protect 1999 really is the go-to central ultimate classic server by a large number of players and has Daybreak's blessing.
Still play on Green myself
Project Quarm has 1500 people online
Love your channel!! love the setup, love your enthusiasm!

Twinks in EQ were low level character with high priced gear. (Over powered and given from your higher characters/friends.)
This is all I ever knew Twink as until other cultures just dominated the word in "normal people" spaces.
I love Everquest, it's never been better to play.

Spoiler alert: Daybreak turned Darkpaw did, in fact, lose the code...for Everquest 2 Classic.
Just wait
Awesome! I think this format works great too. It's great hearing you enthuse about these things. :)
So happy I found this channel!!

Too bad emergent gaming doesn't really exist anymore in today's live service and constant patching models. No more meta'ing the metagame.
I miss Al'Kabor. RiP my old monk, "Xavierjack the Drunken Master"
Come to Project Quarm it has like 1300+ ppl
If you like classic Eq take a look at the indie mmo Monsters and Memories
ANYONE from the 80s and early 90s can confirm that YES, macs used to have great support for games. Thats not up for debate. Its a fact.
My new favorite channel
Get Will Soon!
The PS3 version of Team Fortress 2 was basically this-it never got any updates.

@@ComputerLabHighjinks oh yeah it's sort of wild how different the game got.

Imagine thinking gaming on Mac is ideal.
