@@jordanshankman That’s so rad! Thanks so much for the fast reply! Found an 814 in perfect condition at a thrift recently. My other super 8 only shoots auto so I’m a bit daunted by the idea of shooting manually on film for the first time especially with the price of development. Anyhow, I just bought a metering app the other day in the hopes that it would mitigate me having to some $$ on a nice light meter. Haven’t used it yet but that’s awesome to hear/see you got such good results with one!
Was this all shot manually with the 814? I've got exactly the same model (haven't used it in years) and noticed I can control the aperture with the Close/Open dial. Is that what you mostly used? Or the auto mode? And is the shutter angle 150 or 180 degrees? Sorry for all the questions!@@jordanshankman
@@DanielFewchuk Yeah all manual exposure. The shutter angle is 155 degrees, but I go off shutter speed, which is roughly 1/40th sec at 18fps and 1/60th at 24. Film has a lot of latitude and is easy to expose properly. Get a log scan and you’ll have even more room to fine tune in post.
Here is someone who knows how to use cameras, this and Jordan Shankman .... Beautiful ... Bravissimo a real pleasure for the eyes !!!!. Friend what camera did you use? and what program do you use to scan?
Nice! Good quick shot of the Super 8 motel
i literally cried to this it's too beautiful for some reason
It means a lot to hear that, so thank you!
Exhilarating and inspiring footage! Keep up this enthusiasm for the super 8 adventure.

That’s awesome to hear. It’s never let me down.
Great video, Thank you!
Awesome mate, I was considering buying the same camera but after watching this I definitely will thank you 😌
Thanks man! Glad I could be of service.
Any tips on manual exposure?
Super! How did you develop and digitize the film afterward?
Hey, amazing video ! was wondering where you sent your film to get developed and scanned?
Thanks! Pro8mm in Burbank
This was a 2k full format overscan
@@jordanshankman thanks so much
What kind of light meter did you use?
Funny enough, an iPhone app. I don’t recall which one.

@@lwltrs Sure! Film negative has a ton of latitude, so it’s pretty forgiving. I’d just recommend a log scan to get the most out of it.

Nice work bro! Where did you develop the film ?
Thanks! It was developed and scanned by Pro8mm.
Wow! Dang, you nailed it! What's the work that sends you far and wide?
Manual exposure gang?
gang gang
Класс!
Really love your super 8 stuff. Is your Canon AZ814 the electronic model or the older standard AZ814 version? Thanks!!

Thanks for the kind words! I used a Canon Auto Zoom 814 and Pro8mm in Burbank, CA performed the scan.
Amazing video! If you don’t mind me asking, what frame size are you using?
Thanks! If I understand you correctly, the lab referred to this as a full format overscan. The negative is scanned edge to edge.
Hey, was this also scanned at Pro8mm?
Yeah, this was a 2k scan done by them.
Man your chanel is great so inspiring! Is this 24 fps? I can't seem to decide what fps i should use for my upcoming super 8 project
Etai Shomri I’m glad you enjoy it! I shot all of this at 18fps.
shot at 24 fps?
Nice footage. But how did you get the film on an airplane without being x-ray exposed? :3
You just ask security for a hand check.
18 or 24 fps?
Shot at 18 and scanned at 24 with playback speed reduced.
