I have a question about a crenulated garage door. I just cant get the paint to stop peeling, no matter how much I sand or hit it wit the pressure washer. Thought that I had til the primer hit it. I'm using some Zinsser. Should I just start stripping now?
Hello. I have a 2 year old Hormann white garage steel door. I want to paint it black and purchased Sherwin Williams DTM (direct to metal) self priming paint. Sales agent said not to prime the existing door. If I prep it correctly (clean with simple green), can I just a spray gun and apple two coats of the black DTM paint?
I paint garage doors left to right and do them in several sections....I have NEVER EVER Gotten a Lap mark EVER. doing them that way. I did notice you are using a poll. I think that might be the problem. Over pressurized material can cause lap marks. Or if you stop before you let off the trigger. You should never use a poll unless you need one. Looks like your self taught from the videos I have seen. Spraying vertical you were shooting the bottom of your door angling down. So the bottoms of the texture are not getting even coat. Best to spray right to left Leave the pool off and turn the gun upside down. shoot straight at the door first swipe 1/2 on the paper or drop. so the center of your fan is at the bottom of the door. then overlap 1/2 each stroke up the door bottom to top. I never do them 2 coats either. and NEVER have MISSES....Once solid coat and my doors last 15 years every time. Vista Care free paint.
@@taneishabedenfield4236 If the original color is white & the new color is dark. Customer wants edges the same as the new dark color. How do you do it?
I can tell you that what they call themselves a pro, none of them will spray paint the edges but they said they spray paint a garage door, maybe theer is no edge on their door, and some of them will say paint with paint brush to finish the edges, they all lie

I dont. Lol. But i have once for a super picky client. And we kowered door until we could access a panel..then did it with a brush. And continued that process for all 4-5 panels
Depends on you really. Whats your overhead. Is ut a side job. Are you licensed. A handy man rate would be near $400 minimum in my area . . Hope this helps

Our painter left the sides are peeing. I need to sell this house so should I sand it and repaint those sides?
