"I've found some excellent instructional videos online for this fishing technique, but this particular one stands out with its crystal-clear close-up shots, making it incredibly easy to understand and follow your technique. Looking forward to more videos like this!"
There's some great video for this kind of fishing online but this one nailed it with the clear close ups that make it so much easier to follow your method. Keep them coming.
Hey man, Thanks for watching. The reason I dont is that the circle hook isnt designed to work like a J hook. its meant to work with the bait hanging off the bottom , not on the shank of the hook. Having the bait on the shank can prevent the hook from turning.
Nice explanation and demo! Can I ask why you use a circle as the penal hook? I currently use a 5/0 mustad chinu on top of a 5/0 uptide Viking for my ray fishing
I used to use chinus for all my pennel setups up to last year but wanted to try using circles to prevent deep hooked fish especially on rays as they can sit on a bit and swallow it before you ever notice. For about 6 months I used them alongside my usual rigs and found that 90% of my fish were being caught on the circle and that 9/10 fish where perfectly hooked in the mouth. I also like that there are 2 hooks that are different in terms of hooking the fish. for example they can get caught on a generic J or chino hook but once a fish moves that hook can fall out and result in no hookup where as with a circle when the fish moves thats when the circle comes into its own and sets itself. I really hope that makes sense
@@jameswhite6402 I know it sounds odd too but I find you get a better hookup on the circles with a barbless hook. Im not sure if its because there is less resistance to get the hook in or what. But again that may be just me thinking that haha
Makes perfect sense especially as it’s not like pulling a barb in on a J hook, I do know people who fish for tope from the boat with a barbless circle but I never considered them for rays, I’ve only ever used them for bass before with a lip hooked joey
@@jameswhite6402 Ya for all my sharking from the boat I only use barbless circles. For the rays I just prefer because they can sit on a bit and eat away without you knowing they are there and as soon as they move the circle slips into the corner of the mouth. Ya for big baits like joeys they are perfect for so work a treat
Unfortunately I had to look for another video, I couldn't hear what you were explaining because of the unnecessary irritating background music, if I wanted to listen to music I would of turned my radio on.

The music isn't that bad 😂
