We need to go back to inning programs. It's really that simple. Noone wants to do the same TA grind multiple times a year. Noone wants to lose the cards they grinded for either.
I pretty much complete everything since 2020 and while I'm still playing I didn't touch this recent action figures team affinity except for Bernie and rollie. Don't care about ernie and don't care about the early start points for s3. Feels like homework at this point.
Opening up Team Affinity to previous seasons' cards is huge for offline players. Letting us use wild cards but still progress team affinity is quite welcomed.
I could see the 2 XP paths as themed paths? Maybe the second one is a postseason themed one
2xp paths to maximize FOMO. But they need xp cap to stop ppl from getting it done in 2 days like ppl have done for years
Yep. The gameplay is not fun enough to grind for bosses that are available for LESS time. Ugh.

900K XP, i have yet to reach an XP boss. I got up to 800K last season. If your a casual with families, that's tough. THEN WE YOU GET CLOSE TO THE BOSS, YOU HAVE WHAT, A FEW DAYS TO PLAY???

The final two weeks of a season lacks life and excitement. That’s made FOUR WEEKS in the middle of the MLB season with a January feel in Diamond Dynasty!
I feel like us with families and kids can get to the bosses quicker. The Dont touch grass crowd will always find reasons to complain, as they immediately night one get to 160 and fold there arms, stick there lips out, and beg for more content.
Manny Ramirez grind and storyline would save it. Include the moment he went into the green monster mid inning to grab a hotdog lmao
Great point about incentives to play the game with regards to the XP Cap. The game should make me want to play and play, not play and play and stop when I am no longer earning.
No, it should not. Most people that complain about XP caps are people that either do MLB the show for a living or literally does NOTHING ELSE but play that game. And I am not judging for that, anyone can do w/e they want with their time. But I am also not going to romanticize people spending 18 hours 7 days a week.
Also, addressing @kdjtv opinion on why would they gatekeep.
Bots. People selling accounts. Gameplay balance. Game design principles. Monetization strategies. And I know there are some regulations that are set for game developing industries that moderate how microtransactions are executed. Although, this last one might not directly influence XP earnings, it might explain why we can't win it all in one day. IT IS ADDICTIVE.
And you are correct, I don't think that way. I see someone get Babe Ruth day one I don't automatically say "I wanna have him too". I think "damn! they have money" (to waste). Or if I see Chipper P5'd in 2 days after release I cannot think "oh look, I gotta play more". I think "damn, that's a bot account.

I appreciate SDS attempting to improve the experience for players. The main problem with them speeding up the process of getting through the XP path is, they still seem to have allotted a specific amount of time to the XP path, so finishing it faster merely means bigger gaps in content. Sure, I got through the TA chapter in record time, but now we are sitting around waiting for Season 3 to start, and it will have been almost 2 weeks by the time it drops. Keeping players, especially at this time of year, is about minimizing gaps in content, or having something to do at all times. Thats the biggest problem with "The Show" in the current era. Its too inconsistent. If it want to compete with the big boys over at EA, it needs to have a set content schedule every week.
FOR EXAMPLE -- Program & a Conquest map on Tues. Topps Awards drop & a program on Fri -- TA every 3rd Friday - New BR the first Tues of the month. New Ranked Season starts The first Friday of the month. Special events like ALL STAR content, advertised as they arrive.
Now, i think they should revamp the whole content structure, for a number of reasons, but you get the point.
Ill be playing the game until the final forever content is released. Im just that kind of baseball fan. This has been a rough year for the game IMHO. Thats not even discussing the stagnant state of the gameplay...which is worse in some ways that it was 10 years ago. Its time for a whole new engine, and major fixes to the Mercator projection-esque issues with the dimensions of players, the ball, and the field. FOR EXAMPLE --The pitcher shouldnt be blocking 50% of the balls between 2nd & SS like he is Jacques Plante.
The high average, contact hitters of the 1970's & 1980's would add a ton to game if they were viable.
Im with you, i hate the XP cap. Its a lazy solution to dealing with grinders. Instead of encouraging them, and creating content that isnt destroyed by people who have a autistic ability to grind 24/7, they invoke the XP cap. Its anti player & needs to go away forever.
Its good to see SDS reacting to the community. It means they understand the mood out here....what that portends for the future of the game....who knows.
Ill be here regardless...at least as long as the game is on Game Pass.
Don't appreciate $D$. They purposefully screwed us all by giving us NO CONTENT and the best cards in packs, again, all year. They don't care about us players.

