Knowles' Andragogy theory suggests that adults learn best when learning is self-directed, based on their experiences, directly relevant to their lives, and when they're ready to learn. In contrast, Kolb's Experiential Learning theory asserts that learning occurs in a cycle of concrete experience, reflective observation, abstract conceptualization, and active experimentation. While both theories underscore the importance of experience in adult learning, Knowles focuses on learner autonomy and the practical application of learning, whereas Kolb emphasizes the continuous iterative process involving reflection and conceptualization. The two can complement each other in adult learning, with self-directed learners effectively going through the cycles of experiential learning.
A version of the thumbnail appears in the 'principles of Andragogy' section. This would be the Andragogy part of it. It symbolises how the Andragogical approach is student-centric. The Pedagogy part of the thumbnail isn't featured as this tutorial is more about Andragogy than pedagogy. Pedagogy represents standard practice, which is a teacher-centric, classroom approach.

Appraise and discuss the concepts and principles of adult learning by comparing and contrasting at least 2 theories?
how did you answer this question?

In contrast, Kolb's Experiential Learning theory asserts that learning occurs in a cycle of concrete experience, reflective observation, abstract conceptualization, and active experimentation.

Great content, as always!
