    Alistair is absolutely on fire-what a sound and his facility is astonishing, especially at that volume. Love James Morrison’s genuine joy and appreciation of Alistair’s playing, too! Morrison is, of course, incomparable himself. Two absolute monsters, having a blast-love it!

    Have just met my father for the first time since I was 5, I'm now 53!! He is Terry Chapman jazz musician, he informed me that Alistair White played in his band! How cool is that!

      Hi Felicity, not sure you’ll get this, but how is your Dad? Please send my love to him. I loved our days with the sounds 18 big band traversing the hills of east Lancashire. Lovely man 👊🏼👍🏼

      @@AlistairWhite hi! Funnily enough I've just recently seen him again for a couple of days, including watching him have a band practice session in is current band. He's playing the bass trombone. Still going strong at 83! I will tell him you messaged when I speak to him on Sunday, I imagine he will be most chuffed you replied.

    Looks like a king trombone. The best dance band trombone. Had one loved it. I had a king 2b.

      The second note is a blue note or in between the two pitches check your ears not ya eyes

    • @nickmoseley3901
      @nickmoseley3901 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@cocamojack7793 Nah homie its the same note. He's playing a high Bb but in 1st, 3rd, and 5th position on the horn. Which is technically possible but quite difficult. Just small tuning differences between the three.

    • @gabrielmatte1182
      @gabrielmatte1182 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@nickmoseley3901 the intonation between the notes won’t be the same because of the position difference. Yes it’s the same note, but it won’t sound the same if you listen carefully

    • @gabrielmatte1182
      @gabrielmatte1182 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Fight For Freedom ok dude I get what your saying but at some point you gotta admit that James Morrison is a professional player that knows what’s up (I’ve heard this trick a lot on trombone here’s an example: th-cam.com/video/fO1UDyxgtEc/w-d-xo.html at 1:19) and the other thing is your criticizing a jazz trombone technique, and in a jazz community, you usually don’t do this so stick on classical music observations

    • @mikeadkins65

      Almost? I'm a hardcore fan of James and Shorty, but to say that James Morrison doesn't match up to Trombone Shorty- and especially Big Sam- is a gross underestimate of James' skill.

    Wow - James Morrison on trombone - so relaxed and swinging.....with a beautiful sweet tone!! The other 'bone looks terrified - plays stiffly and overblows - trying too hard with those puffed out cheeks? IMHO 😉
