CORRECTION NOTICE: The Kircchoff's Law battery diagram... The 12v output side of the batteries should come out the same side as the 24v output. In other words, instead of the 12v line coming out of the bottom of the diagram, it should come out the top, as it does on the 24v output leg. A video explaining and proving this theory will shortly follow this video. Please look for this important fix to make your battery system perform in the most efficient manner.
Thanks for tuning in. This build is one for the records books... I'm so thankful for the outside help, without whom would have delayed this project, perhaps indefinitely.
I love the Gandalf meme with that sax guy. Anyway, do you mean to tell me you have breaking news that no one else has figured out in all this time? Way to go Mark, I mean, Dave! lol.
Hey! Have you been talking to Silent Bob! I mean... well, you know what I mean. Yes, SME Mark clued me in on how to get the most out of the batteries. He is a genius, I think.
Yeah, yeah... LMBO! You will thank me later, I promise you. No one else has figured this out in the FMTV community and told any one about it... as far as I know. Easy mod... don't worry. Since when have I led you astray? (Don't answer that!) :-D
Dave, the more I watch your videos, the more I enjoy them. They are informative, entertaining, and personable. I'm in the process of researching LMTVs as I'd like to purchase one within the next year. So your videos are highly relevant and incredibly helpful. I'll look your other battery videos so that I can connect all the dots on how and why you've configured it this way. Additionally, I loved the habitat build you did with the composite material. This is what I'm also planning to do. How do I get the costing for the habitat as I'd like to build it into my budget? I was going to PM you, but I couldn't figure out how to do that. Love your videos. Super helpful. Thanks for sharing the knowledge.

I am very happy that the video collection I put out is doing some good for those looking for info. Prices for budgeting a composite and thermal break aluminum corner extrusion, plus sub-frames are also transparently listed on the website. This weekend, we had the Great Western Overland Roundup. At the event, Mark Williams, the expert that helped me with the batteries, circuit breakers, etc. was there and gave an in-depth class on batteries, connectors, fuses, wire, etc., etc.. Wish you could have been there for that.
@@HelicoolsHelipad I'm sure the Mark Williams sessions was very helpful. In the future, I'll be able to start attending some of these. Thanks for the info. Keep up the great work.
Thanks, Bob... but my name is Dave, and you're welcome! OH! You are referring to Mark Williams, the subscriber that sponsored this build... yeah, he gives me free advice, especially about the battery cable placement. I really like it when I get subject matter experts on here that make great comments, PM me, or best yet, sponsor the build! Yes, thank you Mark!
@@badbadbob1 I did not know you wanted that out in the public. Absolutely, that was a major help! No way could I have done this project without the support from the subscribers (one of them being my big brother!).
Dave, are the cables stainless, or tinned copper? I thought the stiffness would be related to the original cables having larger (and fewer) strands than the cable you replaces them with.
After further review, I think they are tinned nickel, since that is generally used for high temperature applications. This would also explain its rigidity. I also believe you are right about having fewer strands than what I replaced it with. Cheers!
@@HelicoolsHelipad no problem... I didn’t mean for that comment to seem as though I was correcting you.... it was pure curiosity, as I have never seen a set of stainless battery cables. I appreciate your response, and will continue to watch your videos! @@brvfd822 Hey brother! You comment away... I love hearing from you guys and know there are folks out there like yourself that are legit subject matter experts. This whole battery thing is definitely not in my wheel-house. If not for subscribers that have coached me, answered my questions, and sent me emails and PM's with diagrams... I'd be lost. As a matter of fact, someone else told me it was most likely tinned nickel... so that was my "further review." LOL!
