Thanks for the correction. I first heard the tune performed by the California Blue Devils in 1980. My high school band, Provine High School, first played Tiger of San Pedro in 1981 and won the Mid-America National Championship in 1982. The following year, in 1983, Provine High School Band was ranked among the top 100 marching units in North America (Including colleges and military marching units). This was indeed a special group of kids. In 1982, the feature pieces performed were La Suerte de Los Tontos, Tiger of San Pedro and Ice Castles. I loved Tiger of San Pedro.
