I think every mission should have the (non-distinct) Smoking Man miniature off to the side, hidden somewhere overseeing the mission. We know he's there!
I got a strong the Room vibe from Ash's lack of contractions towards the end there. "We did not succeed in the mission, we did not hit him; oh, hi, Mark!"
Given his lifestyle, I assume that it is easy to collect samples of Smulder's DNA from most surfaces in his apartment.

This is so cool! Playing this cooperatively with my eldest and this threw us off too. Pg. 63 "A Ravager first activates according to its Acuity. A Ravager activates again at its Acuity -10. A Ravager will also activate again if an enemy ranged attack misses." (Looking at the AI for the Monsters, they all do this acuity activation and then again at -10 acuity, 17 and then again at 7, in this case) The Navite Warrior is crazy, though. It was one of our first monsters and it messed up our team too! Thank goodness for clones! Looking forward to the rest of the campaign, though!

FYI some errors I noticed which made this a bit harder than it should.
The enemy type Ravager only bonus activates when you miss it with a ranged attack, not if you hit it (as you did in turn 3). And when it uses the bonus activation it will only use a Basic Attack against the target that shot. So no multiple Scatter Shots and Nets every turn.
In the second phase you activated the alien 4 times. (Net, Scatter, Net, Scatter).
And the alien would activate at 17 the first time following the AI, and then a second time at 7 (-10) if the bonus activations haven't happen.
the end game rolls are hilarious.. you cheering for an attempted arm loss..haha.. i keep meaning to get Majestic 13 rulebook.

Ash is the only guy I know that can say he has bought something with idea he will find the perfect use for it one day….then he does.
This was a really enjoyable game, very brutal but thematic.
Excellent fun! Shame the team forgot to change their blanks for real bullets until the second half of the mission - this ain't no training exercise! Very interested to see a few more missions play out - I'll be giving this a go soon and it's super handy to have these vids to help me and my mates get a head start on the rules.
I love the Xcom vibes of it! When the ally has got 99% chances of hitting the alien and proceeds wothissing every single shot 😂 also, great to see the X Files coming back! I miss them since your perilous tales period, might be a sign for more to come? I want to believe 😂

I dunno. I'm just not sure I'm loving this game. It just seems like everything is bullet spongy but I was hoping for more than just straight combat. Is there more? I'd rather not buy a game first then find out it's not what I'm looking for
Oh dear! I bought the PDF for this before seeing this vid. So much wrong with the mechanics! Without going too deep an early and obvious issue, what difference does it make from the beuocracy table if the Alien is different from the original if, at that point in the game, you have not made any tactical choices to deal with it? Totally irrelevant mechanic! In fact, what is the point of any tactical play? there are no cover rules or stances ! its just a dice rolling frenzy. the move distances are ridiclas too! on a 3x3 table having a move of 24 inches?im glad i printed this out at work and didn't waste any more money on it. Some good ideas but so poorly implemented. The PDF is set out so badly too! Everything is scattered all over the place. No quick play sheet and relevant tables are scattered through the book in no logical order with no appendices! This feels like an early Alpha test game than a finished product. What were they thinking?????
Oh, the theme is incredibly cool and my wife loves X-file-like stories, but a game boasting about content size is always a red flag for me.
Too often the fact that the game sports 50 upgrades, 30 pages of equipment, 1000 scenarios, 1000000 skills etc is there to obfuscate the fact that the base game loop is flat and boring as hell.
So what about the interesting decision points in an average game of M13? Is it packed with hard choices and multiple viable options every time players make their moves? Is it intellectually engaging at its most basic even without pages upon pages of lore and upgrades?
Or is it just "push your guys so that their weapons are in range and roll some dice to see if they do anything"?
It's been a year now so surely more people have some experience already.
