Ahhh this was an awesome listen :D Our first cruise was back in 2019 on the discovery and couldn't fault it. We just booked again on the discovery 2 and there seems to be so much value in their suites compared to other lines too!
Thanks for another great vid Emma, I’m on the Explorer 2 for 14 days around the Caribbean in January ( first ever cruise). I think the two ships are pretty similar except Explorer 2 is always adults only. Great to get an idea of what the ship will be like & a great insight into Marella cruises.
That's the best first cruise ever!! 😍❤️ I'm very envious. Marella make everything so easy and it's so friendly. I always recommend them to first time cruisers. If you're on Facebook make sure you share how the trip goes in our group! m.facebook.com/groups/273786596385850/ 😁👍🏼
I don't know if already mentioned but 'The Cruise' TV documentary series, which brought Jane McDonald into our living rooms, was filmed on this ship when it was the Galaxy - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Cruise_(1998_TV_series). We're friends with another couple that worked on the ship and featured on the show.

I also got 2 ads before I could watch the video, normally I'll be faster than the speed of light to click the 'Skip Ad' button, but for you I let them both play until they went away by themselves 😂 This video made me so happy. I love seeing a familiar port! Also, 3:49 proves that the Earth is round! Are we getting a 2 hour long Christmas edition video?! Speaking of Christmas, I really, REALLY, have to send you a Christmas card this year, you need that PO box!! Haha. Jokes aside this video really showcases the beauty of the Marella Explorer and I'd love to sail on her one day! Let me know next time you're in The Netherlands, I'll be the first person at the terminal waving a British flag ready to hand you 20 packs of Dutch snacks. I'm serious!
Hola Emma, cuando veo al Marella Exp. mí corazón recuerda al Celebrity Galaxy donde fui tan feliz en SEP. 2008, junto a mí esposo.... Gracias!!! Cris de Argentina 🇦🇷
Thank you very much for this very good video. I've been on the ship many times over the years it was MeinSchiff(1) and I miss it now. But: it is still a beautiful ship, even after all the changes.
My wife and I have been on this ship twice, first time was for our anniversary sailing around the western Med then a few months later in the Caribbean... Love the ship and the Marella crew are great, we can't wait to book another cruise as soon as all this covid madness is over.
Family Cruising just because I have 4 kids under 12 but I totally get that some like a cruise experience without kids and think it is wonderful that those options are available.
Miss Emma you really changed my way thinking about cruise.recently I started taking cruise You amazing way to speak clearly explain everything with amazing words. My next cruise will be in end of January from Dubai via MSC
Great video. I'll be on the Explorer end of March 2024, with wife and 3 daughters. At time of travel their age will be nearly 4yrs, 8yrs and nearly 11 years. I just wish to ask about spending time on the ship and at excursions. With a family, or without what would your thoughts be, get to see as much of the ship, spend all time at locations or balance it out? Our cruise will be the canary islands. Thanks again
Just reboked to sail on her for two weeks next December around the canaries after our other marella cruise got cancelled. So looking forward to it and staying positive! December 2021 is a long way off
We have done Celebration, Dream and Discovery 1 , our favourite being the Celebration as this was the first cruise we did, first couple of cruises we did with Marella we bought drinks packages before standard drinks were included in the price, we only had one bad meal in the Marella range and that was in the main dining room, during dress to impress the beef wellington was very tough, like it would be break dental work and teeth,
Just come back from a Fjords cruise on the Explorer and as usual Emma is spot on with her review. There is a lot of space on the ship, the service is superb and the entertainment is very good. We were in a deck 9 outside cabin and that was spacious, be selective on if you want a balcony cabin. The views were so good everyone was on upper decks to catch both sides plus front and back. Dont be afraid of buying goods on board, just be prepared about what you want, look early then you can google - they price match. The same goes for several cruise lines, we haven't made a bad decision yet. Use the speciality dining for an experience, you pay your money and take your chance. What I would say is that unless you are really picky over drinks or specialist coffees then spend the money on the dining you fancy. The ship is an ex Celebrity Ship as is Explorer 2. Discovery and Discovery 2 ar ex Royal Caribbean ships. All have been extensively refurbished for the UK market. If you dont want water slides, flow riders, zip lines, being ripped off, huge casinos, tips added to the bill then this is a good cruise line for you.
Great video Emma. We had had a good time on Discovery last year but hadn't really looked at Explorer. Our in laws are doing Explorer new year which looks fab (hopefully it'll go ahead).
The bar by the sequins was open in the evening. Bar 53 I think. It was handy if MDR Was busy and they gave you a pager, you could wait here with a drink until you were called
We did the 14 day Baltic - was amazing! So good we have booked a 21 day transatlantic for a really great price. Baltic was our first ever cruise and now we are hooked ! Thanks for all the info you provide😎
Silent discos? Ok, have to google that. OH! That would make total sense on a cruise ship! What a great idea! As long as the headphones were sanitized... =D
thanks for another amazing video ,I cruised on the Discovery this year & am now booked on the Explorer for next year ,& im looking forward to comparing the two
I think I may have found my cruise line. Adults only on the Explorer 2 plus some sailings on other ships are adults only. Less expensive than the other adults only lines, with a good selection of ports. Many drinks included. And from the videos I've seen, the ships have a decent spread of ages on them, instead of being like a floating retirement home. Sign me up!
Adults only is my preference, fewer kids the better to me , so my preferred cruising time is when the kids are in school, so if they are kids , they may be the very small children who are not old enough to be schooled... that's a very nice ship ...LOVE the Squid and Anchors tile floor ...
Hi Emma, I have never heard of Marella cruise lines, and I am intrigued. I have seen TUI ships in Port Canaveral on occasion. Do you have a video that introduces us to the cruise line?

Hi Emma, I’m sure you’ve been on another cruise where Ben & David were there too. They are _almost_ as lovely as you my honey! 😘 I’m heading to Norway on Aurora in November 2019, I was considering making a video, but it would never be as high quality as yours! I do love your channel. (I write for Birmingham’s busiest online magazine as the theatre reviewer, but I also have my own channel)
Hey Julie! Thanks so much. I have cruised with them before which is cool, good friends of mine 😁👍🏼 Definitely make a video! You don't have to be good to start but have to start to be good, that's what I always say. 😋❤️
I forgot to mention a little tip. If the buffet is packed at breakfast or lunch you can always take your food through to the Mediterranean restaurant at the very back of the ship, inside or out. We preferred the main dining room to escape the inevitable bun fight, every buffet we have been to has been the same if you get timings wrong. :)
I am considering an inside cabin on Marella Explorer2, 14 nights Feb 2022.Yesterday I ask phoned customer services in the UK and ask what would happen if me or my wife tested positive for covid once we were on the cruise. She said we would be isolated in a separate section of the ship, for the required period (7 days?) I asked if that would be a balcony cabin, she would or could not answer that question. I said that surely Marella would not confine two people in an inside cabin without the access to fresh air. She couldn't answer me. Do you have any information regarding this scenario?
We've been exclusively P&O and Cunard. This looks worth a go though. What are the other passengers like? I don't mind families but am not keen on groups of lads getting wrecked and loud by the pool!
It really depends on the cruise, I took a 2 week Baltic cruise which was mostly older people and a few families. The 90s theme cruise was 100% drunk lads as to be expected haha. 😁👍🏼