Keep in mind season 3.2 DOES NOT seem to have a "head start" of up to 60K XP like 3.1 and seasons 1& 2 has...which explains why 3 rewards of 99. I also assume the "split" means 3.2 is going to concentrate on the playoffs both in legends and current players. Finest will likely drive season 4.
Everyone or majority might hate TA but that is easiest way to distribute cards for teams
So if you know everyone hates how TA is done, why would SDS do it with the XP now? Also, you didn't happen to see that the only restriction for season 3 was rank. They are finally allowing events and BR to not be restricted to the season.

I started playing MLB the Show in '21 and I enjoyed the game but we never got very many 99's and if you look at the programs the cards were terrible. So in '23 and '24 we get so many fun cards that you would never have in regular power creep. I think people just hate change, and don't even really look back and see how it really was. As far as I care this is the best version of MLB the show I have ever played and I hope they just keep this content structure in '25.
The content structure in 21 made more sense.
I think the changes to season 3 are nice and I am still going to play but I think the largest issue with this game is it lacks a weekend league type mode and the “meta” does not allow for enough skill expression with off meta cards ie high contact low power hitters and non sinker/slider/high velocity pitchers
I really think legend difficulty needs to not take affect until 1000 MMR and with battle Royale not guaranteeing a high diamond unless you go flawless there is no competitive mode that incentivizes playing the game for long periods of time
I believe there is plenty of things SDS could do to win back their fan base….. BUT whats good for one person may not be for all and if im being honest they drop 99 overall cards and people still complain on either how to get em or who that 99 is. So my answer is yeah theres a way just what is that way.
All we really need is 2 programs a week like the good'ol days.

Love seasons. Keeps game fresh. They just need themes for seasons, like Diablo and Path of Exile do.

The seasons content structure hasn't worked for me. I haven't touched the game past June for the last 2 years. This year has been by far the worst. I still watch the videos just to keep up with any changes but just seems to be more of the same from SDS.
I like everything that was said in the blog post, my only disliking is that in 8 days, Season 3 comes out on my birthday and I’m going to be out of town when season 3 is out, I think they should just launch season 3 at the start of next week.
Yeah and I have a wedding to go too. oh and my wife wants us to go on vacation next week....plus I have a funeral to attend too., plus I have to work overtime this week...can you rearrange the schedule, I'm sure no one else has any conflicts...
Wild cards shouldnt be collection items they should be given free or if earned needs to be in xp path

They already sold the game. Deincentize people to play all the time and its less stress on their servers.
Sadly nothing can save it. I uninstalled it when NCAA dropped and I have not had the itch to go back to MLB. Until I see set and seasons are gone next year, I probably won't be buying the show next year.

The community (The entire community of MLB the show players) and the comment section on every post from SDS on Instagram Twitter and these videos. I was not referring to YOUR community or YOUR whining. Obviously I’m a follower. Sorry for the confusion. Keep up the good content.
There is NOTHING they can do to salvage '24. What I really want in '25 is CURRENT GEN graphics, a BRAND NEW HITTING ENGINE so we're no longer playing based off RNG, ONLINE FRANCHISE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.... and that's it. If any of those items are missing from '25, I'm not buying it. I might even move to SMB to get my baseball itch scratched if it comes to it.
$D$ trolled us all year, again, with garbage packs to get the best cards to make idiots buy stubs to get the cards because of FOMO, they gave us ZERO CONTENT throughout this year and now they're trying to add more to get people to keep playing after they already fucked us, sets and seasons are GARBAGE. Whoever is calling the shots at $D$ needs to be fired and never allowed to be employed again... except at Taco Bell.
