This 1960 movie is oft overlooked today, but stands out in my memory. I have been blessed to be right in the middle of the Hollywood Studio Music world. So, here we have a simple modal melody fleshed out by the consummate professional music of composer Gold, and the orchestrators and music pros, or studio musicians in the movie community. Nothing in terms of professional care was spared in this venture. The sound speaks for itself, and joins with the story to truly produce an amazing effect. As I play my horn, this melody often comes right out of the bell because it is such a brilliant bit of melody. It also evokes a memory of my young days when I had yet to really understand the richness of our industry when things worked right. Perhaps our industry here can find its way back to its soul and heart, and tell us stories as and in the way we yearn for.

I first heard this score a long time ago when I was listening to my father's old vinyl collection. I believe it was one of the "100 Strings" compilations so it wasn't a complete album. After some difficulty I tracked down the Ernest Gold CD and fell in love with it Fantastic music. Composers rarely score a film feature this way anymore, Raine and the Prague Philharmonic has revived it's epic styling most beautifully.
Love this music from the movie Moses when he divide the sea so people can pass through composers of music in the old days are really great music they compose are so classic
