    Beautiful layout. My dad bought us a 1970 Ford Maverick. I've never seen a car rust out faster.

    Wow this is amazing. Actually reminded me of growing up in central Illinois.

    Great layout! Phone boxes at U.S. grade crossings are not common. Instead there will be a blue sign mounted on the crossing gate standard with a toll free 800 number to call in case of emergency such as a stalled vehicle on the tracks.

    Ah, early Conrail. Definitely an interesting change of pace. Personally, I'm intending to run later-era Conrail, though I don't have the space in my home for anything bigger than a switching layout (and have no idea where I can find a larger one). You've certainly got something interesting going on with yours. Cheers.

    A nice little vignette in the Illinois countryside. Quite realistic. Thanks for sharing.

    Nice layout. In the old time, there would be phones along the railroad that allowed you to contact the dispatcher, but they were typically connected to the railroad's own telegraph poles as opposed to the public phone network. Nowadays, they just put an emergency number on a blue plate at every crossing.

    Pretty cool, the old tires makes it look real 😊

    What decoders are you using in the f unit and geep, they sound great

      Hi John. It's a tsunami 1 in the FP7, Athearn Genesis sound fitted. The geep is silent. I have a pair of FP7s, and with both running it's a bit to much. If I'm running a consist I usually mute the trailing locos to keep the noise levels reasonable.

    Hi Mike! Do you live in England? if so how to you get these locos? :D

    • @mikelight
      @mikelight  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi. Yes. I'm in the UK. I've purchased locos from various sources including Spring Creek and Trainworld. Other locos have been picked up on Ebay. Freight cars have come from various stores in the UK or Ebay.

      @@mikelight cool! I live in Sweden and I have alot of trouble getting locos. I either have to pay 1/3 or 1/4th of the price of a loco from The US in taxes+Delivery. Or buy expensive in europe.

      Shipping and vat are an additional cost that I have to factor in. To make the most of the shipping I try to buy 2-3 locos at a time or combine the shipping with friends who are also purchasing locos or cars.

    Try buying a 1953 Ford School bus. Trying to get one for a M.A.S.H train set.
